After arriving at the Capital, they were welcomed not with cheers but with assassins.
"Duke, a letter from the palace has arrived," Keith, one of his loyal men, handed him
the sealed envelope, his eyes scanning the alley warily as if danger still lingered.
The Duke broke the seal and unfolded the letter. His eyes narrowed as he read.
DearBrother,
Count Arnold was the one who hired that mercenary group to intercept the
rebels. But somehow, the maps were replaced with yours and instead, the rebels
arrived at Lunathia with the weapons.
I'm just glad you're back in the Capital safely. The Midnight Ball is fast approaching.
I'll make sure to introduce you to many noble ladies. I know you like pretty women.
Oh, and our third brother will be arriving as well. He says he plans to introduce you
to Prince Karin of Lunathia. I can't wait to see you both.
From your handsome eldest brother Carl Vane Seravelle.
"Prince Karin Lunathia…" he murmured, frowning slightly. "That name sounds familiar. The Lunathian royal family has too many princes to remember."
Keith smirked playfully. "He's known as the Omega Prince. Word is, he's a real beauty."
The Duke raised a brow. "Omega? You mean the kind of man who can bear children like a
woman?" His voice was a mix of disbelief and intrigue. He had heard of such
people in passing, rare and was truly a beauty.
He looked out the window, watching the sun dip behind the towering spires of the Capital.
"I've never seen one," he admitted softly, more to himself than anyone.
"What should we do about the captives?" Keith asked, his voice low and uncertain.
"I asked Rolen to investigate that mercenary," the Duke replied, eyes narrowing. "If they're truly innocent, release them. But leave the one with green eyes… He'll be our leverage."
Keith's brows furrowed, a flicker of doubt crossing his face. "Green eyes? That's
uncommon. Most people with distinct eye colors… they usually have royal blood,"
he said, voice laced with curiosity and concern.
The Duke gave a slight nod, his tone turning somber. "Yes… and as far as I know, green
eyes are extremely rare. It's a mark of the old Empire, a bloodline long thought lost."
Keith's heart skipped a beat. He glanced toward the cells, unease creeping into his
chest. "Then this boy… he might be more dangerous than we thought."
The Duke's gaze hardened. "Exactly. That's why we must keep him close."
