The evening settled softly over the Kairos penthouse. The city lights twinkled like distant stars, but inside, the warmth between three hearts burned brighter than any skyline.
Darren sat at the large dining table, a notebook open before him, filled with numbers and plans. Aria lounged nearby, scrolling through her phone but glancing up every few minutes.
"So, Mom's birthday is next week," Aria said quietly, breaking the comfortable silence.
Darren looked up, a small smile touching his lips.
"Yeah. Hard to believe it's already almost here."
Aria's eyes softened. "She deserves the best. After everything."
"She's the reason we're even here," Darren said firmly. "No matter what, we owe her the world."
They shared a look that spoke volumes — the struggles, sacrifices, and endless nights their mother endured.
The Plans
Aria tilted her head. "What are you thinking for the celebration?"
Darren flipped his notebook closed and leaned back.
"Something big. Not just a party.
A statement.
Something to show her — and the world — that we're here to stay."
Aria's smile grew wider.
"I've been looking at some places. Luxury venues, a few exclusive spots downtown. We can invite friends, business contacts… even some people from her past."
Darren chuckled.
"She might kill us for that."
"Maybe," Aria grinned, "but it'll be worth it."
The Surprises
"I've already arranged a few things," Darren added quietly.
Aria's eyes sparkled with curiosity.
"Like what?"
Darren glanced out the window, his mind racing with ideas — the cars, the jewelry, the exclusive gifts.
"You'll see. But I want her to feel how much we've grown… how much we appreciate her."
Aria nodded. "Mom's going to love it."
The Moment
The two siblings sat together, the weight of their plans mingling with the simple joy of shared purpose.
Aria nudged Darren gently.
"You think she knows how much you've changed?"
He shrugged.
"She knows I'm trying.
For her. For us."
"That's all that matters."
