"For real? Seriously? No joke?"
Aya, my best friend, and I are currently at the café. Hehe. I haven't introduced her yet, have I? Sorry about that.
"I'm serious. And do I look like someone who would joke about something like that? Oh my God!"
Then I slumped back onto the table. Because seriously, how the heck am I supposed to do what Sheen asked me to do? I feel like hanging myself would be easier!
"Tss. This is all your fault. When it comes to Sheen, you're always just 'go go go' without even thinking. Then again, have you ever used your brain?"
I smacked her on the head.
"Are you even really my friend?! Geez!"
"Hehehe. Just kidding. Don't be so sensitive. Anyway, let's change the topic. How do you plan to pull off your Mission Impossible: Seducing Drake Palma? You do know that guy's a little... autistic, right?"
Right! Autistic. Always sleeping in class. But when there's a quiz? Perfect score. Unfair! I stay awake and still fail. Meanwhile, he's asleep and aces everything! What the hell—does he dream about the lectures? What kind of sorcery is that?!
"I seriously don't know. I have no idea. Bestie, please help me."
I even gave her my signature twinkling eyes look. I badly need help!
"Shut up! I don't even have a boyfriend. How am I supposed to help you?"
"Ugh! Life, why are you so hard on me? I just want to be Sheen's girlfriend... Ouch!!"
She suddenly smacked me on the head!
"You're being too emo. Ew."
"You really don't have any suggestions? Tips? Advice?"
"You know what?"
I shook my head.
"There's your target. Come on, let's follow him. Hurry!"
And so, we ditched our food and tailed Drake. I swear, I felt like James Bond!
We ended up at the back of St. Claire's High School building (St. Claire's Academy is for college), and then Drake stopped and lay down under a tree. Looks like he's planning to take a nap again. Definitely autistic.
"Let's just go! He's only going to sleep again anyway!"
So I turned around and started walking away. Ugh, I wasted my fries and sundae just to watch this guy nap...
"Wait a sec!! There's a girl coming!"
I stopped walking and came back. She was right—there really was a girl approaching. I didn't know her, but she looked like she was in the same grade. And in fairness, she's pretty. But obviously, I'm prettier. Wahaha!
They were talking, but we couldn't hear anything. But since Aya and I are practically born gossipers, we got closer. And voila~ we could hear their conversation!
"Drake, I want you to be my boyfriend!" said the pretty girl. Damn! I salute your courage, girl! Go!
"K." Drake replied. What the—was that it?!
The girl smiled, but then Drake turned around and started walking back to his tree.
"We're breaking up." he said.
Another what the—was that it?!
The girl stood there, stunned. "W-What do you mean break up? We just became a couple a minute ago, and now we're breaking up?"
"That's all you girls want, right? To be able to brag that I was your boyfriend? Well, there—you got it. Now go away."
Then he lay back down again. The girl ran off crying.
You're the worst, Drake Palma! Karma will come for you!
We made it back to Aya's classroom, and thank goodness the teacher was late, so we didn't get scolded.
"See, Bestie? It's actually easy to make Drake your boyfriend. So easy to talk to! Soooo easy!" Aya said sarcastically.
True, he's like the boyfriend of the entire school. Public property or whatever. Because seriously...
"Ugh—"
"So just do what that pretty girl did, then tell your love Sheen that you guys already broke up. Problem solved."
Okay, not a bad idea.
"But it's embarrassing. He's our classmate. That girl was from a different section, so it wasn't as awkward..."
"That's fine! Maybe he doesn't even know you're classmates. Or maybe... he doesn't even know you exist! You know how he's always asleep. So don't worry, Bestie." She's got a point.
"Okay, fine. I'll tell him later, and then I'll let Sheen know we already broke up."
"Good luck with your Mission Impossible, Bestie!"
And so, class went on. I planned to confess at dismissal. Ugh! I'm setting aside my pride for Sheen. Damn love, always turning me into a fool.
There it is—dismissal! Everyone was already leaving the room, but Drake was still slumped in his armchair. Classic.
After 15 minutes, finally! Sleeping Prince woke up. He grabbed his bag, stretched, and walked out of the room. I quietly followed him. I'll do it once we're off campus—I don't want any gossip.
When I was sure we were far from school grounds, I tapped him on the shoulder. Yes, Alys! You can do this! Let's go!
He turned to look at me.
"Drake Palma, you're now my boyfriend."
He rolled his eyes and turned away. Seriously, so autistic
I counted out loud:
"Five"
"Four"
"Three"
"Two"
"One"
"We're broken up. Okay, bye."
Then I ran away. Yes! Mission accomplished! Wahaha! Sheen never said I had to be his boyfriend for long, right? I'm so smart!
At least, not in academics!
The next day, I was so excited to tell Sheen the good news. Mwehehe. You're so clever, Alys.
I'll treat you to ice cream later.
"La, la, la~"
I hummed on my way to the rooftop, since that's Sheen's usual hangout spot. It was still early, so I decided to stop by there first.
But when I opened the door, I saw Kei and Sheen talking...
"Why did you ask me to come here?" Kei asked.
"I love you, and I want you back..."
Ouch!
That hurts.
"Don't you get it, Sheen? We're over!"
"Why are you being like this? Is this because of Drake Palma?!"
Whoa! Sheen's shouting! Scary!
"Yeah, so what? What can you do about it?"
"Kei, come on! You know that guy's a playboy! Why are you so obsessed with him?! He always has a girlfriend!"
"I know. But he always breaks up with them."
"Exactly! He always breaks up with them! So why are you still so desperate for him?!"
"Because I'm going to prove I'll be the first girl he takes seriously."
Then she turned and walked away. I immediately hid.
Ugh! Just when I thought everything was going well. I was the one who had to break up. Now I have to get them back together too?! What kind of ridiculous life is this?!
