Chapter 4 - The Silent Surrender

Scene 1

The Silent Surrender

It was midnight at Aliza's house. The lights were still glowing faintly, and occasional laughter echoed softly from her bedroom window—fading into the silence of an eerie, empty road outside. A street that usually slept in darkness now bore an unusual sight: a black, sleek car parked quietly under the shadows.

Inside the room, Aliza sighed. "Sarah, let's play another game, yaar. This one's boring."

Sarah nodded. "Yes… but what?"

Aliza pressed her lips in confusion. "Truth or Dare?"

Sarah's eyes lit up. "Ahh! I've always wanted to play this properly. It's so interesting!"

Aliza grinned. "Okay then, let's go."

Sarah looked around. "Where's the bottle?"

"No need for a bottle, dude," Aliza said, smirking. "I've got a deck of 'Truth or Dare' cards—like actual printed ones. It's a cooler way to play."

She pulled the deck from her wardrobe, proud of her little twist on the classic game.

Sarah smiled. "Much better. Let's start!"

Their laughter returned for a while, carried by the wind outside. But soon, the voices softened… the room grew still… and the lights went out.

They drifted into sleep.

It was Sunday. No school tomorrow.

---

The next morning, Sarah stood near the door, slipping on her shoes and picking up her bag. "Okay… I'll see you next time. Bye!"

"Bye," Aliza called out with a wave.

Sarah stepped out, heading down the empty road. But just a few blocks away, a black car came to a smooth halt in front of her.

The window slid down slowly.

A cold, commanding voice said,

"Get in."

She didn't hesitate. No shock. No questions.

As if her mind had already accepted it—like her fate had been written in silence long ago.

She opened the door and stepped inside, slipping into the back seat with quiet grace.

Leaning back, she closed her eyes, her head resting against the seat.

There was no panic.

Only a still, heavy surrender.

---

Sarah's thoughts in the car:

Why do I feel this heaviness?

A strange guilt… like I've betrayed something inside me.

Should I ask him to play music?

Or maybe ask for the phone? But what will the driver think? Ugh… whatever.

She finally gathered her courage.

"Can you play a song?" she asked softly.

The driver, keeping his eyes on the road, replied, "Yes, miss. Which one?"

"You can give me the phone… I'll choose a playlist," she said, trying to sound normal.

Without hesitation, the driver handed over his phone. She scrolled through the list in silence, selected a few songs that made her feel calm, and handed it back.

"Please play these."

"Okay, miss," he replied, and soon, soft music filled the car.

Outside, the world kept moving.

Inside the car, Sarah sat still, eyes closed, letting the melodies soothe a storm only she could feel.
