15 Miles: The Heist

Episode 52: Breaking Point
---
The cold steel of Lucian's gun pressed into Julian's temple was a cruel reminder that this fight was far from over. Julian's breath caught, every muscle tensed, yet his eyes never wavered from Lucian's chilling gaze.
"This ends now," Lucian repeated, voice low and sharp like a blade.
But Julian's mind raced, searching for a way out. He knew surrender meant more than death—it meant the collapse of everything they fought for. The data was already halfway uploaded. The truth was spreading like wildfire beyond the walls of this forsaken place.
"Lucian," Julian said steadily, voice calm despite the danger, "you can't control what's already out there. People will see who you really are."
Lucian's smirk deepened, but there was a flicker of doubt in his eyes. "You think exposing me will save you? The world is mine to bend, and soon, no one will question the chains."
---
Behind them, Eve's breath hitched as she pressed herself against the cracked control panel. Her fingers trembled, fighting to keep the interface active despite the incoming threat.
"Max, how much longer?" Julian asked through gritted teeth.
"Thirty seconds… twenty…" Max's voice was tense, fingers flying over his keyboard from their distant position.
Reese moved like a shadow, silent and lethal, circling the doorway, ready to strike. His eyes locked on Lucian's, a warning unspoken but clear: one wrong move and this room would erupt in violence.
---
Suddenly, a deafening explosion rocked the compound's far wing. The walls trembled as debris rained down, momentarily blinding everyone.
Lucian's grip faltered, just for a moment, enough for Julian to act.
With a sudden burst of adrenaline, Julian twisted away, sending the gun clattering across the floor. Reese lunged, tackling Lucian to the ground in a flurry of fists and snarled threats.
Eve scrambled to finish the upload, her heart pounding as the progress bar crept toward completion.
---
Outside, the sound of reinforcements arriving was growing louder—Lucian's forces were closing in, but so was the tide of change. The data leak had already ignited public outrage, digital news outlets broadcasting live feeds of the Echo facility's horrors.
---
"Upload complete!" Max's triumphant shout crackled through their comms.
A piercing alarm blared throughout the compound—an emergency shutdown initiated, triggered by the data breach.
"Time to go!" Julian yelled, grabbing Eve's arm as smoke and flashing lights filled the room.
They burst into the hallway just as a series of automated defenses activated—laser turrets and electrified barriers cutting off their escape.
Reese covered their backs, firing with precision, buying precious seconds.
---
"Split up!" Julian commanded. "Meet back at the rendezvous point."
Chaos erupted as they dashed through the labyrinthine corridors, dodging deadly traps and swarming enemies.
Julian's mind flashed back to everything that had led him here—his past mistakes, lost friendships, and the faces of those depending on him.
There was no turning back.
