Chapter 2 - new orb of death

Wondrous Item, Legendary (requires attunement by a necromancer)

Effect 1: Negative Energy Absorption

When a creature dies within 60 feet of the attuned user, the orb absorbs negative emotional energy, gaining 1 charge. If the creature died with strong negative emotions toward the user (hatred, fear, vengeance), the orb gains an additional 1–2 charges (DM's discretion).

You can use these charges to cast necromancy spells you know or have prepared without expending spell slots. must still provide components and meet all other casting requirements.

Casting spells through the orb still requires concentration, if applicable.

2: Empowered Undead

Undead created using the orb's magic gain temporary hit points equal to twice the level of the spell used (e.g., 10 temp HP for a 5th-level Animate Dead).

Effect 3: Summon Skeletal Dragon (1/Month)

Once per month, the attuned user may expend 300 charges to summon a Skeletal Dragon. The dragon is loyal to you but acts on its own initiative in combat. It disappears if reduced to 0 HP or the duration ends.

Curse Item:

It is a sentient item and has an obsession over death that borders on worship. Ever since its creation, its only wish is to spread death across the world. Slowly over months it causes the Attuned user to have an obsession over death that matches it's own.

Aura of Death

If the orb fails to absorb any negative energy within 12 hours, the user must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or fall into a violent trance, attacking creatures at random until the orb regains at least 1 charge. Undead and constructs are ignored during this state.

While attuned, the user emits an unhideable aura of death, perceptible to all creatures. This aura:

Cannot be hidden by any magical or mundane means.

Causes disadvantage on Persuasion checks with non-evil creatures.

Causes hostile creatures to prioritize the user in combat.

May cause divine or holy-aligned NPCs to react violently.

This curse cannot be removed without a Wish spell or direct divine intervention. The orb will attempt to re-attune if ever removed, whispering to those nearby.
