Chapter 1 - 1. First Meeting

A girl walked hurriedly along a quiet small road. It was late at night, and she had just finished work at a small cafe quite far from home.

Her tiny legs felt tired after standing all day serving customers, but they couldn't stop her from walking quickly.

She had to get home before her uncle came home. For her, coming home late could mean verbal abuse and, not infrequently, a rough beating from her uncle who was known to be cruel.

In the dimness of the night, Lika heard a loud noise from a distance. The sound of metal clashing loudly, followed by the sound of car tires squealing.

Lika's heart was beating fast, but curiosity overcame her fear. She quickened her steps towards the source of the sound, which was not far from where she was now.

When she arrived there, Lika saw a sight that stunned her. A luxury car was overturned on the side of the road, thin smoke billowing from the crushed hood.

Without thinking, she ran closer, her heart beating faster when she saw someone trapped inside the car. The figure of a tall and sturdy man slumped in the driver's seat, with blood flowing down his temples.

"Oh my God..." Lika whispered, her hands shaking as she tried to open the dented car door. It took several attempts until she finally managed to open it. With all her might, she pulled the man out of the car, even though her body was small and weak.

"Can you hear me?" she asked in panic while shaking the man's body a little.

There was no response. His face was pale and there was blood everywhere, making Lika even more panicked.

Without thinking, Lika decided to take him to her house.

The small house she lived with her uncle and aunt was not far from here, and it so happened that they were going out of town. In her heart, Lika was grateful because if her uncle saw her carrying a strange man, it would be a big problem for her.

With great difficulty, Lika dragged the man's body to her house. When she got there, she immediately laid the man on the small sofa in the living room.

His handsome face looked so wounded, but there was still a cold aura emanating from this man, even when he was unconscious.

Lika quickly looked for water and cloth to clean the wound on his temple.

"You have to survive…" Lika whispered softly, feeling sorry for the man lying helplessly in front of her.

While Lika cleaned the man's wound carefully, he began to regain consciousness. His sharp and cold eyes slowly opened, and the first thing he saw was Lika's face who was focused on treating his wound.

His hard and cold gaze made Lika pause for a moment, afraid that the man might misunderstand or even get angry.

"Who are you?" the man's voice sounded hoarse and soft.

Lika gasped in surprise when she heard his voice.

"I… I'm Lika," she answered haltingly. "I found you on the street. You had an accident, so I brought you here to take care of you."

The man only nodded slightly, then closed his eyes again. However, before she really fell asleep again, she had time to say in a low voice, "Arga… my name is Arga."

Lika didn't ask much after hearing the man's name. She continued to treat his wounds carefully, while Arga fell asleep soundly on the sofa.

All night long, Lika stayed awake, making sure that the man she had helped was okay. Although she was a little scared, she couldn't leave someone in a condition as badly injured as this.

The next morning, Lika woke up in a small chair next to the sofa. Arga was already sitting there, looking much better than last night. He looked at Lika with a sharp gaze, as if judging her every move. Lika felt nervous under that gaze, but she tried to stay calm.

"You saved me," Arga said coldly, without a hint of gratitude in his voice.

Lika nodded slowly.

"You're pretty badly injured. I can't just leave you like that."

Arga just looked at her without saying much. He looked like someone who wasn't used to thanking or asking for help from anyone.

Maybe because of his status as a rich man, Lika thought. From the luxury car and expensive clothes he was wearing, it was clear that this man came from an upper class.

Unlike her who was just an ordinary girl, even living with a family that treated her badly.

"Why did you help me?" Arga asked suddenly, his voice still flat.

"Because... that's what had to be done. I can't just let someone get hurt like that."

Arga narrowed his eyes. There was something in him that couldn't accept that reason just like that. He was a man who had seen the worst side of humans. In his world, no one did anything without a reason or interest.

Every help must have a price, and every action must have a purpose behind it.

"I will pay for all of this," Arga said.
