Chapter 14 - The Third Trial (II)

3rd POV:

The first round had ended an hour ago, and it was time to draw numbers once more. This time Samael drew the number 582, meaning he'd have to fight the person with the number 18 in his second round. Augustus drew the number 11 and heaved a sigh of relief as he saw he wouldn't have to fight against Samael. After all, he knew he wouldn't stand a chance against him as he was right now. Especially not since Samael had begun using water laws through his bloodline. "Good luck, Augustus. Win so we can explore the Aurora Pocket Dimension together. I do not wish to go without you." "I will, Samael. I have to beat you after all." The two parted ways, heading to their respective arenas once more. This time Samael's opponent was a young man, older than him at 17 years of age. "Arena 18, Victor Voidstar versus Samael of Akasi. 3 minutes until battle, ready yourself." "Perhaps you will be a bit more of a challenge than that Samara girl I fought before, Victor. Let us have a worthy match." Samael's voice reverberated across the arenas. The audience's attention immediately began shifting towards arena 18, curious to see who is so bold. "Very well, Samael of Akasi, there shall be no surrender in this match, only the glory of victory and shame of defeat." "Let the second round… BEGIN!" The announcer's voice rang out, signaling the start of round two. The two clashed. Shockwaves burst out, destroying the shields isolating the arenas. Strike after strike, sword versus spear. The arena was demolished in seconds as the two continued fighting in the air. Even though this was an extremely durable artificial world, constructed to hold even 4th dimensional beings at their full power, the boys clashed and caused immense damage to their surroundings. They moved at half the speed of light as the world seemed to be frozen around them. Because Samael still hadn't broken his mortal shackles, his body, despite being both stronger and faster, couldn't keep up with Victor's vicious offensive. The boy had imbued wind laws into his weapon arts, allowing for speeds surpassing that of light itself. To keep up with the speed of Victor's sword arts Samael had to forsake his eyesight and rely entirely on energy sensing, something that shouldn't be possible until he was in Tier 1.

Samael began calling on the laws of water, pulling it out of the very air as he formed spikes of superheated water all around him. Samael would move them close to Victor and detonate them, causing an immense heat wave as the water turned instantly to steam, hundreds of thousands of degrees hot. This interrupted Victor's flow, allowing Samael to move in with his spear and stab Victor in his dominant arm. This severely weakened Victor, as even though his sword could be wielded both one-handed and two-handed, his dominant hand was unable to hold onto the sword due to its sustained injuries. Their battle was so far beyond what was considered possible for their realm that all the other matches had to be paused and the contestants had to be brought to safety by the elders. One of the elders mobilized their Chaos Essence, forming a barrier far stronger than the ones that had once confined the arenas. The elders were powerful beyond comprehension, so it took little to no effort to confine the youths in a stronger barrier. That, however, didn't stop the shocked faces from appearing on the elders. Samael was fighting by far the most talented youth of the Voidstar Clan, having reached the 6th stage of the Chaos Acceptance Realm and the Chaos Soul Realm. Having also achieved a full coalescence of his law core made him a terrifying foe that very few could match at the same stage. In spite of that, Samael was matching him before even achieving his First Ascension. It was a terrifying concept that most believed to be impossible. Even so, the battle raged on. Samael's body still didn't have the prerequisite power to hold a law core, and as such he couldn't truly match Victor's law-powered offensive. They were evenly matched despite the difference in law power. Neither was able to push the other back enough to create a decisive opening. The fight raged on for hours. Hours turned to days, which turned to weeks. Still, it didn't stop; it didn't even slow down. Instead, the impacts of their clashes only grew more powerful as time went on.

Samael's spear was covered in water laws and Void Essence as Samael continued to try and get in a decisive blow. Victor had only achieved advanced-level mastery of his sword arts, allowing Samael to have a crucial edge in the weapon clashes. Their bodies were on the breaking point, but both refused to give up, refused to be the loser. It was a battle of wills as much as a battle of power. Even so, Samael's spear eventually found its way into Victor's other arm. The boy could now no longer hold his sword. It was an insurmountable disadvantage. His body, beaten and broken, his weapon discarded. Even still, Victor stood proud, his back straight, his facial expression stoic and focused. He knew he had lost, but he refused to lose without dignity. "You've earned my respect, Samael. You are an incredible warrior, and your name will spread far and wide as you become a paragon of power in the wider Dimensional Clusters. I hope to meet you again in the Aurora Pocket Dimension. We will have our rematch once we've both reached the peak of Tier 1. You are a worthy rival, and I will strive to beat you, no matter what." "Very well, Victor. You have an incredible power lying dormant within you. I look forward to our rematch, my rival." With those words leaving Samael's mouth, Victor fell to the ground, unconscious. Samael floated down to the destroyed arena, looking around at the devastation he and Victor had caused before the Elders had intervened.*It was an incredible battle. Unlike anything I've ever felt before. Truly, our rematch will be legendary… I just have to find somewhere stronger than this.* "THE WINNER OF ARENA 18 IS SAMAEL OF AKASI!!! WHAT AN INCREDIBLE BATTLE!! THIS NEW GENERATION IS SOMETHING ELSE INDEED!! THE OTHER MATCHES WILL RESUME ONCE THE ARENAS HAVE BEEN RECONSTRUCTED AND THE BARRIERS REMADE!" The Elder's voice reverberated across the entire courtyard as the other youths, still in shock from the power displayed by Samael and Victor's match, came out of their daze.
