I slid into the classroom with three minutes to spare. Kirishima had saved me a seat in the third row, with Mina and Momo to my right. Jiro sat to Momo's right, while Bakugo, Kaminari, and Sero lounged in the back row behind us.
"Yo, dude," Kirishima greeted me, grinning. "Cutting it close, huh?"
"Just took a walk," I replied, settling into my seat. "Ended up in the Support Department Wing and made some interesting discoveries."
"Like what?"
"Well, I don't know if you requested any support gear, but I did. Turns out mine's already done. I also met Power Loader there, and he hinted that this class is going to be really interesting."
Kirishima raised an eyebrow. "What does that mea—"
A sudden burst of laughter echoed from the hallway, interrupting our conversation.
"Ha ha ha ha ha!"
"I am..." The door burst open with theatrical force, and in strode All Might, his booming voice bouncing off the walls. "Coming through the door like a normal person!"
Despite the statement, he struck a full-blown heroic pose at the entrance, cape flowing behind him from the speed of his entrance. The room stilled, then erupted with awe and whispering excitement.
"Whoa," Kirishima muttered under his breath. "Power Loader seriously undersold this."
All Might strode confidently to the front of the class, flashing his signature smile.
"Welcome to the most important class at U.A.—Foundational Hero Studies!
Think of it as Heroing 101! Here, you'll learn what it means to stand tall as a pro, and to fight in the name of justice."
He threw a flex with one massive bicep and pulled out a card with the word "Battle!" in bold red lettering, holding it high.
"Let's dive in! Today's lesson will pull no punches!"
Then, with a dramatic spin, he pointed to the wall.
"But one of the keys to being a great hero is... looking good while doing it!"
A low mechanical rumble filled the room as twenty metal cases rose from a hidden panel along the wall All Might pointed at, each labeled with a student's last name.
"COSTUMES!" the class shouted in near-unison.
All Might's grin widened, proud and a little theatrical.
"Exactly!" he said. "These were made to match your quirks and the gear requests you submitted before school started. Suit up, then meet me at Ground Beta!"
The class practically buzzed with energy as chairs scraped back and students rushed for their cases.
There was an instant rush toward the locker rooms—half the class practically tripping over themselves in excitement to see what had been made for them. I moved with the crowd, not quite in a hurry, but definitely curious.
I keyed in my ID to the briefcase, and it hissed open to reveal everything I'd asked for.
First, the outfit itself. A pair of loose-fit black cargo pants, with multiple hidden compartments stitched into the thighs and calves. It was pretty basic, but this wasn't the important part.
Then came the boots. Sleek, high-ankle, with retractable soles built into the base. It would allow me to absorb material directly through my feet when needed.
Next was the support belt. The same one Mei had shown me earlier, segmented with dense strips of rubber, copper, tungsten, and steel. It looked even better now, integrated with my full gear loadout.
And finally, the raw materials.
I decided that I wouldn't have a top at all.
Instead of a full upper garment, I'd decided to let my quirk be the costume. Something visual. Unmistakable. I wanted to wear my power where everyone could see it.
I started by absorbing the high-density metal made by Mei. Most of my torso and right arm were covered in the black alloy. It clung to my form like liquid armor, shaped and curved to match every contour of muscle, giving me the look of a statue.
After that came the titanium. A light silver metal ran along my left arm, blending seamlessly into the black alloy across my torso. It extended up the side of my neck and across the right side of my face in sharp, clean lines that gave it a sleeker and more polished design.
And finally, something to add more presence.
My hair and the rest of my face was coated in synthetic diamond. I didn't have enough of it to actually use it as armor or a weapon.
But that wasn't the purpose anyways.
It was there to catch the light. To reflect, refract, draw the eye and leave a visual that couldn't be ignored. A shimmer with every turn of the head.
Just my own way of saying 'I Am Here'.
