Chapter 18 - Two Copper Coins and a World Apart

Lee Kiwook, however, didn't laugh. He was trying to integrate into this world, but that didn't mean he'd forgotten the memories of his past.

In his world, players could choose any race and pursue any class they liked. Undead and elves could go to complete a dungeon together; angels and demons could even form a guild. What had once been completely normal now seemed utterly ridiculous.

But Lee Kiwook didn't voice any objections to Ms. Roaille's perspective. He was no longer the player who once dominated the server, and this was no longer a carefree holographic game.

This was a real world. All he could do now was either accept it or change it.

After nearly five hours of magical theory, Lee Kiwook staggered out of the classroom, carrying a magic tome as thick as a brick.

The overwhelming realism of having crossed into another world was hitting harder by the hour.

He didn't want to attend classes—ahhh!!

Elarion was dizzy from hunger as well.

Commoners didn't usually eat breakfast. At most, they would nibble on a chunk of hard bread while heading to class or work, just enough to keep them going.

Elarion was no different. He had gnawed down a palm-sized piece of bread in the dorm room that morning, and by now, it had been digested completely, replaced by a crushing wave of hunger.

"Class really takes it out of you… I've never felt this exhausted, not even when I was out preaching with the priest…" Elarion muttered weakly. He checked on his physical state and sighed in resignation, "I think we'll have to take a horse-drawn carriage. I really don't have the energy to walk all the way to Central Street."

Lee Kiwook's half-lidded eyes flew open as he stared at him in shock. "Wait—so your original plan was to walk to Central Street?"

His in-game map was quite detailed, and it clearly showed that the Magic Academy was still a good distance away from Central Street.

Without a teleportation array, walking at a normal pace would take about an hour.

And for these delicate mages with an average walking speed of 0.5 meters per second, by the time they reached it, the sun would be setting.

Elarion placed the magic tome into his burlap backpack and slung it over his shoulder, offering an embarrassed smile. "A ride on a magic carriage costs two copper coins. I was hoping to save a bit of money…"

Copper coins… Lee Kiwook had never even heard of that currency denomination before.

He glanced at his inventory. In-game currency didn't take up bag space; instead, it was displayed in a long string of digits in the top right corner of the interface.

He had never really paid attention to how much he had, after all, in games like this, gold was the easiest resource to earn. It was practically the opposite of real-life currency.

After estimating the nine digit gold count that began with a nine, Lee Kiwook spoke earnestly, "These minor expenses… I'll cover them. I have a decent amount of money saved up."
