Chapter 2 - Transferred student...

Mrs. Lewis fixed Elena with a fiery stare with her eyes sparkling with resentment. "You're forty minutes late and yet, you have the nerve to walk in wearing that ridiculous headset."

The time began to stretch like a snail as Elena's eyelids fluttered indifferently. She clasped her hands behind her back, then lowered her head, staring blankly at the floor.

"I asked a question and I demand answers Miss."

Instead of responding, Elena dug her teeth into her lower lip, her eyes blinking vacantly.

"Am I speaking to a deaf person?" Mrs. Lewis questioned, seething with rage as Elena's nonchalance enraged her.

Still, Elena's head remained lowered, her face deadpanned.

"Preposterous!" Mrs. Lewis exclaimed in exasperation and stormed out, plunging the class into chaos.

The room erupted with comment from every corner of the class targeted at Elena.

"Thanks to her, our class got cut short."

"Damn it!" Someone exclaimed from the back seat.

"Hell of a mess."

"This bitch ruined our class."

"Asshole!" Another student yelled.

"Pain in the ass."

"Shit stirrer."

"Damn nuisance."

"F***ing annoying."

Elena, unfazed by their insults, plodded back to her desk and retrieved her earbuds before digging it into her ears, shutting out everything and everyone.

***

Elena's desk vibrated as someone hit it with great force, she lifted her head with her eyes fluttering open and stared lazily at the lady standing in front of her desk, spilling something she couldn't hear cuz of loud music blaring in her ears.

Casting a lethargic glance at the girl, she freed her ears from the earbud and focused on the speaker.

"...ASAP." She ended whatever she was saying and Elena's eyes drooped, accompanied by a yawn, completely unaware of the girl's message.

"You weren't listening?" The girl groaned, shooting Elena a glare.

Elena, unfazed, reclined into the chair and folded her arms over her chest, wearing an indifferent expression.

The girl sucked in a heavy amount of air and pasted a fake grin. "Mrs. Marie demands your presence, ASAP." The girl said with a mischievous smile playing on her hued lips.

Tuning her out, Elena unzipped her backpack and tossed in her earbuds. Then, snatched it up and slung it over her shoulder before sauntering out.

"I'm so over the moon..." The girl chuckled, rambling on, oblivious to Elena's departure. "Actually I thought Mrs. Lewis would pardon you like she always does to you, but thank goodness, she didn't..." At last, she lifted her head and swallowed her next sentence before striding off..

'rap_ta_ta' the door echoed as Elena rapped it with her knuckles.

"Come in." The chancellor's voice squeaked out from the little opening around the door and Elena pushed the door open.

Stepping in, she crossed her arms and stood in front of Mrs. Marie, giving her a respectful bow.

"Elena." Mrs. Marie began, her voice stern. "Why're you being so difficult? Honestly, I've lost count of how many times a lecturer have brought up issues with your conduct? What's your stress?" She paused, softening her tone. "Yeah. Yeah. I understand you're still grieving for your father...." Elena's piercing look stopped Mrs. Marie cold.

"Fine, I won't pry, nevertheless, you gotta change. The semester has just began and already, you're causing trouble. Do you have anything to say for yourself?" She asked, however Elena's lips remained glued.

"Don't you have a voice? Can't you just try to explain yourself? Say anything!" She yelled, still, Elena's remained silent.

"Ugh, talking to you drains me." Her face contorted in frustration as she massaged her jaw.

"Moving forward, I expect no further issue. Should it happen again, you'll face disciplinary action. Consider this your final warning." Mrs. Marie concluded and Elena bowed slightly before pivoting to leave.

"Honestly, have you completely lost your voice?" Mrs. Marie murmured softly, her frustration evident. "Or you're just pretending to be mute?"

Paying no heed to her words, Elena stepped out, directly to her next class...biochem.

THE NEXT DAY

A car halted in front of the school gate and Jessy stepped out, already live.

"Already back at school, freaking finally. Day two and all's good. Yesterday's drama still hanging. You know, the lion's crazy meltdown..." Jessy's jaw dropped, literally, as she eyed the gorgeous figure that just walked past. "Holy crap! Are you seeing what I'm seeing?" A stunned gasp escaped her lips.

"Sh*t! This's a freaking angel in broad daylight_F***! Who's he?"

"Today, we are gonna be observing the behavior of planaria, AKA flatworms..." Pausing midway, Miss. Meyer glanced up only to find her students distracted. "Am I missing something?" She inquired, arching her brows as she noticed everyone's attention on something behind her.

'what's behind me?' she thought anxiously before giggling playfully.

"Am I safe?" Her voice quivered slightly with fear, betraying her composure.

No one paid attention to her cuz all eyes were glued on whatever or whoever was behind her.

Prepping herself, Miss Meyer turned around hesitantly, only to meet hazel eyes staring back at her. She tried to hold her jaw from dropping as she took in the image of the most gorgeous student standing in front of her.

The guy emanated a rumbled from his throat, jolting everyone out of their daze including the lecturer.

"Sorry am I in biology class?" His voice sounded so husky and charming melting different hearts

"Ye_yeah!" Miss. Meyer stuttered slightly. "Wh_what's your name?"

"Damien." His cool voice swiveled the air and a loud thud followed, emitting from a girl who had just collapsed from listening to his voice.

Crap!

"Someone should attend to her" Miss. Meyer yelled, casting a quick glance at the girl who collapsed.

However, no one paid attention to the girl cuz all eyes were fixed on the figure in front. "I don't think I have seen your face in my class before."

"Yeah! I'm a transferred student." He stated.

"Oh! You're welcome. You may have your seat." She smiled and Damien plodded to an empty seat at the far end of the class, close to the Elena.

"Geez" Hushed whispers filled the room, as the student murmured amongst themselves.

One of the girls sneered in sheer jealousy"She's probably over the moon..."

"Hideous creature." Another added

"He'd never cast a glance at...."

"Silence." Miss. Meyer command, quelling the murmurs.

Complete silence descended, yet, the girls continued shooting deadly glare at Elena, who sat close to the captivating newcomer, Damien.

Undaunted, Elena cast her gaze at Miss Meyer without battling an eyelid.

"Okay, let's continue with our discussion. As you all know planaria lives in marine, freshwater or terrestrial environment..."

AFTER CLASS..

As Damien advanced to the exit after gathering his books, Jessy intercepted him.

"Hey Damien. Jessica's my name but my fams calls me Jessy. I'm the ears and eyes of this school_need any info, I've got it. Make yourself at home, Damien. Welcome to Silverlake." Jessy concluded with a bright, inviting grin.

Damien shrugged his shoulders before mumbling."So?"

Jessy's lashes clapped as his response hit like a rock. "Erm_I_I..." She stuttered but immediately composed herself. "I could be your tour guide around the school."

"Thank you, I don't need a guide." Damien replied, walking away, leaving Jessy confused.

It took a few seconds before Jessy could realize who had occured. "Hold on!" She called out, stopping Damien in his tracks. "Can we be friends, then? She asked, flashing her cute dimples to him but he didn't even blinked.

"Appreciate the offer but I'm good." He stated and strutted out, leaving Jessy red.

"Damn it!" She exclaimed, stamping her foot against the floor. "Can't believe I got turned down. F***!" She growled, gazing after Damien, her teeth dug into her lower lip. "But don't worry pretty boy, I'm not the one to back down." She flashed a determined smile and began collecting her belongings.
