Chapter 82 - Chapter 81

Sophia left the house in Ronin's care, and early the next morning, she headed to Peng City.

Before noon, she arrived and met up with Haiwen at a restaurant they had agreed on.

The restaurant was quiet and elegant. When Sophia found the reserved table, Haiwen was already there.

"Sophia!" Haiwen waved at her from a window seat.

Sophia noticed the diamond ring on Haiwen's finger and asked in surprise, "It's been a while. Are you engaged?"

Haiwen smiled sweetly. "Not yet. But my boyfriend proposed to me last week."

Sophia was surprised, especially since Amelia had mentioned something about her before.

Haiwen had only one younger brother who wasn't good at business, so it was likely she would inherit the family business.

Sophia couldn't help her curiosity.

She finally asked, "Who's your boyfriend? Is he from a big family?"

Haiwen didn't answer but smiled and asked, "What about you? I heard you spoiled your boyfriend by buying him two off-road vehicles at once, and both cost tens of millions. I'm really curious what kind of man has you so wrapped around his finger that you'd buy something just because he wants it."

"I wouldn't have the heart to spend like that."

Sophia sighed and smiled. "It's not what you think."

After thinking for a moment, she added, "He's more like a client."

Haiwen let out a long "Oh," the sound filled with meaning. "So, your client turned into your man?"

Sophia pursed her lips helplessly.

Only then did Haiwen stop teasing her.

"Back to business. The cars will clear customs this afternoon. They don't have license plates yet, so you can't drive them directly. I've arranged the transportation for you. Just let me know when you're ready to go."

The food was served, and the two of them ate while chatting.

Before Sophia could answer, Haiwen said, "If you're not in a rush, why don't you stay here a few more days? My engagement party is next week. You have to come!"

Sophia was about to agree but then remembered that General Yves was heading south soon to help with disaster relief. The reason she bought those two off-road vehicles was to make his travel easier.

So she replied, "I'll definitely come if I can, but I need to send the cars back first. Once that's done, I'll be free to have fun at your party."

Haiwen nodded. "Alright, then. I'll send you the invitation in the next couple of days. Amelia will be there too."

Sophia nodded.

After lunch, Haiwen suggested, "You don't need to rush back today. It's tiring to go back and forth like this. Stay the night."

Sophia agreed.

That afternoon, the two went shopping. Haiwen even took Sophia to her home. "Stay at my place tonight. I've already asked the housekeeper to prepare a guest room for you."

Sophia suddenly felt a little guilty. Haiwen had helped her with the car purchase, but she hadn't even brought a small gift to show her thanks.

Thankfully, she would be back for the engagement party soon. She made a mental note to prepare a thoughtful gift then.

Haiwen pulled Sophia into her room, excitedly showing her the engagement dress she liked.

"It's already being custom-made. I'll get it in the next couple of days."

"This one has more of a traditional Chinese style. I think gold earrings would match better."

Sophia's eyes landed on a dark red dress.

Haiwen got up quickly and brought over the jewelry she had already picked out from her dressing table. "I already bought these and planned the matching set, but now that you mention it, I feel like it's not quite right."

Sophia asked, "What kind of gold jewelry do you usually like? More elegant or more glamorous?"

Sophia looked at Haiwen's face while talking.

Haiwen had sharp, delicate features and deep-set eyes, with a bit of a mixed-race look.

Even wearing flashy jewelry didn't overshadow her looks. Sophia was already getting some ideas in her mind.

"You help me take a look?"

Haiwen brought over her own jewelry and started trying it on.

The two of them spent almost the whole afternoon just choosing accessories and trying on clothes.

After everything was done, Haiwen even called someone to come over to her house to give both of them a spa treatment.

"After we relax, we'll take a nap for a bit. Tonight we're going to have dinner at a seaside restaurant, and we'll also take a look at your car!"

Sophia listened to Haiwen's plan and agreed.

"When you have time, come visit my place too!"

Sophia showed Haiwen some photos on her phone.

They were pictures of her villa and the private museum on the third floor.

"Looks great!"

Haiwen nodded as she looked.

"You told me before that you lived in the countryside. Is the countryside this nice now? It doesn't seem worse than the city at all!"

Sophia smiled. "The countryside has more space!"

"Oh right, since you like courtyards so much, tomorrow before you leave, I'll take you to see one of the high-end villa projects our company developed."

Sophia didn't plan to buy a house in Pengcheng yet.

She didn't visit Pengcheng often, but she still agreed to go and have a look with Haiwen.

After relaxing for a while in the afternoon, Haiwen drove Sophia to dinner in the evening.

"There'll be a few friends joining us for dinner later."

It took a little over thirty minutes to reach the seaside.

The seaside in Pengcheng was always lively, whether it was a weekday or a holiday.

But the place Haiwen took her to was privately rented. There were hotels, restaurants, and coffee shops. Neon lights sparkled at night, but it was very peaceful. The whole stretch of beach was well-lit.

Haiwen led Sophia onto a boat. Inside, everyone was a stranger to her—except for one person she recognized a little.

It was Manager Su from Tianwei Entertainment, whom she had seen at a party before. Why was he here?

While Sophia was wondering about it, Haiwen started introducing her to everyone.

They were all people from Haiwen's social circle—either elegant, refined young men, or businessmen from finance and new industries.

Sophia gave a brief greeting to each of them. In the end, only Manager Su was left, and Haiwen smiled sweetly.

"You've met Manager Su before, right? Well, he's also my fiancé."

"Huh?"

Sophia was shocked and quickly tried to keep her expression neutral.

Suddenly, she remembered—no wonder Manager Su knew about her buying a car after she talked with Haiwen. So these two were a couple!

Sophia gave Manager Su a polite smile.

At the dinner table, everyone was talking about their own projects and sharing recent news in their industries.

Sophia couldn't really join in, so she quietly ate her food and listened.

"Miss Sophia, what line of work are you in?"

A man with phoenix-shaped eyes and slicked-back hair asked. He noticed Sophia wasn't joining in the conversation and only chatted casually with Haiwen now and then, so he asked on purpose.
