Chapter 11 - Chapter 11:Nami's Past

Seeing Buggy stand up and continue to attack Nami, Luffy unhesitatingly stretched out both hands and hugged Buggy tightly like he was holding a child. Then, he spun around fiercely, using all his strength to throw Buggy backward. With a loud "thump," Buggy was slammed to the ground like a cannonball, kicking up a cloud of dust.

"Gum-Gum Scythe!" Luffy seized the opportunity to attack again, his arm stretching rapidly like rubber, then curving into a scythe shape, striking straight at Buggy.

Buggy was startled by the sight and quickly used his signature move, "Chop-Chop Emergency Escape." His body instantly split into countless fragments, scattering like a swarm of startled bees, successfully dodging Luffy's attack.

However, just as Buggy was about to use "Chop-Chop Festival" to reassemble his body, he suddenly realized that all that was left of his body was a head and two hands and feet!

"What's going on?!" Buggy screamed in horror.

It turned out that while he was dodging Luffy's attack, Nami had already quietly circled behind him. Holding a large sack, she quickly scooped up all of his scattered body fragments into the sack and tightly sealed the opening before Buggy noticed.

"Nice work, Nami!" Luffy shouted excitedly when he saw this.

Then, he turned to Buggy, who was trapped in the sack, and flashed a cunning smile: "Get ready for takeoff, Buggy! Gum-Gum Rocket!"

With that, Luffy's feet pushed off the ground like rockets, and he shot towards Buggy like an arrow released from a bowstring. In a blink of an eye, he was in front of Buggy and used all his strength to send Buggy flying.

Looking at the flying Buggy, Luffy took off the hat from his back and looked at the few cuts on it, a sad expression on his face.

Nami looked at Luffy's sorrowful face, and a feeling of pity welled up in her heart. She slowly walked over to Luffy and said gently, "Luffy, give me your hat. I can help you mend it. I'll give it back to you after I'm done."

When Luffy heard Nami's words, his previously dejected face suddenly broke into a brilliant smile. He unhesitatingly handed the worn-out hat to Nami, as if it were his most precious treasure.

Just then, hurried footsteps approached. Everyone looked over to see the mayor of Orange Town running over, panting. He asked anxiously, "I'm the mayor of this town. What in the world happened here? Did you fight the Buggy Pirates? I saw the explosions in town from a distance on another island, so I rushed over to check on the situation."

Luffy replied proudly, "That's right, Mayor! We just defeated the Buggy Pirates!"

Upon hearing this, the mayor's worry instantly turned into surprise. He said excitedly, "Really? You really defeated the Buggy Pirates? That's wonderful! Ever since Buggy came to our town, we haven't been able to go home and have lived in fear. Now you've finally helped us drive away this evil force, and we can finally go home in peace!"

"Our benefactors, please wait in town. I'll go call all the townspeople back. We don't have much to thank you with, but tonight, we'll hold a banquet to thank you for driving away the Buggy Pirates. Please sit down, I'll go call them back now."

After saying that, the mayor left without delay.

Seeing everyone idle, Shin'ya walked over and said, "Do you want to check Buggy's treasure room again to see if there's anything else? Don't we need a map of the Grand Line? Do you want to go in and look for it?"

Before Luffy could even answer, Nami eagerly interjected, "I have the map right here! When I went in to steal treasure earlier, I brought the map with me. If you want it, I can give it to you directly. And I'm willing to share half the treasure with you too!"

Before her words even finished, Nami quickly handed the map to Luffy, then picked out half of a pile of treasure and handed it to Shin'ya, asking him to hold it.

Luffy happily took the map and shouted excitedly, "Wahahaha, this is great! We finally got the map to the Grand Line!"

Zoro, who was standing by, calmly reminded him, "Luffy, even though we have the map, we don't have a suitable ship yet. So, I think we should get a good ship first so we can sail better on the Grand Line."

Luffy thought for a moment after hearing this, then said, "Hmm, you're right, Zoro! Then let's hurry and find a good ship! But I think we don't need to wait for the mayor and them; we can just head straight to the next island!"

Before long, everyone arrived at the place where the ships were docked by the sea.

Nami smiled slightly and said softly, "Hmm, I don't really have any other special places I want to go right now. I originally planned to go home, but it's quite a long journey. So, I'd like to sail with you for a while and also help you out as a navigator for a bit, so you don't get lost in this vast ocean and end up starving to death."

Zoro heard this and looked at Nami with interest, a slight smirk on his lips as he teased, "Oh~ So you're a navigator? That's great, we just happen to be missing a navigator here. Why don't you just join us? That way, our crew will be even more perfect!"

Luffy heard Zoro's words and immediately chimed in excitedly, "Yeah, Nami, join us! With such a skilled navigator like you, we'll definitely reach our destination faster!"

However, facing Zoro and Luffy's enthusiastic invitation, Nami shook her head and explained with a smile, "I can't join you, It's not that I don't want to, it's just that I can't."

"We can talk as we walk," Shin'ya said.

Before long.

On the way to the next island, Shin'ya looked at Nami and said, "Nami, are you worried about your village?

Nami looked surprised and asked "How did you know?"

"I visited your village once when I was traveling, so I know about your village's situation."

(Of course, it's a lie...He's never been there before)

Then, his gaze slowly turned to Luffy and Zoro, and he continued, "Many years ago, Nami's hometown suffered a terrible disaster. A group of fish-man pirates suddenly invaded her village. These fish-men took over the entire village with their immense power."

At this point, his voice lowered slightly, as if filled with emotion about that history. Then, he described in detail the oppression of the villagers by the fish-man pirates: "Under the fish-men's rule, the villagers' lives became extremely difficult. They were required to pay a large amount of Berries every month to save their lives. If anyone couldn't pay on time, the fish-men would mercilessly kill them."

Shin'ya took a deep breath and continued, "That's why Nami is so obsessed with treasure. She desperately wants to accumulate enough wealth to buy the entire village at once and free the villagers from the fish-men's enslavement. However, the fish-men's demand is as high as 100 million Berries, which is undoubtedly an astronomical sum for an ordinary person."

Finally, Shin'ya's gaze returned to Nami, and he said earnestly, "Nami, Even if you painstakingly gather 100 million Berries, I don't think the Fish-Man Pirates will easily agree to let you buy the village. They'll likely use various methods, either stealing or robbing, to take the money for themselves, making it impossible for you to ever meet their demands."

Luffy said seriously, "Nami, wait. We'll go back with you. We'll defeat the fish-men and rescue your village, and then I'll invite you to join us."

Zoro's face was filled with killing intent as he said, "Don't worry, Nami, we'll help you cut down those fish-man pirates."

Nami said sadly and fearfully, "It's impossible. You can't defeat the fish-men. Their strength is tens of times that of humans. You'll just be going to your deaths."

Shin'ya, however, smiled and said, "I was going to tell you eventually, but I'd tell you now. I'm actually really strong."

"Nami, Luffy, and Zoro, today I'll let you witness how powerful the top forces on the sea are, and also let Nami have some confidence in us. Our captain wants to become the Pirate King, and he still needs your help, Nami," Shin'ya said with a smug expression.
