The One I Cannot Be
---
The cave had turned silent again.
The colors were gone.
The light had faded.
The miracle… was over.
The Doma slowly lifted its head back,
its glowing ears trailing stardust,
its majestic body hovering just inches above the earth as it settled in the air beside Deffto.
For a moment, nothing moved.
Only breath.
Only memory.
---
Deffto, still kneeling on the ground, stared ahead in disbelief.
His eyes were wide ....filled with tears, wonder, and something deeper…
A silent ache.
The colors…
They had been real.
But only for a moment.
And now,
they were gone.
---
The Leap into the Unseen
Without saying a word,
Deffto stood.
He turned away from the Doma
who still glowed softly, watching without judgment
and ran toward the heart of the glowing forest.
There, hidden between the glowing roots and sky-reflecting leaves,
was a sacred lake.
Its waters shimmered with golden and orange hues,
and beneath its surface floated thousands of glowing orbs,
like fish of light .. drifting, waiting.
---
Deffto didn't hesitate.
He leapt.
With a soft splash, he disappeared into the lake.
The Doma followed
not walking, not flying
but diving through the air like a comet falling from grace.
---
Beneath the Surface
The water was warm.
And alive.
It wasn't just a lake
it was a realm of pure creation,
a place where thought shaped light,
and imagination breathed form.
Deffto closed his eyes.
He thought of something beautiful.
Something he longed to be.
Something… more.
And as he did
the tiny glowing orbs began to swirl.
They moved toward him,
gathering, pulsing, twisting
until slowly… a shape emerged.
---
The Other Me
Before Deffto floated a new Delltanoss
shimmering, radiant, flawless.
Its wings glowed with every color known and unknown,
its tail moved like rivers of flame and moonlight,
its skin shimmered like crystal rain.
Its face… was his own.
But better.
Brighter.
Complete.
---
Deffto reached forward.
But his hand stopped halfway.
His voice cracked.
"Why…?"
"Why am I not… like that?"
"What's missing in me…?"
---
The Doma floated beside him,
still glowing.
Still silent.
Its eyes....deep crimson and endless
looked not at the figure of perfection…
but only at Deffto.
Not the dream.
The soul.
