Chapter 2 - preparing for the entrance test (1)

Of course! Here's a corrected version of your story, with grammar, punctuation, and cla

I pinched myself over and over again, but I still wasn't waking up. I fell into inevitable despair, thinking to myself:

"I never thought going inside a game would be this scary."

Some people might think I'm overreacting, but I'm really not.

Just think about it like this — you've been trying to survive for over two decades, and somehow all of that has become a waste because you ended up in another "world."

All my friends and family are probably gone too. Why did I think like that?

"LOOK AT THIS PLACE, DAMN IT!!!"

Mossy walls and floors, cracks on the walls and even the window. There's only one window and a ventilation system.

And look at that wardrobe — it looks like it would crumble down if I touched it even a little.

Those skyscrapers I can see from the window are probably 50 kilometers away from here.

"Well, at least this guy has a wallet. I hope there's some money in it."

When I pulled out the wallet, I accidentally pulled a green-colored ID card from my pocket too.

I picked up the ID card and looked at it. There was a photo of a boy with black hair covering half of his face.

And below the photo, there was the boy's ID:

Special Admission Student

Name: Kylen Noor

Age: 16

"Special Admission Student? And this guy has my name too!"

(Well, that guy is technically myself… but that doesn't matter anyway.)

Special Admission Student — or SAS for short — is a program created by the world's largest Heroes Academy, [Atlas]. The program was made specifically for people with potential, but no money. (Basically poor people.)

"Not only was I forced to enter this world, but I also got admitted as an SAS? F*ck my life."

I placed the ID on the small coffee table near the freezer, opened the wardrobe, grabbed a jacket, and left the house.

"If I have to survive until the end of the game's storyline, I at least need to get my guide first."

The storyline of this game depends on who the main character is. If I don't know who it is, I might accidentally prepare for the wrong boss fight.

(FYI: Kylen sometimes got bored just playing with his test character, so he cleared the other characters' stories to cure his boredom.)

"What I need most is a guide. I don't care about anything else."

Kylen's guide is a very special one. While other players get their guides through the storyline, he gets his through dedication.

Kylen arrived at the subway station. If he wanted to get his guide, he needed to go to a very famous mountain:

Mount Fuji.

Somewhere in the Atlas Academy, a group of people gathered inside a dark, hidden room deep within the school.

A man in a full black outfit approached an old man. He gave a salute before delivering his message.

The old man looked like the typical mage from a children's book. He wore a tall, pointed mage hat, a black robe, and carried a wooden staff.

"Everyone has arrived, sir!"

"Good."

The old man stood up from his throne and raised his staff high in the air. He chanted in an unknown language that filled the room with purple fog.

"Greetings to everyone who has arrived. I applaud you all."

The people in the room clapped continuously until the old man signaled them to stop.

"Silence!!! Today we've received an order from our great ruler, The Purple Jester. He has commanded us to sabotage the upcoming test for the students of Atlas!"

He pushed a suitcase to the middle of the round table. It opened by itself, releasing a greenish-purple fog.

Inside was a metal syringe.

The old man picked up the syringe and examined it.

"This is the X Serum. With one drop, a Wretch-rank monster can turn into a Mauler-rank."

One of the people raised his hand to ask a question.

"What if it's injected into a human?"

The old man stroked his long beard, considering whether to tell a low-ranking subordinate such sensitive information.

"You can use it on someone if you want to know. Our mission is to inject every monster the principal has captured. With that, I close this gathering!"

Back to Kylen

Mount Fuji.

"To think that I finally get to visit Mount Fuji at such a cheap price is insane."

The webnovel Atlas Online is based on is a Korean webnovel, so the story's setting is in Korea.

In this world, Korea was never split in two, and it has no grudges against Japan. This world is truly at peace.

"Oh yeah, I need to take a photo real quick."

I searched through my pockets, trying to find my phone, but I found nothing.

"I left my phone! ... Eh, probably nothing important in there anyway. I came here for one reason only — to get the [The Sky's Only Child] item."
