Cherreads

Chapter 3 - 3

The shiny black car stopped in front of a tall building, on the top floor of this building hung a large sign 'PIERIS BRASSICAE'. A company that deals with the sale and manufacture of heavy construction equipment and freighters owned by the WHITE family.

All eyes were on the car when the passenger door opened and a man got out. It was undeniable that the man's appearance was capable of mesmerizing everyone. A slim, tall and athletic body clad in a three-piece gray suit. Long platinum blonde hair parted in the middle, thick red lip, light blue eyes, neat eyebrows, and a high nose. His sun-kissed white skin made him even more dazzling. The mole under his lip and on his left eye made his points more admirable.

"Welcome, President." A man greeted Amari's arrival. Two others including a guard escorted Amari into the elevator.

"Is everything ready?" Amari looked at the man who was now nodding to him.

It had been a week since Amari had started working at the company. The General Meeting of Shareholders had ended and everyone agreed Amari started working immediately and took up the position of President Commissioner of PIERIS BRASSICAE. There was no opposition from anyone except from his father's family, her aunt, Mrs. Saddie White.

The elevator doors opened and a man stood there, wearing a dark brown-white three-piece suit with a dark blue tie. He had a wide smile, wavy lips and light blue eyes similar to Amari's plus a mole that fell in the same place as him, under the left lip.

"Amari! It's been a week since we last met in the elevator, but I'm still surprised to see you here." The man spoke as he get into the elevator with a woman, his secretary. His wavy blonde shoulder-length hair swayed with his head as it swung to the left.

"You have too much free time, Rowan." Amari replied nonchalantly, picking up his phone from the suit pocket without paying any attention to his cousin ramblings.

"I just came back from the marketing department, I have to pay attention to the other divisions anyway."

Amari sighed, he had just thought of asking his secretary to buy a cup of hot coffee but after he met Rowan, he lost his appetite. The man kept rambling beside him, saying a lot of unnecessary things. He kept trying to show Amari that he was working.

Rowan is his aunt's son, Saddie White. Saddie White has been eyeing Rowan to get a higher position since Ashleen appointed him as CEO 3 years ago, as Saddie was only the CMO of the company. But, The General Meeting of Shareholders rejected her offers.

"Enjoy your breakfast, Rowan." Amari cut him off when the elevator doors opened right in front of his office. He exited without turning back to look at Rowan, he didn't want his day to get any worse looking at his face. Once enough.

Many people say that Amari looks so much like Rowan, if only at first glance, the two are indeed similar. That was because Amari's father and Rowan's mother were twins. However, Amari didn't like that, he felt humiliated to be compared to that bastard Alpha.

Amari walked into his office, he stared at his phone screen. It had been a month since he had met Joshua again. The meeting that was supposed to go well was disrupted by a gunshot attack that scared all the guests who attended the party, fortunately that night no one was injured.

He was too scared that night and couldn't even explain to Joshua why he was being targeted despite the man saying several times that all the shots were aimed at Amari. Amari could tell from the look in Joshua's eyes that night, the man was also curious about what happened.

He sighed, leaning back in the office chair he was sitting in, he looked again at Joshua's number that he had asked that night.

He didn't know why he asked for Joshua's number, the impulsive act was based on the fact that he was so happy to see Joshua again after the graduation. He never thought he would meet Joshua again, because even though both families have businesses that are linked with each other, it's just that, Joshua took the underground.

What happened to the Dhurudatta family was all over the television, as it was with his family and other Elite families in the country. The family was also in the spotlight. There was no official announcement when Joshua took over the underground business, as it was not something the public knew about.

The Dhurudatta family's underground business is a public secret but is not highlighted much in the national news.

The television only broadcast the announcement of Gruvv Dhurudatta as CEO and Cross Dhurudatta as President Commissioner and the announcement of Sage Dhurudatta finally stepping down to retire. There was no news about Joshua there.

"If you hadn't contacted him first, he wouldn't have known."

Amari jumped up from his chair, he turned his head to find Tucker, his secretary, staring at him with his arms folded across his chest. The man with short black hair and defined eyebrows looked immaculate in his suit and tie. The deep gray eyes stared at him.

"Oh my! If you're going in, at least knock first!" Amari stammered with a red face while Tucker shook his head.

"I knocked and called for you, but you didn't answer at all. I need to hand over this file for you to study." He said as he handed the file onto the table. "It's still working hours and you're in the office anyway, young master. Don't let your mind go anywhere, stick to work. Please." Tucker said in a sarcastic tone.

"I know, I'm not thinking about anything. No, it's true what you said, I was actually thinking."

"Thinking of contacting that Dominant Alpha?"

"Tucker.."

The 36-year-old man in front of him chuckled, Tucker was his mother's secretary. The man had been working with the White family since he was nineteen years old. His mother entrusted everything to him, and now Tucker was asked to teach Amari and become his personal secretary.

"You should contact him, isn't the White family having a big party next week for your official announcement?"

Amari let out a long sigh, he was still considering. Of course, his family would send a formal invitation to the Dhurudatta family. After all, their family business relationship was very close. However, the chances of Joshua attending were zero, the Dhurudatta family would definitely send Cross or Gruvv instead of Joshua.

"Isn't he the youngest son of the Dhurudatta family?" Tucker was now sitting on the sofa, arms folded across his chest, looking at Amari with a curious gaze. He'd heard the news about what happened at the last party.

When he asked Amari, he also explained that Joshua protected and saved him. Seeing Amari wanting to contact the Alpha, Tucker was sure that Amari had a crush on the youngest of the Dhurudatta family.

"Yes, he's the youngest of the Dhurudatta family."

"It'll be rough..."

Amari stopped what he was doing, he raised his head to look at Tucker. Their eyes met and Tucker chuckled at Amari's worried face, he got up from his seat and walked over to Amari while stroking the top of his head.

"No need to worry, you should call and ask him about the gun. Explain to him what happened to you."

Tucker walked out of Amari's room, leaving him alone.

Amari's head was spinning, he didn't know what to do. All day he'd been wondering what he should do first, contact Joshua? Send a message first? Which one? He had to choose one. He had read all the files, he had studied them, but his mind went back to Joshua.

He had gone through such a long meeting but then he just stared at his phone screen, staring at Joshua's number.

He could not ignore his feelings of excitement at seeing him again. He can't pretend that he doesn't have a crush on him. Yes, he had liked Joshua ever since they met again in college. When Joshua walked from the bike parking lot in a black leather jacket, carrying a similar colored helmet, the clothes he wore were black but did not cover how handsome he was. His beautiful blue eyes sparkled in the sunlight.

Amari let out another long sigh. He decided not to contact Joshua. Not now. He would think about it again, maybe not today. He also didn't know what to talk about, he didn't know if inviting Joshua personally was the right thing.

He walked into the elevator, pressing the button to the lobby. His personal driver was already waiting downstairs, today he would have dinner with his parents before going back to his own condo.

Amari had just left the elevator when the receptionist called him.

"Mr. White, a package has arrived for you." Said the young woman with a big smile, she handed a light brown cardboard box to Amari. There was no sender's name, only the recipient's. His own name.

Amari was silent for a while, he then called the guards to open the package. He didn't want to take any chances. A guard came, they opened the box, there was nothing but white paper. The guard handed the paper to Amari.

Amari took it, he opened the paper and his eyes rounded, he covered his mouth with one hand.

YOU GOT LUCKY THAT NIGHT. SEE YOU AT YOUR OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT, AMARI.
