"The Side Effects of the Mangekyō Sharingan"
"Don't screw with me, bro."
Aoki sighed wearily. The Boar-masked man's attacks were riddled with openings. With a casual flick of his Susanoo's arm, he sent another blow crashing towards him.
But this time, just as the Susanoo's arm was about to connect, the Boar-masked man suddenly slid downwards, his legs splitting apart in a low, sprawling stance. His twin Swords simultaneously lunged towards Aoki's feet. He had clearly observed that the first form of the Susanoo left the lower body exposed.
Aoki reacted instantly, drawing his Nichirin Sword and deflecting the incoming Swords with a powerful downward strike.
"Clang!"
The clash of steel echoed as Aoki's Sword met the attacker's, stopping their advance. Before the Boar-masked man could react, Aoki delivered a powerful knee strike to his chin, followed by another Susanoo-powered slap that sent him flying.
"Damn, is this guy a worm? His flexibility is insane."
Wiping sweat from his brow, Aoki felt a chill of fear. Without the Mangekyō Sharingan's enhanced perception, those Swords would have pierced him.
The system's voice then echoed in his mind.
"Ding!"
Inosuke Hashibira:
Personality: Reckless, Headstrong
Identity: None; raised by wild boars in the mountains
Skills possessed: Beast Breathing
Combat Power: 189 points
Overall Rating: Level Two
Favorability towards host: 0
"Phew, finally someone who doesn't start with negative favorability," Aoki thought, a strange sense of satisfaction washing over him. "And this guy's pretty strong. A Boar… a fitting name." He tapped his chin thoughtfully.
Meanwhile, Inosuke, having recovered from Aoki's second Susanoo attack, prepared for another round. But when he looked up, Aoki had vanished.
Standing there dumbfounded, a gust of wind snapped him back to reality.
"Aaargh! You damn coward! Don't let me catch you again!"
Inosuke's roar echoed through the forest, followed by repeated cries of "Boar Rush!"
Unwilling to waste more time with Inosuke, Aoki slipped away before the man could react, resuming his hunt.
With the Mangekyō Sharingan active, he experienced significant energy drain, but could maintain it for about half an hour. During that time, his perception was terrifyingly acute. He could even count the falling leaves, though he didn't need to. This demonstrated the Mangekyō Sharingan's terrifying power of observation.
Locating demons in the forest became significantly easier. Within half an hour, Aoki killed over twenty low-level demons, raising his combat power to 441 points—a seventy-point increase.
Normally, this would take a month. But on Mount Fujikasane, he achieved this in less than an hour. Coming here was definitely the right choice.
After half an hour of continuous Mangekyō Sharingan use, a severe pain shot through Aoki's eyes. He had no choice but to deactivate it. His previously crystal-clear vision returned to its usual blurry state, his perception at its lowest point since finishing his training.
"The Mangekyō Sharingan is powerful, but overuse has consequences," Aoki muttered, finding a clean boulder to lie on, plucking a Sword of grass to chew on.
The Mangekyo Sharingan, a powerful form of the Sharingan in the Naruto series, required witnessing the death of a loved one or killing one's self.
Aoki had chosen the Mangekyo Sharingan on his first day in this world. Aside from initial adaptation, he hadn't used it much in the past two years.
He hadn't had the opportunity or the need to use Amaterasu or Tsukuyomi. He certainly wouldn't use them on Tanjiro or Urokodaki Sakonji. The power was too great; he feared accidentally killing them.
Another, more crucial reason existed. In Naruto, the Mangekyo Sharingan, while incredibly powerful, caused gradual vision loss and physical deterioration with overuse.
Over the past two years, Aoki had only used the Sharingan's enhanced perception, avoiding its other abilities. His vision remained excellent, any degradation negligible.
Lying on the boulder, a Sword of grass dangling from his mouth, Aoki closed his eyes, not to sleep, but to rest his eyes. Though his eyes were closed, his ears remained alert, ready to react to any disturbance. He would draw his Nichirin Sword without hesitation if necessary, sheathing it if the threat was human.
