Alpha Theodore Bellucci - POV
Knock knock.
"Come in," I called when my office door opened as Alex walked in. He was wearing a white T-shirt, which was stained red and the stench of blood was prominent as he came to a stop in front of my desk. I looked up when I saw a large wound on his cheek while his hair was covered in dried leaves and mud.
"We can't continue this way, Theo," he said when I placed my pen on the desk and gave him my attention.
"What happened this time?" I asked him.
"Well, two rogues came in undetected, and they attacked our school grounds. No casualties from our end, but we can't be guarding this entire pack day in and day out, Theo. The warriors are exhausted, and the pack members are petrified. The rogue attacks are becoming even more frequent. If this continues, people might start to leave."
"I am working day and night to find a solution for this, Alex. Don't think I am trying?" I asked him, sounding irritated.
"I am not saying you aren't trying. But I think we should just ask for a witch. It would make our life easier if there were a witch in this pack again." he said when I slammed my hand on the desk, making a crack appear in the center.
"Do you think I am not trying? I have asked the council of magic for the fifth time, but every time, their answer is the same. No one is willing to work for us." I asserted when I saw something flicker in his eyes.
"You know we can't go on like this. Why don't we find a rogue witch to help us in this case?" Alex suggested when I shook my head. Rogue witches are very similar to rogue werewolves, they would only cause trouble.
"Give it a few days, and if we still don't get a proper response from them, then we will look for a rogue witch, all right?" I asked him when he nodded his head. Alex was about to leave when he stopped and turned around to face me.
"She called." he asserted.
"I am not going to see her again, Alex. Now get out." I told him in a firm tone.
Cassandra Ricci - POV
I was applying some finishing touches to my makeup when I heard a car honking outside. I quickly grabbed my bag and stuffed my phone inside before I ran downstairs. As I opened the front door, I saw Abigail waiting for me in the car.
After locking the door, I walked to her car and took a seat when she pulled out of the driveway. It was a thirty-minute drive to the council building, and as we got closer, my eyes widened in awe at the beautiful structure in front of me.
It was a seven-storey glass building surrounded by lush green forest when Abigail parked her vehicle at the entrance. "You can head inside, I will park the car and come and meet you," she said when I nodded my head and got out of the car.
As I walked inside, I saw a lot of witches and wizards in the building as I made my way to the reception. "Hello, how can I help you today, ma'am?" the receptionist asked me.
"I am Cassandra Ricci, I am here for a meeting with the elders," I told her.
"Give me a minute, ma'am," she told me when she began typing something on her computer.
"Yes, you have a meeting on the fifth floor, room number two."
"Thank you," I told her when I took the visitor's card from her and made my way to the elevator.
"Did you get your pass?" Abigail asked me as she came to stand beside me when I showed her my card. "Good, let's go then," she said as we got into the elevator.
As I walked into the fifth floor, I realized that there was nothing in here except for closed doors on either side of the hallway with waiting chairs that were placed near the elevator. "I will not be able to accompany you inside. But best of luck, all right?" she asked me when I nodded my head and walked down the hallway to my right.
I came to a stop in front of room number two and lightly knocked on the door when I heard a faint voice call come in. As I opened the door, I saw a large wooden table in the center with two elders seated behind it. "Please come in, Miss. Ricci." Mr. Dimitri said when I nodded my head and stepped inside as the door closed.
"Were you still practicing your spells after moving out of this town?" Mr. Dimitri asked me as he took a look at my file.
"Yes, Mr. Dimitri."
"Why did you want to pursue your career as a witch now, Miss. Ricci?" Mr. Conti asked me. I wanted to tell him that I never wanted to come back here, but then, my mother's face appeared in my mind.
"I heard that the werewolves are facing a lot of issues with the rogues, and we are also short of witches to send, so I decided to join the workforce again." It sounded like a believable lie, and it looks like they bought it as well.
"You are right. Many packs have been contacting us about this. Anyway, do you have any particular pack in mind that you want?" Mr. Conti asked me.
"It would be great if I could work for the White Blood pack, Mr. Conti," I replied when I saw the surprised look on their faces.
"Are you aware of their reputation, Miss. Ricci? Two witches that we sent there returned a few months later in body bags, and even though they say that they died due to natural causes, we feel like there is more."
"I am aware of them all, Mr. Conti. But a pack as large and powerful as the white blood pack, shouldn't be left unprotected. I trust my abilities, and I know I can protect them all."
