Chapter 10 - An Invitation from Sona Sitri!

Chapter 10: An Invitation from Sona Sitri!

"Hello, my name is Shin Akira."

Akira offered a gentle smile as he introduced himself to Hanakai Momo, who stood nervously in front of him.

A faint blush appeared on Momo's cheeks, making Akira feel slightly helpless.

Back in his original world, he'd once acted like this too—cautiously trying to get closer to the "goddess" he admired from afar. But unlike the romantic stories in novels, things didn't exactly blossom into sweet love and dramatic confessions.

There were no heart-pounding developments or fairy tale moments—just an ordinary introduction and the occasional polite nod when they passed each other in the hall.

The fifteen-minute break between classes quickly flew by. When the bell rang again, Momo returned to her seat.

And just like that, Akira's first day at Kuoh Academy quietly continued.

It had been years since he last sat behind a school desk, and though the experience felt unfamiliar, it wasn't bad.

But things were different now. He wasn't just an ordinary high school student. In fact, he wasn't even here to build a future.

This school was merely a stepping stone—a convenient environment to blend in as he adapted to this world.

Ding-ding~

The chime signaling the end of the school day echoed through the halls. Sounds of students packing up their belongings filled the classroom.

Of course, most of them weren't going straight home—they were heading to their club activities. It was only a little past 3:00 PM. At Kuoh Academy, the usual routine was to stay until around six before heading out.

Akira began putting away his things. He had no interest in joining any clubs. He had no desire to get involved in student life, make lasting memories, or chase after high school dreams.

This was just part of the mission.

Just as he was about to leave, Hanakai Momo approached him once more.

"Shin-san, um... do you have a moment?"

Her voice carried hesitation, but her eyes were serious.

"Yes, Hanakai-san? What is it?" (Akira)

"Um, our student council president... she'd like to speak with you." (Momo)

"The president? You mean Souna-kaichou?" (Akira)

"Eh? So you already know our Kaichou?" (Momo)

"We met briefly this morning." (Akira)

"Ah, that's perfect! So... would you be willing to come with me for a bit?" (Momo)

"Sure. Lead the way." (Akira)

"Thank you so much~!"

Her face brightened with relief.

Honestly, asking someone you just met to visit the Student Council President wasn't exactly easy—especially not in Japan, where social distance and politeness were deeply ingrained.

The cultural mindset of "if it's not my business, I don't get involved" was alive and well.

That's why conversations here were so carefully measured. Everyone wore a polite mask, staying within their own boundaries. It was the price of surviving in a conformist society.

Momo guided him through the halls toward the Student Council office.

Inside, it was quiet—but filled with a focused, professional atmosphere. The few students present all looked serious and disciplined.

"Kaichou, I've brought Shin Akira-san."

The innermost room was the president's office.

Souna Shitori sat at a desk, writing something with practiced grace. Standing beside her was Tsubaki Shinra, holding a stack of neatly organized documents.

"Thank you. Sorry to trouble you~"

Hearing Momo's voice, Sona paused her writing and looked up.

Her eyes met Akira's calmly.

Tsubaki reflexively adjusted her glasses and gave him a sharp, assessing glance.

They'd already seen Akira's encounter with Rias and her peerage earlier that morning. As Rias's childhood friend, Tsubaki understood her well. If Rias personally approached a transfer student, there was no way it was without purpose.

"We meet again, Shin-san."

Sona smiled softly, setting down her pen as she addressed the green-haired young man now standing before her.

Even in the anime world where vibrant hair colors were normal, green was still relatively rare.

"Sona-kaichou… pardon me, but may I ask why you called me here?" (Akira)

"Oh, nothing too serious. I just wanted to hear your thoughts about your first day." (Sona)

"It's gone smoothly so far. Thank you for asking, Sona-kaichou." (Akira)

"I'm glad to hear that. You see, I received word from my family that a transfer student from China would be enrolling here. They specifically requested that I keep an eye on you." (Sona)

"Thank you."

Momo blinked in surprise. Her family?

That meant… the Sitri Clan—one of the Great Houses of the Underworld.

So this handsome transfer student… had ties to the supernatural world!?

Akira had already suspected as much.

After his encounter with Rias that morning, he was sure that Sona—the heiress of the Sitri family—would have sensed something unusual about him.

He let out a long breath.

It's only the first day, and I'm already in this deep.

What bothered him most was the fact that his current strength barely matched a low-class devil. Facing not just one, but two heiresses from noble devil families—Rias Gremory and Sona Sitri—was nothing short of intimidating.

High-class devils were on another level entirely.

Akira believed he'd surpass them eventually. But right now... he had to play it smart.

"Oh, and I wanted to confirm something directly," Sona continued. "Rias mentioned that you saved Koneko-chan from danger earlier. Is that true?" (Sona)

"Yes, something like that happened." (Akira)

"As I thought. So Shin-san isn't weak at all, is he?" (Sona)

"Just strong enough to protect myself." (Akira)

Sona gave him a faint smile.

She knew Koneko well. As one of Rias's peerage, Koneko might look petite, but her strength couldn't be underestimated. Among low-class devils, she was easily one of the top-tier fighters.

A mere Stray Devil shouldn't have been able to pin her down.

And yet Akira had managed to save her.

That meant his power had already exceeded the typical standard.

Though Sona herself was a high-class devil, she had never underestimated the potential of low-class devils. After all, aside from Tsubaki, most of her peerage members were also low-class devils still in training.

They were still growing.

But Akira, someone their age, already possessed this level of strength—it was impressive.

"My family wouldn't ask me to watch over just anyone. I assume you already know who I am… and who Rias is, yes?" (Sona)

"I know a little." (Akira)

"Then that makes things easier."

Sona looked directly at him, her eyes sharp but not unfriendly.

"How about it? Would you be interested… in becoming part of my peerage?" (Sona)

A formal invitation.

Straight from the heiress of the Sitri family.
