Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 : Six Years Later

From a few seconds to a minute, then to hours, time slipped by like water through fingers. Day became night, night turned to dawn, and the cycle repeated endlessly. Days became weeks, weeks grew into months, and months bled into years. Just like that, six whole years passed. And with them, a cascade of small and monumental changes alike.

Our main character, Qing Chen, grew from a wide-eyed infant into a bright, uncanny young boy under the watchful care of BiBi Dong, the Supreme Pontiff of Spirit Hall. You might be wondering what six years looks like for someone reincarnated with the power to devour the sun with his musical and illusion mastery followed by a system designed by a goddess. Let me tell you.

Year One:

The first year, truthfully, was simple. Peaceful. A gentle beginning. The most notable part of Qing Chen's life in that first year was the unique bond he developed with his mother, BiBi Dong. Yes, the same BiBi Dong feared across the continent.

She doted on him endlessly, always holding him close, feeding him herself with warmth and comfort that sharply contrasted with the fierce image the world had of her. Breastfeeding became an intimate ritual, a connection between mother and son that he—strangely and amusingly—found himself looking forward to each day. And somehow, some way, he managed to take his first steps much earlier than anyone expected. Fantasy logic? Definitely. But impressive nonetheless.

Year Two:

The second year came with even more changes. The baby who once relied on being carried was now walking—and running—on his own two feet. His balance, his speech, his awareness of his surroundings sharpened with every passing week. By the end of the year, Qing Chen was fluent in speech, articulate beyond his age, and most importantly, completely in control of his body.

This new freedom allowed him to explore every inch of the Spirit Hall compound he was kept in. He climbed furniture, studied books well beyond his level, and even sneaked into restricted areas. But the greatest moment of this year was his second birthday.

BiBi Dong—proud, regal, and always distant to others—handed him a beautifully crafted Guzheng. She claimed it was a royal heirloom, though deep down, Qing Chen knew she had it commissioned just for him.

Of course, the gift wasn't random. Qing Chen had asked her for a Guzheng weeks earlier, playing innocent curiosity. She obliged, assuming it a passing interest. But when he placed his fingers on the strings, something shifted.

From that moment on, he practiced like a man possessed. Every day he'd play—plucking, strumming, mastering—letting the resonant tones of the Guzheng echo through the palace. BiBi Dong was initially confused, then alarmed, and finally impressed. No one had seen such dedication in a child.

Year Three:

The third year brought bittersweet change. Qing Chen's bond with BiBi Dong remained strong, but the breastfeeding came to a natural end. He no longer needed it, and she could no longer produce milk.

Though the change was inevitable, it marked the end of an era for Qing Chen. Still, he didn't let it slow him down. His days were filled with more training, emotional bonding with BiBi Dong, and a steady stream of luxury.

BiBi Dong spoiled him with love and gifts. Toys, books, rare ingredients for his meals, and anything he pointed at became his. His natural charm—and perhaps his spiritual presence—made her adore him like no one else.

But not everyone was pleased.

Qian Renxue, his older step-sister, watched the growing bond between Qing Chen and BiBi Dong from afar. Jealousy brewed. She had long craved the warmth and affection that BiBi Dong now gave so freely to Qing Chen.

Year Four:

By the fourth year, Qing Chen's talent with the Guzheng became undeniable. Spirit Hall instructors—handpicked by BiBi Dong herself—were summoned to guide his musical and martial progress. However, after just one month, most resigned, citing that the boy's talents outpaced their teachings.

He had begun composing original melodies, embedding spiritual power into each note (mainly due to the martial soul technique that was gifted by the system). He also mastered the art of playing the Guzheng while blindfolded to heighten his echolocation abilities.

He also began to understand the basic principles of spirit power cultivation. His dual martial souls had not yet awakened, but his grasp of energy, illusion, and resonance made him an enigma to the Spirit Hall scholars.

Year Five:

This was the year Qing Chen began forging his personal philosophy: a fusion of illusion, control, and grace. He didn't want brute strength. He wanted elegance. Strategy. Performance.

He began blending his music with illusion, even though his martial souls had not yet awakened. The mere act astonished him. He recorded his insights and worked hard to refine his playing. Each note became a blade, a balm, or a whisper.

Despite the system not issuing any quests, his progress was meteoric. He even created his first self-made spirit skill, which he called "The Melody of Life." A rare hybrid technique that healed, restrained, and even attacked in subtle ways. It wasn't powerful, but it was elegant. Unheard of. A five-year-old crafting a self-spirit skill? Unthinkable.

He kept this secret to himself—even from BiBi Dong.

Year Six:

Now we arrive at the sixth year, and what a year it's shaping up to be.

Qing Chen's martial souls are nearing their awakening. His bond with BiBi Dong has evolved into something profound, filled with mutual respect and subtle understanding. She confides in him—her doubts, her past, her ambitions.

And more eyes are starting to notice him.

Qian Renxue has stopped avoiding him. In fact, she's started testing him—challenging him in small, clever ways. Either in literature or music, disciplines mandatory for noble children. Despite her years of experience, Qing Chen bested her time and again, deepening both her frustration and curiosity.

She wants to defeat him. Just once. Even if only once.

But Qing Chen is no ordinary child.

Six years of knowledge, blessings, and bonds. The world of Douluo Dalu is waking up to his presence, and he's about to make his first real step into the spotlight.

And somewhere far above, the Goddess of Fate watches with a sly smile.

Because the game has only just begun, marking his sixth birthday and the moment of his official martial soul awakening.
