Chapter 7 - "Let’s Start with a Small Goal."

If Bai Ye wanted to produce more Qi faster, he needed a top-tier modification technique.

And on that front, he had already made up his mind.

He was going to modify the Pure Yang Wuji Technique, a skill created by none other than his Wudang sect's founder—Zhang Sanfeng.

Zhang Sanfeng was the only person who practiced immortal modification back then, so of course his technique was meant for refining Qi.

Otherwise, how could he have stayed undefeated for sixty years?

Besides, Bai Ye himself was a true Wudang disciple. His martial arts foundation came entirely from Wudang. Now that he was modifying the Pure Yang Wuji Technique, it was like adding wings to a tiger—it made everything smoother and easier.

Next Issue: He seriously lacked Daoist spells.

In his previous life, Bai Ye had trained at Wudang for over a decade, practically mastering 70–80% of the temple's martial arts.

Even his sect leader used to say he was a once-in-a-generation martial arts genius.

But now he was a Qi Refiner. If he didn't know a few spells that could literally mess with the laws of nature, how could he even introduce himself with confidence?

And honestly, compared to martial arts, the Daoist techniques recorded in the Daoist Canon were clearly a higher level of existence. Of course Bai Ye wasn't going to ignore them.

So now, he had to pick a few powerful and practical Daoist spells for himself.

After flipping through the Daoist Canon for a bit, he made his choice.

Right now, Bai Ye already had a decent set of abilities.

Ever since he obtained Innate Qi, his physical strength had taken another big leap. His inner power being converted to Qi had already shown huge results—his martial arts moves were way stronger than before.

On top of that, after modifyng Innate Qi, the Daoist Canon had automatically helped him comprehend the Golden Light Spell.

This top-tier technique from the Zhengyi sect at Mount Longhu was a perfect blend of offense and defense. Super practical.

Even better, both his martial arts and the Golden Light Spell didn't need him to spend too much time refining them anymore.

As long as he kept leveling up his Qi, his martial arts would become more powerful, and the Golden Light Spell would naturally evolve to the next stage.

So to Bai Ye, the most important thing right now was to master the Pure Yang Wuji Technique and get it to completion ASAP.

Once it hit full mastery, the technique would run automatically in his body like breathing—constantly drawing in spiritual energy from the world around him.

Aside from that, he didn't plan on wasting the valuable time in his inner world on the Golden Light Spell or basic martial arts anymore.

With his maxed-out comprehension buff, he should be tackling the hard stuff.

And that hard stuff was: Fenghou Qimen.

Now, let's talk about Qimen Dunjia.

According to the Daoist Canon, it first appeared way back in ancient times.

When the Yellow Emperor was fighting Chiyou, Chiyou's army had all sorts of monsters that could summon storms and rain, putting the Yellow Emperor in a tough spot.

To help him out, the Celestial Lady of the Nine Heavens came down and taught him Qimen Dunjia.

Only then did the Yellow Emperor turn the tide and beat Chiyou.

After that, he passed Qimen Dunjia to his advisor, Fenghou, who spent years refining and simplifying the method. Eventually, it was passed down to the Daoist sects.

That's why this version of Qimen is called Fenghou Qimen.

Bai Ye chose Fenghou Qimen for two main reasons.

First, it was crazy difficult.

Its foundation lies in using Qi to form arrays and tapping into the "Four Discs" of Heaven, Earth, Human, and Spirit, using the Eight Trigrams to manipulate the world.

Sounds easy, but in actual combat, you have to constantly track both your and your opponent's position on the trigram grid.

Then you have to pick the best spell for the situation. The number of variations you need to memorize and understand is basically infinite.

Without his maxed-out comprehension stat, Bai Ye would seriously doubt if he could even learn this thing.

Second, once you master Fenghou Qimen… you're practically unstoppable.

At first, sure, you still need to rely on following trigram positions and borrowing power from the heavens.

But at the peak of mastery, Bai Ye could reach a level where:

"I am the direction. I am the fate."

He would be able to freely move the Four Discs and directly command the power of the universe.

And yeah, "borrowing" and "commanding" power are two very different things.

Of course, learning Fenghou Qimen wasn't going to be quick and easy.

So while he'd spend most of his time on that, Bai Ye figured he might as well pick up some other skills to mix things up a bit.

Item Crafting:

According to the Daoist Canon, true Qi Refiners could literally craft anything using the right techniques and reinforce items with the power of the world.

Bai Ye didn't plan to use weapons, but it wouldn't hurt to make some useful gadgets for his journey.

Pill Refining:

This wasn't the internal alchemy Wudang taught, but the real thing—actual pills.

As a Daoist disciple, popping pills in a fight? That's basically the ultimate insult to your enemy. Gotta do it.

Talisman Drawing:

One of the most versatile and practical Daoist arts. Of course Bai Ye wasn't going to skip it.

So after thinking through more than 2,000 words worth of options, Bai Ye finally settled on his current modification goals.

Before entering his inner world, he'd asked Koby how long he had. According to him, Bai Ye had about three days in the real world, which translated to around a month inside the inner realm.

Not much time, and a lot to do. Bai Ye wasted no time and dove right into his training.

Time flies in the mountains. In the inner world, there are no days or nights...

When Bai Ye finally stepped out of his room, the pirate ship was just about to pull into port.

"Yo! You done training already?" Luffy called out.

Even though Bai Ye did come out for meals, Luffy thought it was crazy to stay holed up in a room all day like that. If he tried it, he'd probably go nuts.

"Yeah," Bai Ye nodded with a smile. "Didn't have much time, but I did get something out of it. The first few days were a bit rough though."

His smile was genuine, but deep down, he was feeling a little worn out. A whole month of intense training, even for someone like him—a Wudang disciple—was almost too much to handle.

He even started wondering if all those immortals in modofication novels who go into seclusion for thousands of years… might just end up losing their minds.

That was part of the reason he made himself come out for meals.

"Alright, let's head out! Time to find that bounty hunter and make him join our crew!" Luffy said excitedly, clapping his hands together and flashing his usual sunny grin.

They'd been stuck on the ship for days, and thanks to Alvida's fearsome reputation, even the Navy had been avoiding them.

Now that they were finally back on land, Luffy was itching to stretch his legs and maybe grab some grilled meat while he was at it.

"Eh, you go ahead. I've got some stuff to take care of at the Navy base," Bai Ye said, chuckling as he watched Luffy bounce around like a hyperactive monkey.

"You're going to the Navy? But we're pirates now! Shouldn't we be avoiding them?" Luffy blinked in confusion.

Even Luffy looked a bit puzzled after hearing what Bai Ye said.

"Normally that's true, but we've only just set out to sea. We don't even have a bounty yet, heck, we don't even have a pirate ship."

"In this kind of situation, as long as we don't say anything, who's gonna know we're pirates?"

Bai Ye patiently explained. In the original story, Luffy and Koby had arrived here on a tiny boat.

But Bai Ye had purposely brought the entire pirate crew for what he had planned next.

"Oh right, Luffy. Before you head to shore, I've got something fun to show you."

Bai Ye grinned as he spoke.

"Something fun? What is it?"

As expected, Luffy got excited just hearing that and looked at Bai Ye with anticipation.

Then the three of them headed to the part of the pirate ship where the treasure was kept. All of it had been packed into one big bundle by Koby.

As pirates, looting treasure after defeating enemies was basically standard practice.

"Luffy, keep your eyes open. Don't blink, alright?"

After saying that, Bai Ye walked over to the big bundle, placed his hand on it, and activated his power with a focused thought.

Whoosh—

"NANI?!"

Koby felt like everything he'd been through these past few days was more than he'd experienced in his entire life.

"Where's the bundle I just packed?!"

That huge bundle… how the heck did it just vanish into thin air???

"SU-GOI!!"

Compared to Koby's total shock, Luffy was just straight-up thrilled. He dashed to Bai Ye's side and started patting him down curiously.

"Bai Ye, are you a magician or something? Where'd you hide the bundle?!"

"Bai Ye sighed. 'Dude! Where the hell are you touching?!'"

"....."
