Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Survival

"Lilith Thompson, you need to get yourself a job" she told herself. She, in fact, needed a job. Since she graduated, she had to prove she could be an independent woman.

Her parents did pay for her moving in, but that was just it. She had graduated a month ago... was it two? let's just make it three. Her rent was almost due, but she was short on money. In easier terms, she was jobless. she got up and put on her sneakers, took her phone and left the house. To hustle. To survive...

She strolled and strolled, searching for a job opening. None. she felt like losing hope. like giving up. But no, she couldn't. she couldn't go back begging for her parents' money. Wasn't that their goal; to make her realize how much she needed them but no- she wasn't falling for it. She won't give up.

She's been walking around for two hours. Nothing. Just as she was about to call it a day, a shop caught her eye. One she hadn't seen whilst walking around in circles. She pondered as to why she didn't see it ever since. A poster was hung up on the window:

'URGENT WORKER NEEDED'

She smiled, feeling as though she had finally succeeded. She even forgot to take a nice look at the exterior.

It was old fashioned but still pretty and it succeeded in bringing joy and hope to one who felt hopeless. In bringing a smile to her once pale, dull-looking face. At last, she felt like she had accomplished something even if she hadn't been hired yet- did I forget the description of this wonderful place.

There was a big, cute sign that said: Granny's place

The place had beautiful flowers that could catch any eye. How come she only found out about this place now? how has no one taken any positions here? where did this place even come from!

Of course, none of these questions crossed her mind. She was too focused on finally getting as job. I mean who wouldn't. She's been having a hard time and now she finally gets a job. Nothing will stop her from being all happy and excited. No negative thought, no shitty thing was going to ruin her mood... Or so she thought...

"Aren't you going to come in?" an old lady from nowhere said from the glass startling her. She jumped on the spot and bowed at the woman with a smile.

She walked inside, admiring the mysterious interior. Everything seemed so peculiar, strange. Everything felt so off. But she was already desperate, meaning there's no stopping her.

"Welcome!"

"Good morning ma" she said and bowed "I'm here for the job?"

"Oh, it's been so long. Everyone says I'm creepy... Do you think so?"

"Oh, it's new seeing you so... um, how am I supposed to know?" she said laughing nervously and the woman smiled

"Well introduce yourself" the woman said and sat on the rocking chair that was near her.

"Oh. Well, I'm Lexus Vang, 19 years old. I'm done with university and I'm in need of a job" she said honestly, and the woman nodded mumbling something about her being special but she at the moment only cared about getting a job.

"You're hired"

"Wait- really?! thank you, thank you, thank- I could hug you but you're my boss, thank you!!!" she exclaimed, and the woman nodded slowly. "Go in that room. There'll be what you need" Lexi nodded and walked into the room.

She had an eerie feeling but pay no heed to it. She has a job now. Step one into survival...
