Mira first noticed Daniel in a bookstore in the dead of winter.
He was standing in the poetry section, flipping through a worn copy of an old poetry book that she could very much recognize as it made her shed tears from reading.
She could not help but comment, "That one always makes me tear up whenever I read it."
Daniel looked at her and smiled,"Then I'll buy it, just in case I ever need to cry too.", he said.
They talked for hours that day—about books, music, and the way people feel the loneliest in crowded places.
Daniel was gentle, and kind.
Mira could say he was also charming.
With his Dark black hair and obsidian colored eyes, Mira could say he was exceptional in her eyes.
He paid attention to every little thing she said and listened to her, unlike the people around her.
From that day onward, they met up almost every single day "by chance", and talked for hours. Like they were in their own world.
Mira felt seen.
The way he would always listen to her talking about things she likes and her dog, the way he would always treat her gently, it was very new to her.
She felt somewhat heard and seen.
Two years later, after knowing and understanding each other, they started dating.
It was perfect.
He always knew what she wanted or needed even though she had not told him anything yet.
Flowers would appear on her doorstep every morning.
Her favorite coffee will already be waiting for her on mornings she hadn't told him she was going to be in early for work.
And he wrote her letters every few days.
Not texts—actual letters. With pressed petals and messy, emotional handwriting.
She felt seen.
She felt as though, even he was not there physically, he was always there.
Although she always wondered how he knew everything she wanted or needed, she shrugged it off of her mind and focused on the positive side of thinking.
That maybe he just knew her too well.
But then, things started to shift.
