Chapter 1 - who is Permanent

Who is permanent?

Imu's childhood was filled with dreams of success. She was going to be a famous businesswoman, a renowned artist, or a brilliant scientist. She was going to change the world. But as she grew older, those dreams began to fade. She struggled in school, and her grades suffered. She felt like she wasn't good enough, like she was always one step behind her peers.

Now, at the age of 22, Imu felt like a failure. She had graduated from college, but she couldn't find a job. She had attended countless interviews, but she had been rejected every time. She felt like she was good for nothing.

Imu's home life wasn't much better. Her mother scolded her daily, telling her that she was lazy and unmotivated. Her siblings teased her, calling her names and making her feel like she was worthless. Imu felt like she was walking on eggshells, never knowing when her family would turn on her again.

As the days turned into weeks, and the weeks turned into months, Imu became increasingly withdrawn. She stopped leaving the house, stopped socializing with friends, and stopped trying to find a job. She spent most of her time scrolling through her phone, watching series, and feeling sorry for herself.

But deep down, Imu knew she couldn't stay like this forever. She needed a change. She needed a spark. And one day, that spark came.

Imu saw an ad for a voice process BPO job in Seoul, Korea. It seemed easy enough, and the pay was decent. She decided to apply, hoping that this would be the start of something new.

To her surprise, she got selected. She was going to work in a call center, answering customer calls and providing support. It wasn't her dream job, but it was a start.

Imu threw herself into her work, determined to make a success of it. But as the days went by, she realized that the job was tougher than she thought. The calls were endless, the customers were demanding, and the work was monotonous. Her back ached, her energy was drained, and she felt like she was losing herself in the process.

When she went home, her family wasn't supportive. Her mother scolded her for coming home late, and her siblings laughed at her for working in a call center. "You're not fit for anything better?" they would say, making Imu feel like she was worthless.

But Imu refused to give up. She knew she needed to find a way to make this job work. And then, one day, she met Min-ji.

Min-ji was a new colleague, but she was already planning to quit. "This job is so boring," she said, rolling her eyes. "And the pay is terrible. My friend got a supervising job, and she's loving it. No system work, just chit-chat and fun all day."

Imu's ears perked up at this. She had never thought about a supervising job before, but now it sounded like a dream come true. No more monotonous calls, no more scripted responses. Just fun, freedom, and flexibility.

As Min-ji continued to vent about her job, Imu's mind started to wander. Maybe she wasn't cut out for this BPO job. Maybe she should quit and find something better. Maybe she could hang out with Min-ji and explore new opportunities.

The more she thought about it, the more Imu felt a sense of restlessness. She was tired of feeling trapped, tired of being stuck in a rut. She wanted more out of life, and she was willing to take a chance to get it.

"Min-ji, can I ask you something?" Imu said, her voice barely above a whisper. "What kind of supervising job did your friend get? And how did she land it?"

Min-ji's eyes lit up with excitement. "Oh, it's a great job," she said. "She gets to work with people, make decisions, and have fun. And she landed it through a connection. Her friend knew someone who knew someone else... you know how it works."

Imu's mind was racing. She wanted that kind of job, that kind of freedom. She wanted to take control of her life and make her own decisions. And she was willing to do whatever it took to make it happen.

With newfound determination, Imu decided to take a chance. She would quit her job and explore new opportunities with Min-ji. Together, they would navigate the job market, and Imu would finally find a career that brought her joy and fulfillment.

As Imu walked out of the office building, she felt a sense of excitement and nervousness.

Imu's days were filled with excitement and adventure as she hung out with Min-ji's friends. They would go shopping, try new restaurants, and explore the city. Imu felt like she was finally living the life she wanted. But despite the fun, she couldn't shake off the feeling that something was missing.

As a supervisor, Imu felt like she was stuck in a rut. She was doing the same things every day, and it was getting boring. She started to feel like she was just going through the motions, without any real purpose or passion.

Imu knew she needed a change, but she wasn't sure what. She felt trapped in her job, and she didn't know how to escape. But then, one day, everything changed.

Her boss was on the phone, discussing a job opportunity with someone. Imu overheard the conversation, and her ears perked up. "Someone needs a personal secretary," her boss said. "I'll recommend someone for the job."

Imu's heart skipped a beat. She had always been interested in working as a personal secretary, and now it seemed like an opportunity was falling into her lap.

Her boss hung up the phone and turned to her. "Imu, I have a favor to ask," he said with a smile. "I need someone to recommend for a personal secretary position. Would you be interested?"

Imu's face lit up with excitement. "Yes, I'd love to," she said, trying to contain her enthusiasm.

Her boss nodded and made a few calls. A few days later, Imu found herself starting her new job as a personal secretary.

The job was everything she had hoped for. She got to work with a high-profile client, attend exclusive events, and travel to exotic locations. She earned a handsome salary and was treated with respect and admiration.

Imu's friends were thrilled for her. They were happy to see her succeed and were supportive of her new career. "We're so proud of you, Imu," Min-ji said. "You're doing amazing things."

Imu felt grateful for her friends' support. She knew she was lucky to have them in her life.

As Imu settled into her new job, she started to earn more money. She was able to send some of it back to her family, and they started to treat her differently. They would call her regularly, thanking her for the money and asking for more.

At first, Imu was happy to help her family. She felt like she was finally able to make a difference in their lives. But as time went on, she started to feel resentful. Her family was changing, and it wasn't for the better. They were becoming more demanding, more entitled.

Imu felt like she was being taken advantage of. She was the one earning the money, but her family was reaping all the benefits. She started to wonder if it was worth it.

One day, Imu decided to confide in her new boss. "Sir, I'm feeling a bit stuck," she said. "I'm not sure if I want to continue taking care of my family financially. They're changing, and it's like they only care about me for my money."

Her boss listened attentively, his expression sympathetic. "I understand how you feel," he said. "Sometimes, people need space to grow and learn. Maybe it's time for you to set some boundaries."

Imu nodded, feeling a sense of relief. Maybe her boss was right. Maybe it was time for her to prioritize her own needs and desires.

"By the way, Imu," her boss said, "I think you might be interested in working with some of our foreign clients. Would you like me to recommend you for some projects?"

Imu's heart skipped a beat. Working with foreign clients sounded exciting and challenging. She nodded eagerly, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation.

Her boss smiled and made a few notes on his computer. "I'll see what I can do," he said. "You're a talented and capable person, Imu. I have no doubt you'll excel in whatever you choose to do."

Imu left her boss's office feeling hopeful and excited. She knew that she had a long way to go, but she was ready for the challenge. She was ready to take control of her life and make her own decisions.

As she walked out of the office building, Imu felt a sense of freedom. She knew that she was capable of achieving great things, and she was excited to see what the future held.

Imu's boss introduced her to a foreign client in America, and she was both excited and nervous. She had always dreamed of working with international clients, but she was worried about the language barrier. She only knew basic English, and she wasn't sure how she would survive in a country where English was the primary language.

Despite her doubts, Imu decided to take the opportunity and see where it would lead her. She was determined to make a success of herself and prove to herself and others that she was capable.

When she told her mom about the opportunity, her mom's response was predictable. "Go and work, you'll earn more money," she said, without showing any concern for Imu's well-being or language skills.

Imu felt disappointed and frustrated with her mom's response. She wanted her mom to be supportive and encouraging, but instead, she seemed only interested in the financial benefits.

As Imu settled into her new life in America, she couldn't help but notice how her family had changed. They seemed to think of her as a money lender, someone who would provide for them financially without expecting anything in return.

Imu was determined to change this dynamic. She wanted to prove to herself and her family that she was more than just a source of income. She was a person with her own dreams and aspirations.

Fifteen years flew by, and Imu worked hard to establish herself in New York. She settled her family and provided for them financially, but she also made sure to prioritize her own needs and goals.

After 15 years, Imu decided to take a vacation and visit her hometown in Korea. She was excited to see her siblings and their children, and to spend some quality time with them.

As she walked through the streets of her hometown, Imu saw Min-ji with her husband and two kids. They were a happy family, and Min-ji looked like a contented mom. Imu couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy. She wanted a life like that, a life filled with love, happiness, and contentment.

Imu was struck by the contrast between her own life and Min-ji's. Min-ji was wearing normal Korean clothes, and she looked relaxed and happy. Imu, on the other hand, was wearing branded outfits, but she didn't have a beautiful smile on her face. She felt like she was missing out on something important.

As she continued to watch Min-ji's family, Imu felt a deep sense of longing. She wanted a life like that, a life filled with love, happiness, and connection. She wanted to be a mom, to have a family of her own, and to experience the joys of parenthood.

When Imu arrived at her family's home, they were excited to see her. They asked her about her trip to New York and what she had brought back for them. Imu smiled and handed out gifts, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that something was missing.

As they sat down to eat, Imu said softly, "I need a marriage and kids." But her family didn't seem to take her seriously. They just laughed and told her to focus on her career.

Imu felt a pang of disappointment. She knew that her family didn't understand her. They didn't know what she truly wanted in life. She wanted love, happiness, and connection. She wanted a family of her own.

As she looked at her family, Imu realized that she had been living her life according to their expectations. She had been working hard to provide for them, but she had forgotten to prioritize her own needs and desires.

Imu knew that she needed to make a change. She needed to take control of her life and pursue her own dreams. She needed to find a way to balance her career and personal life, and to prioritize her own happiness.

As she sat there, surrounded by her family, Imu felt a sense of determination. She knew that she had the power to create the life she wanted, and she was ready to take the first step.

Imu's life was a complex web of emotions and experiences. On the surface, she seemed like a confident and capable woman, but deep down, she was searching for something more. She wasn't interested in just any man; she was waiting for her true soulmate.

As she grew older, Imu realized that her expectations were high. She had built an imaginary boyfriend in her mind, someone who would love and understand her perfectly. But as she met more people, she began to realize that this was a fantasy.

One day, Imu decided to take a chance and meet new people. She attended social events and joined clubs, hoping to find someone special. But every man she met seemed to be looking for something different. They were either too old, too immature, or just not right for her.

Imu felt like she was stuck in a rut. She was successful in her career, but her personal life was lacking. She longed for someone to share her life with, someone who would love and appreciate her for who she was.

That's when she met him, a handsome stranger who offered her his umbrella in the rain. He flirted with her, using sweet words that made her heart skip a beat. Imu felt like she had finally found the one.

But the next day, Imu saw the man with his wife and kid. Her heart sank, and she felt disappointed and betrayed. She realized that she had been foolish to think that he was interested in her.

Imu's disappointment turned to introspection. She thought about her life and her relationships. She realized that she had been living in the shadow of her family, but once she started earning, everything changed.

She remembered her childhood, how her mom took care of her when she was sick, how her brother pampered her, and how her sister supported her artistic endeavors. Imu realized that she had been living her life according to her family's expectations, but now she was independent and self-sufficient.

Imu's mom had always encouraged her to work and earn money, saying that it would make her independent and motivated. But Imu felt like her mom only cared about the money, not about her happiness.

One day, Imu confronted her mom about this. "Why did you always let me work and earn money?" she asked.

Her mom looked at her with a mix of sadness and pride. "I knew you were demotivated, Imu. I knew you would live a successful life without depending on others. That's why I wanted you to earn money and be independent."

Imu felt a surge of emotions. She realized that her mom had been trying to prepare her for life, to make her strong and self-sufficient. She saw her family in a new light, and she understood that they had always been with her, even when they weren't physically present.

As Imu looked at her family, she realized that they hadn't been teasing her all these years. They had been trying to motivate her, to push her to be her best self. And her mom's words echoed in her mind: "You're a motivated woman, Imu. You're waiting for your true soulmate. Don't settle for anything less."

Imu smiled, feeling a sense of peace and understanding. She knew that she had been living her life according to her own terms, and that she had grown into a strong and independent woman. She realized that her family was permanent, not just in their physical presence but also in their love and support.

As she sat in her home, scrolling through her phone, Imu felt a sense of gratitude. She knew that she had been blessed with a loving family, and that she had learned valuable lessons from them. She was ready to move forward, to find her true soulmate and build a life filled with love, happiness, and purpose.

Imu's story was one of growth and self-discovery. She had learned to appreciate her family and their love, and she had become a strong and independent woman. She was ready for whatever life had in store for her, knowing that she had the support of her family and her own inner strength.

Imu's heart was full of hope and anticipation. She knew that she would find her true soulmate, and that they would build a life together filled with love, laughter, and adventure. She was excited for the future, and she knew that she would face it with courage and determination.

As Imu looked to the future, she felt a sense of peace and contentment. She knew that she had found her own path, and that she was following her heart. She was no longer searching for someone to complete her; she was complete in herself. And with that realization, Imu felt a sense of freedom and joy that she had never felt before.

Imu's journey was far from over, but she was ready for whatever came next. She was a strong and independent woman, with a heart full of love and a spirit that was unbreakable. She knew that
