"This place is freezing," he remarked, glancing at the ancient radiator coughing in the corner.


I shrugged. "The heating's temperamental."


"Like its owner," he teased, shrugging off his expensive jacket.


I ignored the comment and headed to the kitchen. "Are you hungry? I can make something."
