"Who said from now on you're my maid?"
Ruby angrily replied,
"I'd rather die than be your maid! You arrogant jerk..."
Kai smiled calmly and said,
"I'll give you one day to accept. If you don't, you're finished."
Ruby walked away without a word, her voice trembling with anger. She didn't know that Rosie, her best friend, was hiding behind the wall. Rosie had only heard the end of their conversation—when Kai said "one day". She misunderstood the situation and thought that maybe Kai liked Ruby and wanted to date her.
Night fell. Ruby went to the restaurant as usual, but she felt uneasy. She stood behind the dining hall where she could see her friends eating. One of them called out to her, but Ruby didn't want to hide her secret. She walked up to the restaurant owner and said,
"I can't work tonight. I'm sorry."
Just then, Rosie entered the restaurant. Ruby saw her standing near the entrance. She didn't want to go in, afraid her coworkers might see her. But Rosie walked up and said with a smile,
"Hey, come inside."
Ruby, feeling miserable, reluctantly entered. To avoid being recognized, she wore a mask. Her friends were chatting excitedly. Suddenly, Rosie turned to the group and said playfully,
"You know Ruby has a boyfriend?"
Everyone gasped,
"Really? Who is it?"
Rosie whispered,
"It's a secret."
Then she leaned close to Ruby's ear and whispered,
"I know who it is."
Ruby whispered back in panic,
"Who?"
Rosie said quietly,
"Kai."
Ruby's eyes widened. She quickly grabbed Rosie's hand and said,
"Come with me."
They went to the restroom together. After closing the door, Ruby said,
"How can you say that? That guy just transferred here, and you think he's my boyfriend? Aren't we supposed to be best friends?"
Rosie replied calmly,
"I heard you two talking. He said you have one day to decide. That means he wants to date you."
Ruby stayed silent. She said nothing—just walked out. Rosie was puzzled. "She usually never lets me go unanswered... Maybe there's something else going on."
A little later, one of their friends said,
"From now on, this restaurant belongs to my dad. You guys can come anytime you want."
Upon hearing that, Ruby quickly stood up and left the restaurant.
It was nighttime. She lay down on her bed, eyes filled with questions.
"What am I supposed to do?"
Early the next morning, Ruby arrived at school earlier than usual. Suddenly, Kai approached, grabbed her hand, and said,
"Come with me."
He took her to the school office. Kai's face was slightly red. Ruby stopped, took a deep breath, and said,
"I accept your offer. But I have one condition."
Kai smirked mischievously and asked,
"And what's that?"
Ruby looked straight into his eyes and said,
"Be my boyfriend."
