Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Musashino Dojo Is Saved!

"You call this being a master? Being so irresponsible toward your disciple?"

Musashino Giken's scolding made Kenta's expression a bit awkward.

"Sigh, you use this wooden sword for now, I used this one before."

From the nearby cabinet, he took down a wooden sword and handed it to Shin-chan.

This wooden sword was very refined, and it also had many scars on it, clearly it had been used often.

For most kendo practitioners, the frequency of using wooden swords is higher. Whether for practice or sparring, wooden swords are much safer.

Gripping the wooden sword, Shin-chan felt a different kind of power surging from within his body. This wooden sword seemed to become a part of his body.

"Rokushin, come here for a moment."

With Musashino Giken's call, a student who looked about the same age as Shin-chan, probably also a high schooler, walked over.

"This is Aikou Rokushin, a third-year student at Shuchiin Academy. Currently a fifth dan in kendo, he's also the captain of the Shuchiin Kendo Club."

"This is Shin-chan, my son's disciple. He's about to enroll in Shuchiin. I hope you can test his kendo level a bit."

Aikou Rokushin was about 1.78 meters tall, with a sturdy build and a broad, honest face. He had squinted eyes, and wearing a white kendo uniform, he looked quite powerful, partly due to those eyes.

"Hello, junior." Aikou Rokushin greeted Shin-chan with a cheerful tone, but his squinty eyes were so noticeable that his smile came off as a little sinister.

"Hello." Suppressing the agitation in his heart after gripping the sword, Shin-chan nodded to Aikou Rokushin.

"I wonder what dan junior is in kendo? Want to join the kendo club after school starts? Our Shuchiin Kendo Club is really lacking in members right now."

"I've never taken any kendo ranking tests. After joining a competition in kindergarten, I haven't practiced kendo again."

"Huh?"

Shin-chan's reply clearly went beyond Aikou Rokushin's expectations. 'As the disciple of Musashino Kenta's son, he should at least be a third or fourth dan, right?'

"Shin-chan indeed hasn't practiced kendo for a long time, but his talent is extraordinary. You absolutely must not underestimate him."

Musashino Kenta cut in at the right time. He very much recognized Shin-chan's talent, firmly believing that Shin-chan had incredibly terrifying sword potential hidden within.

"All right, a simple test, remember to keep it light, no need to wear protective gear."

To break through to sixth dan in kendo, one must abandon wooden swords and protective gear, stepping into real combat. For those aiming to become kendo masters, most don't choose to wear protective gear during practice or duels.

"Come on, junior, let's have a simple match."

Aikou Rokushin picked up his own wooden sword and walked onto the field. The other kendo students nearby, seeing that a match was about to happen, gathered to watch the commotion.

Shin-chan held his wooden sword and slowly walked to stand opposite Aikou Rokushin.

"You go first."

He was the senior, and since this junior hadn't practiced kendo in a long time, it was only proper to let Shin-chan attack first. This would show his generosity and help convince the junior to join the kendo club.

Shin-chan didn't reply. Ever since he picked up the wooden sword, he had felt something strange, an emotion suppressed for so long in his heart was about to explode. Only by swinging the sword could he release it.

Before his system awakened, no one except him realized that time was looping endlessly.

Living who knows how many years as a five-year-old, Shin-chan's heart had always been suppressed. Pure happiness felt too fake, making him feel like a puppet being controlled on a stage. If those days kept continuing, Shin-chan might have gone insane.

Shin-chan was a natural-born sword master. This ability perhaps came from some anime setting. After the system altered this world, it became a fixed passive skill.

After all, when he was five, he could already use chopsticks to slice a falling leaf midair.

What was his kendo? Those called "sword masters" in Japanese history were all famous for eternity, capable of founding their own schools. So as a natural sword master, what did Shin-chan's kendo look like?

Shin-chan raised his head and looked at the opposite Aikou Rokushin.

Just that one glance made cold sweat pour from Aikou Rokushin. Shin-chan's eyes had no emotion in them, calling them dead fish eyes wouldn't be wrong.

But Shin-chan's gaze was unimaginably sharp, making him feel like he was being stared at by an unknown wild beast.

'I'll die. I'll definitely die. I have to escape!'

But before he could take the next step, Shin-chan's sword had already come down.

From the moment Shin-chan looked up, he had already drawn everyone's attention. Although the move was fast, it gave the illusion of extreme slowness, as if everything froze because of his sword swing.

As Shin-chan's sword slashed toward him, Aikou Rokushin's face was still full of fear. He only had time to instinctively raise his sword to block.

There was no imagined force, Aikou Rokushin just felt his hand lighten and a gust of wind brush across his face.

The wooden sword in his hand broke. Shin-chan's wooden sword cut through it like slicing tofu, without any resistance, it severed his sword with one clean cut.

The wooden sword stopped just one inch away from Aikou Rokushin's face, not going any further.

Everyone watching had a strong sense of déjà vu, as if if Shin-chan's sword really continued, it would have cleanly split Aikou Rokushin's head right down the middle from his cheek.

'Terrifying. Truly terrifying.'

It wasn't until Shin-chan withdrew his sword that everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

"Shin-chan! Truly worthy of being my disciple!" Musashino Kenta didn't seem to notice anything wrong at all.

Musashino Giken also came back to his senses. "This…"

This was the so-called amazing sword talent his son mentioned? Isn't this way too exaggerated? Musashino Giken thought to himself, even if he were injury-free, he absolutely couldn't have received that sword just now.

'A reincarnated sword master? The Musashino Dojo is saved!'

Aikou Rokushin gasped heavily. Just now, he really thought he was going to die. He threw the broken half of his wooden sword to the ground and suddenly felt a chill on his face. Reaching up, he found a handful of fresh blood.

Wasn't that strike supposed to not hit him? Why was he bleeding?

Cough! Cough!

"Don't just stand there! Continue your training! Shin-chan is the future heir of our dojo and has always been practicing kendo. That Iaido slash just now was the result of many years of bitter training!" Musashino Giken spoke up, slightly altering the truth, declaring Shin-chan as the sole heir of Musashino Dojo and a kendo genius who had trained for years.

"All right, Shin-chan, come with me."
