Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

I woke up early unable to get rest. Last night I finally managed to get an hour or two of sleep. I got changed, and brushed my teeth as usual. When I was greeted by Jackson downstairs. "What are you doing up this early" he said pouring a glass of orange juice. "I couldn't sleep that well, what about you?" "I need to feed the animals, remember?" He chuckled. "Haha very funny," I replied sarcastically." I grabbed the milk carton out of the fridge and proceeded to pour it. I

got an apple off of the counter I paused. I couldn't help but think of him and I making out on the counter. When he snapped me out of it "hey Liv you alright?" "Yeah just zoning out," I lied. When dad came down the stairs, I glared at him mad about last night. He didn't take offence and said "Olivia can you go saddle up two horses and show Jackson where the heifers are. You can trail them to the lake pasture to graze." "Okay," I rolled my eyes and threw the core of my apple in the trash walking out the door. I caught the horses and he saddled. It looked like he lifted the saddle so easily with his strength. I wonder how easily he could pick me up. Then we warmed them up with barely speaking but we kept finding our gazes meeting and quickly looking away. When our horses were warmed up we started our ride. Then he said "your hair looks nice all done up." I felt my cheeks turning red, "thank you." "Oh no need to thank me, I'm surprised you don't have a boyfriend yet. With all of that natural beauty" I was flustered but I tried to remain serious. I sighed "did my dad put you up to this?" "Liv, once I saw you, you caught my attention." What do I say? I looked down at my horse embarrassed. Suddenly a bird swooped up spooking my horse I ended up in the dirt. As I fell unconscious I saw Jackson holding me and calling my parents. I woke up in the hospital next morning Jackson on a chair. Once he noticed I was awake he said "are you okay?" With worry in his voice, did he really care about me? "I'm okay I'm a little bruised up but it's nothing I can't handle." I remarked trying to be strong. We talked about how big of a scar I had and on and on. When he left to go get a snack from the vending machine my mom brought me my diary. Seriously? It's not that important I'm in the hospital, but whatever.
