Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Awakening

The machines beeped in a steady rhythm.

In the quiet corner of Beijing Central Hospital, Room 314 had been untouched for two years. The patient inside—Lin Xian—had never moved, never spoken. Doctors called it a miracle that he was alive at all. They said he was brain-dead after the car crash. They said he'd never wake up.

They were wrong.

Tonight, the stars aligned. The moon was full. And deep within Lin Xian's soul, something ancient stirred.

A crack of thunder rolled across the sky, but no lightning followed. Just silence.

Then... the beeping stopped.

Not because he died—But because he opened his eyes.

They were silver. Bright, cold, and terrifying.

Inside his mind, space twisted. There was no hospital, no earth—just endless blackness. Floating in that void was a massive seal, cracked and breaking apart.

"You were supposed to sleep forever…""The Heavens sealed you." "You are forbidden."

Lin Xian's voice echoed back, deep and calm.

"Then let the Heavens tremble."

The seal shattered.

He sat up in the hospital bed, eyes glowing softly.

His breathing was calm, but the room felt wrong—heavier, like the air itself knew who he was. The lights flickered. The walls creaked.

A nurse walking by stopped and stared through the window. She dropped her clipboard.

"He—he moved!"

The machines came back to life, beeping faster.

Lin Xian touched his chest. The modern body was young, healthy... but weak. His spiritual core was gone. His meridians were shut. His cultivation was sealed.

But his soul—his immortal Void Soul—was intact.

And now that he had awakened, nothing could stop it from growing again.

He stood, pulling the IVs from his arm. His hospital clothes fluttered with invisible energy. He walked to the window and stared at the city.

Bright lights. Towers. Flying drones. Cars. Phones.

"So this is the 21st century…"

"Technology replaced Qi. Machines replaced masters. But none of it matters."

"Because I... have returned."

Three floors below, security guards ran toward the elevator. A red alert blinked on their screens.

"Room 314. Subject moved. Possible breach."

One of them scoffed. "He's a vegetable. What's he gonna do?"

Upstairs, Lin Xian reached out his hand.

A pencil floated into the air from the desk.

He twisted two fingers. The pencil folded in half... then again... then again... until it vanished into dust.

"Void Technique... still works."

He smiled for the first time in a thousand years.

"Let's see what this world has to offer me."

He walked out of the room.

When the guards burst through the stairwell door, guns raised, Lin Xian looked at them like they were ants.

"You dare point weapons at me?"

One guard shouted, "Hands up! You're not authorized to leave this floor!"

Lin Xian raised his hand.

Time slowed.

Wind howled down the hallway.

Snap.

The two guards dropped to their knees, clutching their heads, blood dripping from their noses. Their bodies slumped over, minds erased.

He didn't even touch them.

"This world... is far too soft."

Outside, the sky above Beijing cracked faintly with spiritual thunder.

Somewhere far away, an old monk meditating in a temple opened his eyes suddenly.

"A Void Aura...?"

In a hidden lab in Shanghai, a machine that measured "spiritual frequencies" exploded.

"Alert. Tier 9 spiritual signature detected. Threat level: unknown."

And in a penthouse in Hong Kong, a man in a golden robe dropped his wine glass.

"Who dares… return?"

Lin Xian walked through the hospital's front doors, barefoot, into the night.

He had no money. No ID. No name anyone would remember.

But he had power.

And he was going to take everything back.
