Chapter 36 - Resurrection

He was foolish, but not crazy; Doni deeply understood how strong Voban really was.

However, a dramatic scene unfolded a few minutes after both of them emerged from the strange space.

The God Slayer, considered one of the strongest, was defeated so easily that Doni even forgot why he had come.

Do you think the old man really dies that easily?

Kaido looked at the astonished Doni, who was not far away, and spoke with indifference.

Since Voban has left the stage, it should be your turn. Don't blame me if you die.

The True Longinus, which should have been subdued, once again emitted a dazzling divine light, and a wave of magical power, no weaker than before, expanded from Kaido.

The atmosphere once again resonated with shrill screams.

What do you say? Although I love to fight, I'm not a despicable villain.

Upon hearing Kaido's threat, Doni not only didn't take it seriously but also put away his weapon, indicating his current attitude.

It's not becoming of a chivalrous knight to raise a weapon against you, who has just gone through a great battle. Moreover, if I were to attack you here, Andre would scold me to death when I return.

Doni smiled helplessly, the sharpness he had when he first burst onto the battlefield had long since disappeared.

Although he was externally considered a hot-headed fool, he was a fairly decent person, apart from not having taken on the responsibility of a king.

It didn't matter how imposing Kaido pretended to be; Doni's keen warrior intuition still allowed him to determine that Kaido was now much weaker than before.

Although Doni loved to fight, he would never take advantage of someone's weakness.

"You're really an idiot."

Kaido knew that continuing to hide would be useless; even if he trusted himself to defeat Doni, he probably wouldn't even have the strength to stand up after the battle.

"Oh, don't be so cold! We're comrades who fight side by side, after all!"

Doni laughed with a joking expression.

"But I owe you a favor this time, so how about I come to look for you to fight once you've recovered?"

"If you're not afraid of being beaten to death, then feel free to come."

Kaido didn't mind and nodded with a slight smile.

Although he was quite foolish, his character was beyond reproach; he was not the type of conspirator who would stab others in the back.

"But if you really want to fight, why not watch the Balkan Peninsula in two months?"

"The Balkan Peninsula? Isn't that where Voban lives?" Doni scratched his neck, unsure of Kaido's intentions.

Voban didn't really die; the power of the Black Dragon should resurrect him in about three months. At that time, you can watch him and fight him as soon as he appears.

Kaido said with a smile.

"Resurrection? But shouldn't he be very weak right after resurrecting, right? No, I'm not that kind of person."

Doni was initially interested but reacted quickly.

His situation is different from mine. Voban is one of the oldest God Slayers; you're just a novice, with less authority and little combat experience. Moreover, isn't it proper for veterans to yield to novices?

Kaido maintained a serious facade, but inside, he began to attract this little fool.

Isn't it Voban who always liked to act superior because of his age? If you go there, then he definitely won't say anything.

"Huh? That does seem plausible."

Doni regained his senses, and after careful consideration, Kaido's words seemed to make some sense.

Before, they had been pursued for a long time because he had stolen Voban's prey halfway.

Won't he be at the same level as himself once he becomes weak for a time?

A fair battle was what Doni desired; being thrown around like a ball by Luo Hao on Mount Lu had already become a psychological trauma.

Since you've thought it through, go back. Anyway, there's nothing to worry about here.

Oh, right, where's that little Goddess? She seemed to have disappeared when the battle started.

Doni asked quickly.

She probably left. An incomplete Goddess wouldn't show herself to us like that.

Kaido smiled, activating the True Longinus's ability and flying towards the coast.

He had deceived Atenea today and wasn't going to let it go. She probably wouldn't take long to come knocking on his door.

At that time, he would have many opportunities to discipline her.

Although this was a world where God Slayers and Heretic Gods were mortal enemies, Atenea was the only Heretic Goddess who wouldn't easily harbor hostility towards a God Slayer.

Killing Atenea could grant powerful authorities, but if one could subdue a Goddess to become their familiar, the effect would definitely be much greater than the former.

"Enough idle chatter. I should also return."

After bidding farewell to Doni, Kaido transformed into a ray of light and disappeared over the sea.

Upon returning to the dock, everything was in disarray. The road, previously clean, was filled with jumping sea creatures, and the plastic advertisements on the bus stop signs were discolored and bloated from seawater.

The situation in Adria City after the previous battle was not optimistic.

Although the tsunami caused by the magical power was blocked by the barriers carved by dozens of magicians, the furious storm still caused immense destruction in the city.

The closer the buildings were to the coast, the more severe the damage was.

Just the persistent aftermath had caused a huge disaster. If it had happened in the city center, everyone in it would have died.

Several magicians, who were slumped on the ground, almost exhausted of magical power from resisting the tsunami, looked at the tragic state of the coastal city and sighed with persistent fear.

"Fortunately, our King had foresight and chose the battlefield far from the continent, in the ocean."

God Slayers were walking natural disasters, human nuclear bombs that could detonate at any moment. A single move from them could easily destroy a city. If they weren't served well, some place might disappear forever from the world map.

"Your Majesty, you've finally returned."

When Kaido returned to the cruise ship, Erica and Liliana, who were walking back and forth on the deck, immediately ran to greet him.

It had been a long time since the storm had subsided, but the two girls, who hadn't received any news, were overwhelmed with anxiety. Although they had wet clothes from the heavy rain, they didn't dare to go to the bathroom to change.

They were unaware of the outcome of the Demon King's War. As mortals, the girls weren't qualified to intervene in the war between God Slayers, so they could only stay still and wait anxiously.

How are you? Where are Marquis Voban and the Sword King? And the Goddess? Are you hurt? Tell me if you feel any pain!

Erica, who had arrived before Kaido, asked with enthusiasm.

Due to the heavy rain, the girl's skin clung tightly to her crimson evening dress, outlining her curvaceous figure, and her golden hair had lost its usual vigor, falling lifelessly.

Liliana, whose lines were stolen, didn't have time to argue with Erica; her heroic eyes revealed concern.

Upon seeing his two adorable knights again, Kaido laughed happily.

Isn't it obvious? When has your king ever failed?

Having eliminated Voban, this potential threat, Kaido's mood was undoubtedly much better, and he laughed out loud in the dark night.

Upon hearing this, Erica's eyes lit up. Suppressing her curiosity and nervousness, she asked: "So, does Your Majesty mean that you achieved the final victory?"

The pair of blue eyes stared intently at Kaido's face, fearing to miss a single word from him.

"Of course, do I need to lie to you?"

Kaido rubbed Erica's small face; it was soft, warm, and very elastic.

Erica didn't mind Kaido's casual gesture. For her, her mind and body were committed to him, so simply touching his face wasn't a concern.

"Your Majesty, could you inform us about the situation of the others? How are Marquis Voban and the Sword King? Have they all returned like you?"

Liliana suppressed the joy in her heart. The Demon King's victory over the three Magic Kings was, of course, the best outcome, but her human curiosity made her want to know the fate of the others even more.

What Liliana wanted to know even more was how Kaido had defeated Marquis Voban.

That old man, who had cast his shadow over all of Europe, was considered by many scholars and magicians to be equal in strength to the most formidable demon, Luo Hao, the Master of the Eastern Sect, and the two were ranked among the strongest God Slayers in the world.

The Goddess escaped earlier, and Doni should have already returned. As for Marquis Voban, he probably only has a small remnant of his soul left.

Kaido answered the two girls' questions with a smile.

"Soul remnant?"

"I broke his authority, destroyed his body, and turned him to ashes, and only a hint of his soul escaped to another world, so I didn't have time to kill him completely."

Kaido's voice softened slightly.

"But even if he resurrects in the future, he won't be able to cause any problems."

Upon hearing these words, Erica and Liliana exchanged glances, both seeing confusion and incredulity in each other's eyes.

This wasn't because they doubted Kaido's strength, but because Voban's power had been deeply ingrained in the hearts of European magicians, and their terror was etched in the bones of every European.

Moreover, the meaning of "only a soul remnant is left" wasn't much different from death.

Given Kaido's constant display of dominance, if Voban was defeated and fled, Erica and Liliana could accept it. But for that terrifying Demon King to be defeated to the point where his soul ascended to heaven seemed a bit implausible.

"Are you doubting my abilities?"

Kaido narrowed his eyes.

"Don't dare."

Upon seeing Kaido's displeasure, Liliana immediately knelt down in fear.

"Get up."

Kaido wasn't angry, because he clearly understood the girls' thoughts.

Voban is simply powerful, but he's far from invincible. The Demon King's War isn't a fantasy game; if someone dies, they die. So, when someone faces me, I take it for granted that they've prepared for death.

He could show some tenderness and kindness to innocent civilians, but towards enemies who wanted to kill and torment him, Kaido wouldn't hold back, no matter who they were.

This time it was due to Voban's immortality; next time, he might not be so lucky.

"..."

His usual calmness had disappeared, and there was no trace of joking. As he spoke these words, a chill ran down the girls' spines, and their dark eyes even made Erica tremble.

In fact, he was speaking seriously.

"It's okay, don't put on such a tense face; it's not pretty."

The tense and oppressive atmosphere dissipated immediately. As the anxiety faded from the girls' hearts, they suddenly felt a huge hand embracing their backs from behind, and their vision expanded by more than ten centimeters.

Kaido held Erica and Liliana in his arms; the girls' bodies were astonishingly soft.

The black-haired youth laughed between his teeth, returning to his usual state.

"Don't mind spending the night with me, do you?"

Without waiting for their consent, Kaido enthusiastically hugged these two fragrant and soft Knights and ran to the bathroom.

What happened afterwards, of course, doesn't need to be said.

The news of Marquis Voban's disappearance spread like wildfire.

In just half a day, almost half of the occult world knew the outcome of last night's battle.

Kaido returned safely to Italy. According to Andre's testimony, the Sword King's secretary, Doni apparently didn't participate in this battle.

And Voban wasn't the kind of person who would simply disappear.

Therefore, many people speculated whether that Eastern European Demon King had died in the battle with the new king.

However, this matter wasn't rumored until definitive proof was obtained, and great moderation was maintained.

But if the news of Voban's defeat was true, then the shadow that had previously shrouded Europe would not only disappear, but the organizations associated with Voban would also suffer a violent upheaval.

Of course, all this happened after Kaido, Erica, and Liliana shared their bath in the bathroom.

"Your Majesty... what... what are you going to do?"
