Chapter 9 – Inheritance
"I see... then we really owe Iruka-sensei a big thank you," Sinai said with a surprised look, followed by a warm smile.
Honestly, Natsuri's chakra reserves were way beyond what Sinai had ever expected. Especially her chakra extraction ability—it was insane. Sinai knew both she and Natsuri's father only had average chakra. She never imagined their child would be this gifted.
Sure, having two ninja parents meant Natsuri was born with a decent amount of chakra. But what really made the difference was that Natsuri had never slacked off. Over the years, she made sure her body was always properly nourished and trained.
"Oh right, you must've looked through the Three Basic Jutsu by now, right? What do you think? If there's anything that's unclear, I can show you how it's done. I'm not the best teacher, but I can at least demonstrate it for you." Sinai smiled proudly.
"I've already mastered all of them," Natsuri replied.
"Mmm-hmm... Huh?" Sinai nodded instinctively, then froze. Her eyes widened. She blinked. "Wait. What did you just say?"
"I've already got them down," Natsuri repeated calmly.
Sinai stared at her daughter in disbelief. She knew Natsuri wasn't the type to lie about something like this, but still… already mastered? On the first day?
Before Sinai could say anything else, Natsuri smiled and quickly performed a hand seal. With a small puff of white smoke, a transformation was triggered.
Now there were two Sinais standing in the room—one big, one small. Natsuri could've made the clone taller, to match her mom's exact height, but that would've taken more chakra. For a simple demo, there was no need to overdo it.
Sinai stared at the mini version of herself, stunned. Not only had Natsuri pulled off the Transformation Technique perfectly, but the details were eerily accurate. If you weren't paying attention, it would be hard to tell who was real.
After canceling the transformation, Natsuri didn't stop there. She smoothly performed the Clone Jutsu, followed by the Substitution Technique. Her hand seal speed had clearly improved—she could pull off the Clone in under two seconds, and the Substitution was just a bit slower.
To Sinai, it was unreal. She couldn't even perform those jutsu that fast herself.
And just like that, the truth hit her. Natsuri wasn't just "talented." She was the real deal—a born genius.
Of course, even genius couldn't guarantee safety in the ninja world. It was still a dangerous path. Sinai let out a soft sigh but didn't stop Natsuri from chasing her goal. Instead, she quietly walked into her room.
Natsuri watched her go, tilting her head curiously.
A few moments later, Sinai returned carrying a few scrolls. She handed them to Natsuri.
"What's all this?" Natsuri asked, surprised.
"These are jutsu I once traded for. All C-rank. Actually, the Kage Bunshin scroll I gave you earlier was originally something your dad planned to exchange for a B-rank Wind jutsu—Shinkūgyoku. But since he hadn't mastered the C-rank ones yet, he never went through with it," Sinai explained with a faint smile, her tone calm and matter-of-fact, like she had long accepted the past.
"I was planning to give them to you once you became a genin, but with how fast you're progressing, it'd be a waste to wait. Better you have them now."
Sinai looked straight at her daughter. "With your talent, I know you'll learn these quickly. Still, even though I know you're smart enough to figure things out, let me just say this: don't overdo it, okay? Know your limits."
"I understand." Natsuri nodded seriously and opened the scrolls. There were four jutsu in total. Just like her mom said, they were all C-rank:
Fūton: Reppūshō (Gale Palm)
Fūton: Kazekiri no Jutsu (Wind Cutter)
Fūton: Daitoppa (Great Breakthrough)
Raiton: Jibashi (Electromagnetic Murder)
Wind-style techniques. Her dad's specialty. The selection was actually well-balanced—Daitoppa for wide-area attacks, Kazekiri for pinpoint cutting, and Reppūshō for close combat. With these three, she really didn't need to look for any other C-rank Wind jutsu.
As for Raiton: Jibashi, that was probably from her mom. But Natsuri recalled that this one wasn't super practical. It worked better when used with a Water jutsu to enhance conductivity—otherwise, the damage wasn't all that great, especially on dry land.
Still, she wasn't planning to learn them just yet. Sure, her chakra pool was large enough to use them, but not repeatedly. These kinds of jutsu consumed too much chakra to be worth spamming during practice.
Instead, she'd focus on mastering low-cost techniques like the Substitution Jutsu. Or maybe start practicing Kage Bunshin no Jutsu. It was B-rank, yeah, but the chakra usage was manageable since it just split her chakra between the user and the clones. If she didn't have the clones perform jutsu, even a small portion of chakra could keep them around for a while.
"Well then, Mama, I'm heading out," Natsuri said after storing the scrolls away.
"Alright. Don't forget to thank Iruka-sensei properly, okay? And hey, if you get the chance, invite him to the yakiniku restaurant where Mama works. I'll give you both the freshest ingredients," Sinai said with a wink.
"I'd love to, but I don't think Iruka-sensei's the type who'd go," Natsuri replied.
"Such a good teacher," Sinai smiled softly. "You're lucky to have him."

In front of Ichiraku Ramen, Natsuri arrived earlier than expected. Iruka wasn't there yet.
The place was packed, and Natsuri couldn't help but admire how good the shop's business was. Not surprising, though—the ramen was delicious, the price was fair, and the owner, Teuchi, looked a lot younger than the version she remembered from the anime.
"Natsuri-kun, you're early!" Iruka greeted her as he walked up. He thought he was early, but apparently not early enough.
"Well, I'm the one treating you, Sensei. Of course I should be here first," Natsuri replied with a grin.
"You know, it's totally fine to show up a little late," Iruka said, scratching his head. Once again, he was reminded how mature this girl was.
"Iruka-sensei, let's go in." Natsuri skipped the small talk and headed inside.
"Alright." Iruka followed, still feeling like he was talking to someone way older than a kid.
"Uncle Teuchi! Two of your most luxurious bowls of ramen, please!" Natsuri called out cheerfully.
"Whoa, going all out today, huh? What's the occasion, Natsuri-kun?" Teuchi asked, a little surprised. She usually didn't order the most expensive stuff, but she also didn't go for the cheap stuff either. Natsuri believed that proper nutrition—meat, eggs, milk—was important if she wanted to grow strong.
"Today's full of surprises," she said seriously. From the Three Basic Jutsu to Kage Bunshin and her inheritance—it had been a day of blessings.
"You really don't have to go this far," Iruka said, slightly awkward.
"Iruka-sensei, just call me Natsuri. And honestly, I don't think this is extravagant enough. Unless, of course, you agree to come with me to the yakiniku restaurant next time. You know my mom works there—we can get a discount," she offered sincerely.
"Haha… well, maybe some other time." Iruka scratched the back of his head again, still dodging the invitation.
Natsuri gave him a quick glance but didn't press the issue. She just quietly waited for their ramen.
While they waited, Iruka kept glancing at her, looking like he was debating something. After a while, Natsuri caught on.
"If you have something to ask, Iruka-sensei, just ask. If I know the answer, I'll tell you," she said calmly, not even looking up.
"That obvious, huh?" Iruka chuckled awkwardly, then took a deep breath. His expression turned serious. "Natsuri, I want to ask you something. What do you think about Uzumaki Naruto?"
