Zichen tried to keep his emotions in check. Suddenly, he took Liang's hand, stood up quickly, and said, "I'll go get some water. You can continue working." Without waiting for a reply, he walked away.
Liang sat frozen, her hand still stuck in the soil like she was trying to plant it. Then, as if snapping out of a trance, she jumped up and began pacing in circles. Meanwhile, Zichen was gulping down water, fanning his apron to cool himself down.
Back in the present, Liang turned to me and sighed, "Qin, I think we've both fallen in love... but when we're together, it's just awkward."
I burst out laughing. "Liang, you're always awkward! You're a walking awkward moment."
She kicked my leg and then noticed something. "Wait—why are you blushing?"
Smirking, I confessed, "Liang... Lu proposed to me."
Her head whipped around in shock. "He what? How did he do it?!"
"Just... in the middle of the road," I said nonchalantly.
Liang burst into laughter. "I thought he'd bring a ring and propose like in dramas!"
I playfully smacked her on the head. "He doesn't need a ring or expensive things. His heart is enough for me."
Liang's laughter faded a little as she looked over at the flowers with a quiet smile, almost wistful.
I noticed and gently asked, "Liang, shall we go to the flower shop tomorrow?"
She tried to hide her excitement. "Why?"
"I want to buy flowers for Lu," I said with a shy grin.
Liang's face lit up. She jumped to her feet, grabbed my hands, and hugged me tight. Then, like a giddy child, she ran inside with a laugh. I stood there, shaking my head with a smile of disbelief, before following her in.
