Chapter 4 - CHAPTER FOUR

Long after Cassian left, Savannah lay in bed staring at the ceiling as the city lights danced through her curtains.Sge couldn't stop thinking about the sudden shift in his mood and the way he left.

What the fuck was that about?

She thought, turning onto her side, trying to fall asleep. But the questions kept swirling in her mind. Was it work or emergency?

Despite her curiosity, she couldn't help but look foward to whatever he had in mind to "make it up to her".

The next morning, Savannah groaned softly, stretching beneath the sheets before glancing at the clock.

8:30am

Not bad, she thought, rolling out of bed. Her feet sank into the plush rug as she made her way to the bathroom. The shower was hot and soothing, stream filling the space as she lathered herself with her favorite Vanilla body wash.

After drying off, she went through her skincare routine, massaging each product into her skin with care.

"Glow like a queen girl!" She murmured at her reflection with a smirk.

Before she went downstairs, she sat cross-legged by the large window, Bible open on her lap. She meditated on a few verses, finding some peace in the quiet morning before the chaos of the day.

In the kitchen, she tied her hair up messily and surveyed her options. "Let's not get fancy."

She grabbed some eggs, tomato and bread, humming to herself as she whisked the eggs with a dash of pepper and salt, chopping the tomato roughly. She tossed it in the pan with a little bit of olive oil, letting it scramble together.

"Gourmet as fuck." She said, laughing to herself.

A few minutes later, she sat at the counter, eating the simple dish. As she chewed, she flicked on the TV, flipping through channels aimlessly.

"There's nothing good on TV anymore." She said, settling on some reality show she wasn't paying attention to.

Eventually, she pushed the plate aside and grabbed her phone as she scrolled on Instagram. Then a profile suggestion caught her eye.

Cassian V.

Her heart skipped

It was his personal account. No business branding, no company taglines, just him.

Without thinking twice, she hit follow. She smiled to herself, feeling that little rush of adrenaline, but when she glanced back at the screen, it said pending request.

Private? Her brows drew together.

Why the fuck would Cassian Virelli, king of tech and nightclubs keep his account private?

"What are you hiding Mr Virelli?" She questioned as she stared at her phone for a second, debating, then she shrugged.

"Whatever, not my business....yet.." She said out loud, trying to shake the feeling gnawing at her gut.

She kept scrolling through endless reels until her eyes felt heavy. Yawning, she cleaned her plate and set it in the dishwasher before collapsing on the couch for a nap.

The sun had begun to set by the time she woke. Groggy, she grabbed her phone and saw it:

A missed call from Cassian

"Shit" She said, heart leaping.

It had been thirty minutes ago.

She wasted no time calling him back.

"Hey" his voice came through, warmly.

"Hey! I'm sorry I missed your call. I passed out on the couch." She said, voice still thick from sleep.

"No worries sweetheart." Cassian said, that little hint of amusement in his tone.

"I was just calling to let you know I've booked something for us tonight. To make it up for disappearing on you like a dick yesterday."

Savannah blinked, surprised.

"Wait, you actually did?"

He chuckled. "You sound shocked."

"I kind of am." she admitted. "I thought you'd say it and forget."

"Well, I didn't. I'll pick you up at Seven. it's a surprise, so no hints. But trust me, you'll love it. And I want to be the one to come get you."

Her heart fluttered

"Okay now I'm really curious."

"Good. Get ready for a night you won't forget."

"Bye, Cassian"

"Bye, Savannah"

Savannah practically danced to her closet, excitement buzzing through her veins. She wanted to look unforgettable.

She chose a black satin slip dress with a thigh high skit that hugged her curves perfectly. The neckline dipped just enough to be dangerous without looking desperate. She styled her hair in loose waves, brushing past her shoulders with that effortless "I woke up like this" vibes, except it look forty-five minutes to perfect.

"Let's see if you can handle this, Mr Virelli."

At exactly Seven, Cassian arrived.

Savannah's breath caught when she opened the door. He was dressed in black slacks and a crisp white shirt. Sleeves rolled up, revealing his strong forearms. His dark hair was perfect, his smile soft as he took her in.

"Wow." He said, eyes raking over her. "You look fucking incredible."

She flushed, pleased. "Not bad yourself."

He stepped foward, wrapping her in a warm hug, his scent filling her senses. He kissed her cheek softly.

"I'm really sorry about last night." He said quietly.

She searched his face. "Is everything okay?"

His gaze flickered, but he nodded. "it is. It's all good. Ready for your surprise?"

"No." She said laughing. "But let's go!"

Cassian took her in his private Jeep SUV through the city until they pulled up at a sleek helipad.

Savannah's eyes widened. "Cassian?"

He grinned, looking almost boyish. "You're not afraid of heights, are you? "

"Just a little." She admitted, heart thudding. "Why?"

He pointed out the window. A private helicopter gleamed under the lights, the city skyline glittering behind it.

"Oh wow!"

Cassian chuckled.

"You up for it?"

"Hell Yes!"

They exited the Jeep and were immediately greeted by a smiling attendant.

"Mr Virelli, Ms Quinn. Welcome to Skyluxe Tours. Your pilot tonight is Jason. Champagne?"

Glasses of chilled champagne were handed to them as they were led to the helicopter.

Jason, a friendly man in his thirties smiled.

"Evening folks. Just a few instructions. Please buckle in once seated. Headsets are required for communication. No opening doors during the flight, obviously. I'll point out landmarks as we go. We'll be cruising at 1500 feet. Any questions?"

"Nope." Cassian said, squeezing Savannah's hand

"Let's do this."

The city was magic from above. Savannah pressed close to the window, breathless.

"It's so beautiful."

Cassian watched her, not the view. "Yeah it is."

She laughed softly, turning to him. He leaned in, brushing his lips over hers. The kiss started gentle and sweet. But then, his hand slid to her jaw, deepening it. His tongue teased hers, the warmth of him, the taste of champagne, everything blending together until she started feeling dizzy in the best way.

When they finally pulled apart, she couldn't help the grin on her face.

"Damn." She whispered. "If this is how you make up for disappearing, maybe I should get mad at you more often."

Cassian laughed.

"Careful what you wish for."

They spent the rest of the night pointing out landmarks, sipping champagne and stealing glanced at each other. When they landed, Cassian helped her out of the helicopter, his hand lingering at her waist.

"That was insane!" She said breathless. "I still can't believe you did that."

"Worth it?" He asked.

She looked at him, heart full. "So fucking worth it."

Cassian smiled, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "Good."

There were still questions she wanted to ask him, but not tonight. Tonight was perfect.

And tomorrow? she'd get her answers.... hopefully.
