Chapter 1 - Death

"Kill yourself."

Kyle stared blankly at the ground, his expression a mystery.

The man who spoke pressed the nuzzle of the gun on his forehead, he crouched and looked Kyle dead in the eye.

"Kill yourself, or I'll kill you.... choose."

He said.

The man's voice held no emotion, that too and his eyes were dead. They were those of a man who had lost all hope.

"I don't know."

He slowly pulled the trigger.

"This.... this is why no one likes you."

—Bang!

A young man jolted awake. His body was soaking wet.

'It wasn't real.'

Cold sweat.

He wiped it off himself.

'It was just a dream.'

He got out of the bed.

"It was just— kreug."

He coughed out blood mid-sentence. The liquid staining the bedsheets.

"...."

"Screw it's just a dream."

He murmured as he got out of the bed.

He took some money from under the bed and went out.

"My kidney.... it was just a measly one million, and my right nut was barely anything."

He murmured.

He wasn't the average person.

For starters, his father owed seven million, unfortunately he had died before he even paying one penny. It wasn't even to a bank, no, he borrowed it from loan sharks.

The debt naturally fell onto his family.

And since he was the only surviving member of the debt, he was the one who had to pay.

He had a sister once, though the loan sharks took her after his father died. They told him that once he paid everything in full, she would be returned to him.

Otherwise, they would be diced up and sold for everything they were worth.

But.... Kyle doubted if she was even alive. He could never trust the loan sharks.

"And that nightmare.... it keeps on coming back."

His future was bleak.

Kyle doubted if he would even live for twenty more years. Hell, he doubted if he would be able to pay the money he owned.

"That bastard.... he's making me pay for the money he owes and still tries to kill me."

The very man in the nightmare was his father, holding a fully loaded glock at his head....

Kyle let out a sigh.

As someone who worked hard to pay his debt, he barely had time for anything outside of work.

—Ding!

But, he still made time to check for a certain novel.

A webnovel.

'A new chapter.'

He thought, bringing out his phone.

He opened the app and went for it.

"It certainly costs a little too much this time."

50 coins....

He spent a little money to make sure he was up to date with the novel updates.

So he thought twice before eventually going for it.

The contents of the chapter did not show.

"....What the fuck?!"

He cursed, staring at the screen hard.

He tried reloading the page.

"...."

He found it hard to believe that he spent that much for a blank space.

Kyle tried going to the first chapter.

It was blank too.

The second to fifth was the same.

He tried all the way to the twentieth one, reloading the page each time just to make sure—

Suddenly, Kyle jumped out of the way, his body led by pure instincts.

He fell onto the ground, just a little distance from where the truck was.

His heart pounded in his chest as he watched the truck drive away, standing up slowly.

"....What the fuck?"

He wasn't even sure of what had happened.

There were no lights. Not even the sound of the engine. The worst part was that he was on the sidewalk when this happened.

Kyle's eyes darted to his last spot.

His phone.

He walked over to it and picked it up.

Thankfully, it wasn't crushed, the truck hadn't run over it.

As Kyle crouched to pick up his phone....

Another truck slammed into him from the opposite direction.

Before he could even process the pain he was flung into the air.

In those brief seconds, he remembered his happiest moments in his life....

Or at least, the less crueler moments.

'This stupid truck.'

Those were his final thoughts before darkness came.
