Chapter 5 - chapter-5 Forging the Future

After talking to the chief and getting some information about this place, I started to get an idea—this is the western region of the Teruk Plane.

They don't even know how big the continent is. The continent is divided into many planes, and Teruk is the westernmost plane in this world.

There are three other human villages in this western region. They're called Melda Village, Song Village, and Mekut Village.

The only good relationship we have is with Melda Village, since it's nearby. The other two are quite far.

There are many other world species with intelligence. They think like us humans, forge weapons, and so on.

But humans—we come last in this hierarchy.

Which is frustrating for me.

I will uplift humanity, because there's something inside me—a voice—telling me to fight for humans.

I take a deep breath.

The Great Orc Village lies in the center of the Teruk Plane, and it was recently invaded by the Lizardman Kingdom of the East.

I sit on the chair again, deep in thought, trying to plan my next step.

Then a plan clicks.

I need to make the warriors stronger.

I step outside the main hut to observe the warriors of the tribe.

They have good physiques, strong like ancient humans.

But what they lack is technique, training, and weapons.

They possess raw strength—but orc strength is something we can't overcome. And if the orcs are intelligent enough to understand tactics, it could turn into a nightmare.

My first step: weapons.

So I go to find the person responsible for making weapons for the tribe.

That person is none other than one of the elders with the chief—Elder Bern, the man crafting stone weapons for the tribe.

I call out,

"Elder Bern! I need your help."

He looks up from his work and smiles slightly.

"Well, if it isn't the new chief. What can I help you with?"

I'm surprised by how welcoming he is.

"Well, this is rather easy..."

He looks me straight in the eyes.

"What do you mean, easy?"

I say plainly,

"Well, I hoped you'd show some resistance... you were the one most against the decision of making me chief."

He smiles, arms crossed.

"Well, I was against the decision of the chief.

But if you can help us defend our village and our people—then my will has no value.

Now that you're chief... your order is my command."

I smile, and in my mind,

I understand this man.

I show him my spear and knives and ask,

"Can you make something like this?"

He examines the spear, and his eyes widen in shock.

"You made this?"

"Yeah," I nod. "I made this spear."

He pauses for a moment, then says,

"Follow me."

He stands and leads me to his hut.

When we enter, he turns to me with a serious expression.

"How do you know the burning technique?"

I respond calmly,

"Well... I learned it from someone."

He gives me a discreet, intense look and says,

"Please teach me this technique."

I nod.

"I will teach you."

(That was my intention from the start.)

"But first... tell me. How do you know about this method?"

He sighs and begins,

"Well, you know... other species already use this technique to make fixed and sharp weapons. Even orcs know it.

They make weapons by using fire.

For example, the blade in your hand—that's an orc weapon."

I ask,

"So why do we still not know this method?"

He lowers his gaze, regret filling his voice.

"When I was young, there was an elf master who let me watch his technique once.

But I couldn't understand it back then. I asked him to teach me.

But you see... I'm human. He didn't want our race to know weapon-building techniques."

I nod slowly.

"I get it. Other species don't want humans to be strong."

"Yes," he confirms. "But your technique is better—the weapons you create are so much stronger than even that elf master's."

I smile and say,

"This is a human technique. And I will impart my whole knowledge of weapon-making to you.

But first, we need more resources—hard materials, wood, and so on."

His eyes light up like a child eager to learn.

"Chief, you don't need to worry. I've already prepared everything."

He leads me to a trapdoor in the ground.

"This is the basement."

We descend the stairs. Inside—there are planks of wood and piles of strange stone.

I walk closer to the stone and pick one up—my eyes widen in disbelief.

"This... this is an ore of metal!"

Elder Bern smiles.

"Yes. This material is called Meric.

I heard that to make weapons, we need this material."

I say,

"Yes. This is it."

In my mind: This metal... it's the same as iron ore.

I ask,

"Where did you find this?"

He replies,

"There is a mountain range near our village. We call it the Jeta Mountain Range.

In that range, I found a cave filled with Meric."

I immediately say,

"Elder Bern, take me to that mountain."

We set off on a short trip to the Jeta Mountain Range. Dries joins us as well.

When we reach the location, I inspect the cave thoroughly.

"There's no doubt about it... this is a mine."

They ask,

"What is a mine?"

I smile faintly.

"A key to winning against the orcs."

We return to the village.

I turn to Dries and say,

"Tomorrow, I want every warrior of our village to assemble near the chief's hut."

He responds quickly,

"Yes, Chief."

Later, Elder Bern and I return to his hut.

I turn to him and say,

"From now on, I will teach you the technique to make weapons.

It's called blacksmithing.

Are you ready?"

Elder Bern's eyes burn with resolve.

"I am ready."

And with that—we start the lecture.
