Episode --- 7
The leather-bound journal felt heavier than it looked. Alone in her room, Areum traced the faded characters, her breath shallow.
It began not with magic, but betrayal. Generations ago, the Ryu and Han families had allied through marriage, sealing power between them. But fear of betrayal led them to create a curse: if love turned to hate, only one born under blood moon could end the other's life.
"One voice shall bind the other, so the bloodline may survive," the old writing read.
Areum's pulse quickened. It meant Junseo's power over her wasn't just fate — it was designed, calculated to keep the bloodline safe, even if love failed.
---
Then, in the margin, a single line:
"Break the bond not by killing… but by giving life."
Marriage and a child. It was never a blessing — it was a failsafe to ensure the curse wouldn't destroy the family.
---
Down the hall, Junseo confronted Chairman Park.
"You went through my grandfather's files," Junseo said coldly. "Why?"
Park's smile didn't reach his eyes. "Your family has secrets, young master. Investors deserve truth."
"It's not your truth to reveal," Junseo warned.
"Maybe not," Park said. "But what will happen when your doctor friend discovers the rest?"
---
Back in her room, Areum closed the journal, heart hammering.
The curse wasn't about them. It was about power. And love — the thing she'd once dreamed of — had always been a tool.
But even knowing that, her heart still beat painfully when she thought of him.
