Chapter 1 - Alan Wayne

In a dimly lit kitchen with no windows and just one door, the only source of lighting in the kitchen came from the other side of the door. The figure of a youth walked in through the door, holding something that looked like it had a short antenna close to his mouth.

"Hello, my name's Alan Wayne, it's the year 2140, November erm… forget it, the date isn't really important. It's been twelve years since the invasion of a foreign race. Ironic, right? Just when humanity was at its peak, technology and science were at an all-time high, it all changed. Were they aliens? A product of science? We don't know, all we know is that the world as we know it has changed since the arrival of the foreign species."

"Over ninety percent of the world's population were killed by the invaders, but humanity did not give in to despair. Yes, these things are faster and stronger than we are, but since their arrival, the world started to see a change and certain humans showed signs of containing a special kind of energy referred to as chaos energy. With this energy, these special people are able to display abilities that were deemed impossible for humans to possess."

"Although this has helped in our fight against these invaders, it is still not enough. We are slowly dwindling, and after twelve years of constant battle, we're left with about eight percent of the original population. Least I forget, humanity was around twenty billion in population at the time of the invasion."

"Some people call it the apocalypse, some call it the downfall of man. As for me? I just want to grow old and die. That's all for today folks, tomorrow we'll get back to our lessons, I'll be teaching you about chaos energy."

The recorder in the hands of young Alan Wayne was kept back in his bag. He was currently standing in front of a gas cooker, looking around with curiosity.

"You're doing this shit again?" The figure of another person walked through the door and the voice of a young man filled with a hint of disgust walked in just as Alan finished his recording.

"It's a radio broadcast, people used to do it all the time." Alan refuted.

"Yes, when there were actually people who listened." The young man continued approaching Alan as he added, "Since you found this recorder, I feel like you've been going nuts."

Retreating, Alan placed his hands in front of him, "I'm warning you Ezekiel, don't come close."

Ezekiel had a larger and more well-built physique, and Alan knew he was no match for him.

"Hehe, come on, let me play with it for a bit too." Chuckling playfully, Ezekiel tried to snatch the bag on Alan's back.

While the duo were struggling over the bag in the kitchen, another figure walked in.

"Ezekiel, Alan, this isn't the time to play. Gather whatever you find and return to the truck quickly, we are leaving in ten minutes." The voice of the new figure was deep, indicating he was not as young as Alan or Ezekiel.

The kitchen was still dimly lit, making it impossible to see the faces of the youths or the just arrived man. This, however, did not hide the fact that the newly arrived man was missing an arm.

"Yes sir."

Both youths who were fighting a few seconds ago, started to search the kitchen for anything good. It is unknown how long this place has been abandoned, and even the walls felt like all they needed was a tap for them to crumble to the ground. They found nothing after searching for five minutes.

"Come on, let's get back to the truck." Ezekiel said while leaving the apartment.

Alan nodded before following behind.

Coming out of the apartment, Alan's figure came into full view. He was five foot nine inches, with a slim but athletic build, he had short blonde hair and blue eyes, a well-chiseled face with full cheeks. He was wearing a black trousers and a blue short-sleeved round neck shirt.

Ezekiel, on the other hand, is already sprouting beards, he is also taller than Alan, standing at six foot one inch tall, with black hair with brown eyes.

"Nothing?" The one armed man asked.

The duo shook their heads, which were hanging low.

"It's okay, I knew these places wouldn't have much anyway. Only God knows how many times it has been ransacked." The one armed man patted the duo on their back before jumping into the back of the pick up truck that was packed in the middle of the abandoned street.

The duo did the same.

Three more youths walked out of a different abandoned building, two young ladies and a young man, all around the ages of fifteen to twenty-five.

Just like Alan and Ezekiel, their search was also in vain.

The one armed man tapped the top of the vehicle, and the driver inside got it started.

The tires of the truck screeched on the road before moving off.

Alan sighed as he looked at the empty buildings as they moved past them, "To think this used to be a good road with people living in all these abandoned houses."

Some of the houses they were passing through were completely destroyed. Some had claw marks, while a few were still intact.

The car drove for hours, leaving the good road and heading into the forest.

After three hours of driving, they stopped in front of what seemed like an empty field.

Everyone came down from the car, except for the driver who drove it further down before it disappeared into a tree by the side.

"This never gets old." Alan said in admiration as he stared at the place the car disappeared into.

"Come on, we better get going. There have been reports of Siliks sightings in this area lately." The one armed man walked forward before bending down.

He used his hand to move the dirt on the floor, and the opening to an underground bunker was revealed. After opening it, he ordered the youngsters to go in while he waited for the driver. The driver came quickly and they disappeared into the underground bunker.

Since the start of the apocalypse, humans started to live in different settlements, gathering together to try and fight back against the world's invaders. Over the years, some settlements have perished, while others have been able to thrive thanks to a special people who managed to gain the power given to them by the chaos energy.

Not everyone can wield this power, although all humans have been in contact with chaos energy since it's in the very air they breathe, only a few manage to actually awaken its power, evolving. They are blessed with the ability to use one of the four elements, wind, water, fire and earth. Humans have also been able to create weapons formed by this strange energy. It, alongside the special group of people that have awakened their ability to harness chaos energy, were humanity's last hope.

All in all, the fight against the so-called invaders is growing stronger everyday, with new wielders of the chaos energy being born daily. The special group of people who could harness the chaos energy are known as, The Supremes.

The wielders of this energy are known from birth, and they are generally referred to as, the Supremes. They formed a group known as the Supreme Corps that was specially created to train future chaos wielders to fight against the Siliks.
