Chapter 1 - Nightmare

Narrator 's Pov.

Please... don't do it," a man in his early forties begged, lying in his blood, reaching for his wife as the masked man held her by the neck.

"Niya, you should have stayed within your limits," he pushed and tore her sleeves along with her skin. Niya cried in pain as the sharp knife cut her skin.

""But no, you had to confront us directly... look at what you've brought upon yourself." Nia wanted to respond, but the poison made it difficult for her to speak. Even in such a defeated state, the fire in Nia's eyes rivaled that of the sun.

. The man looked at Niya even as the blood dripped down her face, her whole body bruised, she looked no less than a lioness who was ready to hunt. "Huh, look at you, even broken, you look beautiful..... but alas, such a shame I have to kill you, sweetheart ."

"If only you weren't this stubborn, you'd be alive and living a luxurious life as my Queen," he said with lustful eyes checking out her body. He took the knife and started to cut Niya's top off her chest. As the knife cut the top, Arav Niya's husband screamed, " GET YOUR FILTHY HANDS OFF her bastard..... I will kill you ".

"Shut up, you think you can kill me in this state, Arav?" Man, Chuckled., He left Niya and went to Arav. He took out his gun and shot Arav in the head.

Arav went still. Niya, now lying on the floor with her torn clothing, let out a scream filled with so much agony that it could even move the devil to tears. The same woman whose eyes had once burned with fire now looked dull and horrified as she witnessed her husband and love die right before her eyes.

"What was her fault?" she asked God, her voice trembling with anguish. "Why, why, why... why her and her family?" The masked man approached her, his presence suffocating her. "Now we can talk, darling," he said, licking his lips. His hands were about to touch her bosom, but Niya summoned every ounce of strength she had left to move away from him. Desperation and grief twisted in her heart as she screamed, "You will pay for this... You will beg for your death, even if your wish isn't granted."

Memories of her husband flooded through her, and the sharp pain of his loss felt like a fresh wound. But it was her daughter that consumed her thoughts—the little girl left to face this nightmare alone. She glanced at Arav's deathbed, her heart aching with the unbearable guilt of leaving her daughter unprotected.

Then she turned to the mirror, staring into her own reflection, and the weight of her sorrow deepened. She saw not just herself but the image of her daughter, vulnerable and scared, waiting for her mother's return. Tears streamed down her face as she mouthed, "Sorry," knowing she had left her daughter to bear the consequences alone, a burden too great for someone so young.

She bit her tongue so hard that blood started to flow from her mouth. The masked man was shocked as she collapsed on the floor.

Niya's death unfolded as a tragic crescendo amidst chaos. Even as the masked man inflicted pain with his knife, her spirit remained unyielded. Each sting reminded her of her love for Arav, fueling a determination to protect what mattered most.

When he turned to Arav, the world shattered around her. Watching her husband fall lifeless sent a visceral agony through her—a profound loss that eclipsed her fight. Her desperate scream echoed through the room, capturing her heartache and rage. In those final moments, Niya summoned the last remnants of her strength, cursing her attacker and vowing he would pay for what he had done.

""Boss, we need to get out of here quickly," a voice called from the dark corner of the room. The masked man glanced over and nodded. He was still in shock that Niya had made this choice, and even more than that, he felt a deep anger that she had consistently chosen death over him, preferring Arav instead.

"Let's go and burn this place down. No one should know what happened here," he said, and he went from there with his men.

Unaware that behind the mirror, a girl around fifteen years old was desperately pounding on the glass door. Blood dripped from her hands, and tears streamed down her face as the horror of what she had just witnessed consumed her. Her parents lay motionless before her, and an overwhelming sense of loss gripped her heart.

"Mom... Mom... Dad..." she cried, her voice hoarse and broken from the sobs. The weight of despair pressed heavily on her chest, making it hard to breathe. Fear clawed at her insides as she realized the permanence of their absence, each moment stretching into an eternity of anguish.

"No! No! Mom! Daaaad!" she screamed, her voice echoing with anguish. Panic surged within her—what was she supposed to do without them? A chilling emptiness enveloped her, and in that moment, everything went blank.

"No! No!" she cried again, desperation consuming her as she clung to the hope that somehow, it wasn't true. The world around her faded, leaving only the haunting reality of her loss.

Though her life was snuffed out in an instant, Niya's death became a catalyst for her daughter, Avayyana. It ignited a fire within her, turning grief into a quest for justice. Niya's story, marked by tragedy, transformed into a testament of resilience and love that transcended death, inspiring Avayyana to honor her memory by rising against the darkness that had stolen everything from them., yet she can do nothing about it. She feels helpless

Avayyana Jolt awoke, tears streaming down her face and her breathing uneven. A tight knot formed in her chest, making it feel like she was being suffocated. "It's just a dream... it's just a dream... just breathe," she whispered to herself, desperately trying to calm the rising tide of panic. She knew no one else would come to her aid. After what felt like an eternity, about twenty minutes passed before she finally began to regain control. Taking a deep breath, she glanced out the window; it was still dark, the world outside shrouded in shadows.

She checked her phone, which read 3:40 AM. "Great, another sleepless night," she muttered, the weight of despair pressing down on her as she lay back down. Almost eight years had passed, yet she was haunted daily by that terrible memory. Each night, visions of her parents' brutal killings and torture played in her mind like a relentless nightmare

"Avyanna... Avyannaaaaa!" Savita, Avyanna's aunt, shouted from the living room, her voice laced with frustration.

"Arey, kya hua? Itni subah kyun chilla rahi ho? Ab kya kar diya meri bacchi ne?" Abhiman Rathore asked his daughter-in-law, who was coming in a wheelchair, his voice tinged with a sense of helplessness. (Why are you shouting this early in the morning? Now, what has my child done?)

Savita didn't bother to respond; her anger intensified as she continued to call out Avyanna's name, each repetition more forceful than the last. Soon, everyone had gathered in the living room, fully expecting their daily dose of drama.

Mahesh, Avyanna's uncle, ignored his wife's rage and continued reading the newspaper, unfazed. Meanwhile, his daughter Mysha couldn't help but grin at the thought of Avyanna receiving an earful from her enraged mother. Abhiman felt caught in the middle, wanting to diffuse the situation but powerless to stop the storm brewing before him. Savitri Devi, the grandmother, was doing her prayers, but her ears were perked up, ready for the showdown that was about to unfold.
