Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Secrets of the Past

Logically, Oceanus, as Tethys's husband, should be just as powerful.

But he hasn't gained much fame yet!

Ares paused, then continued, "This matter is related to the Titanomachy. The land we purified earlier was filled with residual resentment from the Titanomachy."

"Möbius, you might have been born too late, so you're not very clear about this. Although it's not a big secret, don't spread it casually on Olympus. After all, some Titan gods still exist!" Ares warned.

"Of course, Your Highness Ares, how could I do such a thing! I'm not some Muse goddess who wants to spread poetry or anything." Möbius replied.

Ares looked at Möbius's assurance, nodded, and continued, "In the beginning, the twelve Titan gods were dissatisfied with the tyranny of the second generation God King, Cronus, the god of space."

"Thus, the current God King, Zeus, came into being as an existence to oppose Cronus," Ares said.

"Wait a minute, His Majesty Zeus was conceived because of the dissatisfaction of the twelve main gods?" Möbius asked, somewhat puzzled.

"Yes, he is the one prophesied to defeat Cronus!" Ares nodded and said, "The power of fate is unfathomable. Whatever is prophesied will always come true."

"Prophecy can only be delayed, not avoided," Ares replied.

Although Möbius felt something was off, he couldn't pinpoint what it was and didn't raise any questions.

So Ares continued, "Among these twelve main gods, the second generation God King Cronus had seven Titan gods supporting him, while my father, the current God King Zeus, only had five Titan gods. These five are Mnemosyne, the goddess of memory."

"Themis, the goddess of justice and order, and Rhea, Zeus's mother, symbolizing the irreversible flow of time."

"Then there are Oceanus, the world river we just met, and Tethys, the mother of all waters."

"Before being imprisoned in Tartarus, Cronus unleashed a final blow, which directly shattered Oceanus's divinity, and rampant spatial power coursed through his body," Ares continued.

"Therefore, Oceanus's body is like a bomb, and if he's not careful, he'll have to return to the world to be reborn!"

Möbius scratched his head and said, somewhat puzzled, "I remember that the origin can regenerate a divine body! What's wrong with dying? He can still be resurrected, so why doesn't Her Highness Tethys let His Highness Oceanus die?"

Ares stroked his head and softly said, "Hmm, I'm not sure about that either. Perhaps it's because Oceanus is the source of water, and all rivers come from Oceanus."

"Alright, let's not talk about this anymore. Let's go see my father first; he's very interested in you now!" Ares said with a chuckle.

Möbius wasn't surprised, after all, a healing deity is popular everywhere, isn't he?

Soon, Ares led Möbius to Zeus's temple. The majestic temple made Möbius involuntarily exclaim in wonder.

The colossal temple gates burst open before him, and a cascade of liquid gold-like light poured out, forcing Möbius to retreat step by step under the pressure emanating from within the gates.

This was Zeus's way of asserting dominance, Möbius thought to himself.

"Come in, dear Möbius."

Zeus's voice was like ten thousand thunderbolts exploding simultaneously deep within his skull. Möbius's pupils suddenly constricted to pinpricks. He saw his shadow stretch into a twisted ribbon, trembling on the carpet woven from lightning.

The main hall's dome was a solidified thundercloud, with thousands of lightning chariots arrayed among the clouds. As Möbius looked up, a purplish-blue plasma dripped from a chariot axle, corroding bottomless fissures at his feet.

The neighing of warhorses transformed into solidified sound waves. The twelve-leaf silver chain on his left ear clattered, and golden divine blood slid down his neck, only to be drawn away by Zeus's power before it touched the gilded floor tiles.

"Such a familiar scent," the figure on the throne said.

Möbius finally saw the torso forged from stars—Zeus's right arm was wrapped in unextinguished lightning, and his left hand was stroking the bronze griffin crouching beside him.

Every feather of the griffin radiated lightning, and just by looking at it, Möbius felt a tingling numbness from the electricity.

Suddenly, the sweet scent of decaying golden apples permeated the air. Möbius realized with a start that his healing power was spiraling out of control. The divine power that should have gently soothed pain was now wildly tearing at his divine body.

He knelt on one knee, not daring to look into Zeus's eyes, his head bowed. Utterly submissive.

"You are my child," the blood on Zeus's hand began to squirm, flowing towards Möbius's body, "Möbius."

"I am your child?" Möbius didn't feel happy; instead, cold sweat streamed down his face. If that were the case, what if Zeus suspected him of being the prophesied child? Wouldn't that be the end?

"But don't worry," Zeus stepped down from the throne, "Fortunately, you are not the last child born; a new generation of gods is already being conceived at this moment."

Hearing Zeus's words, Möbius breathed a sigh of relief. As long as he wasn't targeted, everything would be fine.

"Do you want to be my subordinate god?" Zeus held lightning in one hand and teased the giant eagle beside him with the other, his oppressive aura assailing Möbius, as if to force him into submission.

Möbius lowered his head, thought for a moment, and said, "I apologize, Your Majesty Zeus, I am already a subordinate god of His Highness Ares. There is no difference between me being his subordinate god and your subordinate god."

Zeus chuckled and said, "The vassal of my vassal is not my vassal. I don't think you'd misunderstand such a simple matter, Möbius! As someone who became a god from a daemon, I imagine you are very intelligent."

"On Mount Olympus, only I can protect you. Countless gods are eager for you; you wouldn't want to become another god's toy, would you!" Zeus threatened with a smile.

Indeed, he came with ill intentions. Just now, he couldn't understand why Zeus wanted to see him alone. So, this was his plan: to make him Zeus's exclusive property.

Möbius instinctively took a step back, then suddenly, he thought of something!
