Chapter 8 - Chapter 7: Fragments Of Fire

The journey to Lake Roccaluce had started as a rumor. A whisper passed between ancient texts and old Alfean legends. But Faragonda had confirmed it: another fragment of the Codex lay hidden beneath the crystal waters of the sacred lake. This time, Bloom and Iris would have to face more than magic—they would face memory.

Into the Depths

The Winx stood at the edge of Lake Roccaluce just after dusk. The moon shimmered above them, casting silver ripples across the glassy surface. The lake looked calm, but something pulsed beneath it—a magical heartbeat that drew the twins forward.

"We'll stay up here and guard the perimeter," Stella said, eyes narrowed. "No doubt the Trix are close."

Tecna adjusted her visor. "The energy signature is buried approximately fifty meters beneath the lakebed. There's a cavern entrance shielded by enchantments."

Bloom nodded. "We've got this."

She and Iris clasped hands and dove into the lake. As they descended, the water glowed around them, responding to their combined magic. Their auras illuminated the lakebed in twin hues—crimson and sapphire, flickering like heartbeat pulses through the deep.

The cavern was exactly as Tecna had said—hidden beneath layers of illusion and rock. Iris touched the outer seal, her sapphire flame forming symbols in the water. The barrier parted like silk, and the twins slipped inside.

At the center of the cavern, a pedestal of coral and crystal rose, and on it hovered the second Codex fragment. This one pulsed with golden light, delicate and warm.

Bloom reached out.

And the world vanished.

The Codex Memory

They were no longer underwater.

They stood in a vast chamber of stars, suspended in a memory that was not their own. All around them, constellations spun and glowed. At the center of the cosmic space stood a woman with wings of pure flame—fiery gold and radiant, her hair a cascade of red embers. Her eyes… they mirrored Bloom's.

A man stood beside her—tall, regal, with blue fire dancing across his arms like frostfire. His eyes reflected Iris's.

"They're our parents," Bloom whispered, heart thudding.

Emotions flooded her—pride, sorrow, joy, and the deep ache of separation.

The woman raised her hands, casting a spell that lit up the entire space. Dragons of fire and ice circled the chamber, twin guardians of light and balance.

"They gave us their flame," Iris said softly, her voice catching. "This is the moment… they chose to protect us."

The scene shifted.

An army of shadow creatures surged from beyond the stars, led by a cloaked figure with glowing eyes—one who sought to corrupt the Dragon Flame.

"They were defending Domino," Bloom realized. "This is the fall."

The woman and man combined their powers, forging a protective seal. The flames—red and blue—merged and split into two streaks of light that shot across the sky.

"To us," Iris said. Tears streamed down her cheeks. "They sent us away to save us."

As the memory faded, Bloom felt a crushing weight in her chest—the pain of a child separated from her parents, the strength of their love, the sacrifice they made.

"I felt her love," Bloom whispered. "It was like fire wrapping around my heart."

"And his," Iris added. "Cool and steady. He gave me his calm."

The Codex fragment glowed warmly in their hands.

"You are the legacy of dragons," a voice echoed in the chamber. "Twin flames born from the balance of light. You are the last hope of the Realms."

Surface Tension

Bloom and Iris burst from the lake, the Codex fragment between them. Above, chaos had broken loose. The Trix were locked in combat with the other Winx, bolts of dark magic streaking through the night sky.

Darcy turned as the twins rose from the water. "They've got it!" she screamed.

Icy launched a barrage of ice spears, but Iris dissolved them with a radiant wave of sapphire fire. Bloom answered with a phoenix spiral, sending Stormy tumbling.

"Protect the Codex!" Bloom shouted.

Stella, Musa, Tecna, and Flora formed a defensive ring. Stella summoned a wall of solar light, Musa blasted sonic waves that echoed like a battlefield choir, and Flora conjured a storm of enchanted blossoms that exploded with stunning pollen.

The Trix faltered, overwhelmed.

"This isn't over!" Icy snarled, retreating through a portal as shadows consumed them.

The sky fell silent.

Aftermath

Back at Alfea, Faragonda placed the second fragment beside the first. The pieces shimmered together, a larger map forming with more detail—now, two glowing points pulsed on the projection: Domino and Elarion.

"The birthplace of elemental magic," Faragonda explained. "Each Codex piece remembers a part of the story. You've unlocked the memory of love, sacrifice, and origin."

Bloom and Iris held hands, their expressions calm but resolute.

"No more running," Iris said.

"No more questions without answers," Bloom agreed.

Together, they faced the map.

The past had spoken.

And the future burned brightly in their joined flame.
