Chapter 17 - Go Together To An Empty Square

Chapter 17

------

" Cleara. You're still a failure at this! "

I sneered as I took off my blood-stained clothes to change.

Cleara slowly pulled carefully folded new clothes out of the brown leather bag and said sarcastically:

" Now I have to clean up this mess."

I said to her:

"No need to get so worked up, Cleara, calm down a little. After all, as you know, I'll let you go in peace, as I promised you before, and I've never broken a promise."

Cleara replied obediently:

"Will you really do it? You promised me before that if you found a man to marry me, you would let me go unconditionally. I don't know the real reason why you hate me so deeply, but will you do it, I wonder?

i sneered:

"You're getting bolder every day, and that interests me. Of course I'll let you go. Why would I change my mind now? After all, we have a unique relationship, one of life and death, don't we?"

Months ago, when I learned that I wasn't going to die, I promised Cleara that I would let her go if she found someone who wanted to marry her. Was that love on my part? Nonsense! Of course not! I wanted to carry out the plan I had carefully laid out, so I couldn't commit myself to this small, boring place. Before I left, I wanted to torture her a little. If I found someone who loved her, I would kill him in cold blood to break her heart before I left. Was that unhealthy? Who cares about mental health? Nah, she stopped me from dying, so screw her. She should gladly accept my punishment. As for the poor guy who would die without knowing why, screw him too.

After adjusting my clothes, I stood at the door and said:

"We'll go back to the castle tomorrow. Make sure you bring him early in the morning. I want to see with my own eyes who has the audacity to approach the maid of this handsome, irresistible gentleman!"

I laughed and left the house, but my face froze when I saw who was standing right in front of me.

I smiled and said:

"Mr. Sergia! Hello, you unlucky man."

Mr. Sergia smiled and sneered:

"Unlucky, you say? I met your guardian." She said you have a strong obsession with death and came to make sure our deal was still on.

My smile widened and I said:

"Of course our deal is still on, nothing will change. All I want is a light wave of your strong arm that broke the bones of so many, nothing more, nothing less."

Sergia said:

"I heard you're going back to the castle tomorrow. How are we going to do what we agreed? Do you want to do it outside?"

I was a little surprised to hear him say that. I knew then that he had overheard my conversation with Cleara, but it didn't matter. I said:

"Of course not, although I would very much like to. I have something to do tomorrow that cannot be postponed. It is a very important task for me. After all, I must bless the marriage of my servant to the one she loves. Isn't that the height of kindness and civility?"

I saw Sergia's eyes tremble involuntarily at my gaze. Had he changed his opinion of me? Was he crazy? Affectionate? Caring for his subjects? Mentally disabled?

I laughed as I patted him on the shoulder:

"See you tomorrow, Mr. Sergia, and be ready. I will leave the palace in the evening as planned, and we will go together to an empty square where no one can see or hear us, and we will do it with all our strength."

Sergia shuddered and said quickly:

"Mr. Ruthvien, if a passerby hears you saying such strange things, they will surely suspect that there is something between us that goes beyond business, and I am a married man with a reputation to uphold. I am not interested in such things."

I laughed and raised my hand without turning to him:

"Hahaha, do you think I'm not upright?

I left Sergia reeling from my words and went into the forest. The night seemed as dark as a spiteful heart, and I walked until I could see nothing but a road swallowed up by total darkness. I walked for about two hours, far away from the sleeping village.
