Chapter 1 - PART 1- THE STING OF SILENCE

Richard Athmen had lived with his mother, Delia Athmen, for as long as he could remember.

There was no record of his father.

And every time Richard asked his mom about him, she always dodged the question.

Since childhood, Richard had been haunted by nightmares.

And even now, those nightmares never left him.

Every morning, he'd tell his mom about them.

And each time, she'd simply say,

"They're just nightmares, Richard. Try to forget them."

But her face... always had a shadow of fear whenever she said that.

As time passed, the same cycle continued.

Richard turned 10 years old — but his health wasn't great.

His constant sleep deprivation was starting to show.

Delia remained worried, especially about his growing irritability and behavior.

He felt his body changing in strange ways.

And then came the night that changed everything.

At age 12, one night, Richard had a nightmare more intense than ever before.

A figure — a devil surrounded by lightning — was calling out to him.

This creature had massive black wings, two horns protruding from its skull,

and its voice echoed like thunder in the dark.

Richard woke up drenched in sweat, terrified, his heart racing.

He rushed to his mom's room and knocked on the door.

Delia opened it and was shocked to see him in that state.

Richard told her everything — the nightmare, the devil, the wings, the horns.

But she once again replied with the same line:

"It was just a nightmare, sweetheart. Go back to sleep."

But Richard knew something wasn't right.

His mom no longer smiled the same.

She seemed distant… afraid.

That night, Richard didn't return to her room.

He didn't even sleep.

He just sat by the window and kept asking himself:

"Who… am I?"

"Why is my mom always scared?"

"Who is that man calling me?"

"Why won't she tell me the truth about my past?"

The next night — the same nightmare returned.

Night after night, the same devil kept calling him.

The same voice… the same storm…

like it was dragging him toward something.

One morning, unable to hold it in anymore, Richard asked his mother again.

"Why won't you ever tell me about my father?"

"Was he a bad person? Was he dangerous?"

"Why are you always so scared?"

"You say they're just nightmares… but you're scared too, aren't you?"

Delia hesitated.

She looked at him with tired eyes and said:

"Sweetheart… what are you saying?

You didn't sleep again last night, did you?"

But Richard stood his ground:

"No more lies, mom."

"Stop brushing it off. I want answers."

"I'm not that clueless little kid anymore."

"I deserve to know the truth."
