I woke up in a new world, disoriented and confused. For what felt like an eternity, I'd been surrounded by darkness. Now, I found myself in a village, with an old man in his late 50s approaching me.
"Hello there, young man," he said. "What brings you to this village? You don't seem to be from around here."
My mind was a blank. I struggled to process what was happening. *What is this place? How did I get here?* "Umm... where am I?" I asked, trying to sound calm.
The old man's expression turned puzzled. *This young man seems lost, but there's something about him that doesn't add up.* "You don't know where you are?"
I panicked, trying to think quickly. *I need to come up with a believable story.* "I think I lost most of my memory," I said.
"Lost your memory, have you?" The old man's eyes narrowed slightly. *I've seen people with amnesia before, but this one's different. He's too... calculating.* "Alright, young man, what's your name? Do you remember that at least?"
I hesitated, then said, "Yeah, I think my name is Shin."
"Shin, that's not a name from around here," he replied. *I wonder what his story is. Maybe he's a traveler from a far-off land.* "Shin what?"
I scrambled to come up with a surname. *Hikari, that's my father's surname. Maybe it'll sound convincing.* "My name is Shin Hikari," I said.
The old man nodded. "Shin Hikari, would you like to come work for me on the farms? You'll get to eat and sleep in a warm bed. Better than being here."
It didn't sound like a bad deal. *At least I'll have food and shelter for now.* "Alright, I'd love to," I agreed. "By the way, what's your name? And you still haven't answered my question."
"My name is John William," he said. "And this place is Britain. We have no king; our previous king, Uther, died."
My mind racing, I thought, *King Uther... this could mean two things: either I've time-traveled into history or I'm in a famous anime, Fate. I'd prefer being in history; it would be safer.*
Just as I was about to ask another question, I mentioned, "Hey, old man, do you know Merlin?"
John's expression changed slightly. *Merlin? Why would this young man ask about the court mage?* "Merlin, the court mage?"
I muttered under my breath, *Shit, I'm in the Fate anime.*
John didn't seem to notice. "Now, let's go; it's getting late, and my home is still far away."
As I took my first step in the direction John was heading, I heard a sudden sound: "Ping!" *System activated. Tragic Villain System activated. (Loading - 1%) Time duration: 1 year.*
Shin's thoughts: A system? Finally, a cheat! Though one year is nothing; I can wait. But can I communicate with this?
Shin: Hey, system, can you hear me?
System: HELLO, USER. SYSTEM IS STILL LOADING. YOU CAN ACCESS QUESTS, STATS, AND SKILL TREE AFTER LOADING IS COMPLETED. YOU WILL RECEIVE A GIFT PACK.
Shin's thoughts: A system? Let's see what I've got. He opened his stats.
