Chapter 15 - Volume 1 Chapter 127: Social Anxiety

Why on earth did Wen Yang suddenly decide to give her a gift?

And women's clothing, of all things...

Ning Chu looked at the outfit on her lap and let out a deep sigh.

While she knew she couldn't avoid wearing women's clothing forever, and had even tried a maid outfit once in the past, she had always envisioned herself as a dashing, tomboyish figure—not a cutesy girl in a short skirt.

"Here, take it." She shoved the outfit and accessories into Yan Xinya's arms. "It's yours now. No need to thank me."

"Call me if you ever want to wear it~" Yan Xinya said, grinning as she hugged the clothes. "Aren't you going to try it on first? What if it doesn't fit?"

"There's no need."

Why couldn't this wolf-girl be more like Lily? She was the Vice Class Monitor, for goodness' sake! Why was she always stirring up trouble? Look at Lily—quietly reading her book, calm and composed. Such a perfect example of good behavior!

Ning Chu slumped lifelessly against the backrest of the bench, her eyes drifting to Wen Yang, who was jogging on the track.

The school's sports meet was coming up on Wednesday, and some of the students who had signed up were doing last-minute training.

She mulled over the idea of asking Wen Yang to hold back during the meet. If he performed too well, it would attract the attention of all the girls in school. She didn't want a horde of female supporting characters swarming around him, turning her into a full-fledged succubus in no time.

"By the way, Xinya, didn't you sign up for the 100-meter sprint? Aren't you going to practice?"

"Just about to!"

The wolf-girl tossed her empty milk tea cup into the nearby trash can and lightly tiptoed her way toward the track.

With one person gone, the bench felt noticeably more spacious. Ning Chu yawned but found her gaze drifting back to the women's outfit on the bench.

She was a little curious how she would look in it.

Probably... pretty good, right?

"Want to try it on?"

Startled, she looked up to see Lily's faintly red eyes fixed on her. She quickly shook her head.

Lily tilted her head in confusion, sensing Ning Chu's aversion to wearing women's clothing. After a brief pause, Lily subtly shifted closer to Ning Chu, scooting over on the bench. She then lowered her head and pulled out her phone.

A moment later, Ning Chu blinked as her own phone vibrated.

She opened the app to find a message from Lily.

"We're sitting right next to each other. Can't you just talk to me directly?" Ning Chu said with a wry smile. "Are you really that socially anxious?"

"..."

Lily remained silent, so Ning Chu opened the message.

"Have you decided which toy you're going to buy?"

"..."

Ning Chu was momentarily at a loss for words. She pressed her lips together and glanced at Lily's expressionless face, then back at the surprisingly bold message.

Ding

"I think you should start with something smaller, like this one," the message read.

Now Ning Chu was truly speechless.

She blushed furiously, sneaking glances at Lily, whose calm demeanor gave no hint of the wildness in her text.

"And it's more discreet. You can use it while lying on the bed without anyone noticing," the next message added.

Lily wasn't just sending suggestions—she was sharing experience.

Although Ning Chu considered herself a bit of a lecher, she had never discussed such topics so openly with someone. Her cheeks quickly turned a bright shade of pink as she nervously checked her surroundings to make sure no one was peeking at her screen.

"Let's just forget about it…" she finally replied, attaching a speechless cat meme.

It had to be said: chatting online really did reduce feelings of embarrassment significantly.

"If you're using your hands, make sure your nails are trimmed and rounded. You don't want to hurt yourself."

Ning Chu's already flushed face turned beet red as she fidgeted uncomfortably in her seat. "..."

"Don't be shy~ Look at you blushing! This is a required course for succubus!"

You're one to talk!

If you weren't shy, you wouldn't be sitting right next to me and still insisting on texting!

Ning Chu shot an annoyed glare at the ice-cold expression on the succubus's face.

"Why are you only starting to develop now that you're in college? Your chest is still so… petite."

"I wish I knew."

"Hmm~ Let me take a closer look and see how much you've developed!"

What kind of perverted talk is this?

Ning Chu let out a sigh of utter despair. "It's about half a heart now."

Before, it had just been a curved line, but after disrupting the plot yet again at noon, the markings on her lower abdomen had visibly grown into a distinct half-heart shape.

"That's just the beginning. It might take another year or two. No wonder it's still so small. When I was thirteen, I was already more developed than you!"

For Ning Chu, it might just take a few more disruptions to the storyline.

Lily's online presence was so overwhelming that Ning Chu felt she couldn't keep up. What made it worse was how Lily seemed to have completely compartmentalized her personality—being wild and flirtatious online, yet dressing conservatively in hoodies and sweatpants in real life, perfectly embodying the aloof ice queen persona.

Ning Chu, on the other hand, couldn't pull off such a duality.

Frustrated, she furiously typed back: "If you love toys so much, why don't you just find yourself a man?!"

"Men are dirty and gross."

"So, does that mean your first time will be with a toy?"

"Exactly!"

Look at her saying that so confidently. There was no winning this.

Ning Chu put her phone down in defeat, turning to look at Lily beside her. "I'm tired of typing. Let's just talk."

"C'mon, let's keep chatting~" Ning Chu leaned in teasingly. "That website of yours—I've seen it. Got any good book recommendations?"

"No."

Lily kept her head down, but her stoic face was rapidly turning pink.

"You're so chatty online. What happened now?"

Seeing Lily remain silent, Ning Chu gave up teasing her and rolled her eyes. "You're way too socially anxious."

Online, she was a social menace. In real life, she was a socially anxious wreck.

"Ning Chu! Roll call! Class is about to end!"

From the track, Wen Yang called out and waved in their direction.

"Coming!" Ning Chu shoved the women's clothing into Lily's arms. "Take this to Xinya for me."

"Okay."

The two of them jogged over to the track, where the gym teacher had already begun taking attendance. This was to prevent students from sneaking back to their dorms during free activity time.

"Ning Chu."

"Here!"

She had already sidled up to Wen Yang. "Are we eating at the cafeteria or taking food back to the dorm?"

"I'm going to practice a bit more. Don't want to embarrass myself during the sports meet."

It was true—standing out too much or doing terribly at the sports meet would both draw unwanted attention and significantly increase Wen Yang's popularity.

Ning Chu stood on her tiptoes and whispered to Wen Yang, "During the sports meet, don't place in the top three. Just do well enough to not embarrass yourself."

"Why?" Wen Yang blinked, confused. "The advisor said there's a 100-yuan prize for first place."

"Don't just think about the money!"

"But winning would also bring honor to our class."

"..."

Ning Chu explained helplessly, "It's not about the honor or the money. If you place in the top three, everyone at school will recognize you."

"The announcement system will definitely broadcast it, and there might even be a prize ceremony. Then all those scheming girls will start targeting you!"

Wen Yang looked completely unfazed. "Let them target me. I don't even have much money on me right now anyway."

Most of his weekend tutoring wages had gone toward the clothes he bought for Ning Chu, leaving him with just enough for meals until next month.

"..."

"Or... are you jealous?" Wen Yang suddenly smirked and looked down at her.

Ning Chu rolled her eyes. "Why would I be jealous?"

"Then it's no big deal."

Why won't this guy listen to reason?!
