Chapter 13 - The Chosen One!

Before Ash stepped into the spatial crack, Aetherion enveloped him with space power, as he was still too weak to withstand the pressure with his low rank.

Li Jian gave Aetherion a deep look for a second before entering the spatial crack right after Ash.

Aetherion didn't react at all and immediately followed them right after Li Jian entered the spatial crack.

Just as Ash got out of the spatial crack, he looked around at the surroundings curiously and found out that the spatial crack's location was in the middle of a forest.

"Wait a sec." Ash said when he noticed Li Jian and Aetherion came out of the spatial crack.

He then ordered the system to upgrade his rank to the highest, as he had received a lot of silver points from killing the two Lord Ranks, and he didn't know what rank he could reach after using these points.

Ash also wanted to know how the system upgrade actually worked because he noticed that from the two experiences he had in upgrading his rank, the deduction on his points seemed to be off.

[Ding! Do you want to upgrade your rank to the Peak-level Gold Rank?]

"Yes!" Ash confirmed.

[Ding! 1 million silver points have been successfully deducted.]

[Ding! Congratulations to the host! You have successfully broken through to Low-level Gold Rank (Rank 4)]

[Ding! 2.4 million silver points have been successfully deducted.]

[Ding! Congratulations to the host! You have successfully broken through to Mid-level Gold Rank (Rank 4)]

[Ding! 6 million silver points have been successfully deducted.]

[Ding! Congratulations to the host! You have successfully broken through to High-level Gold Rank (Rank 4)]

[Ding! 20 million silver points have been successfully deducted.]

[Ding! Congratulations to the host! You have successfully broken through to Peak-level Gold Rank (Rank 4)]

At the same time the notifications rang in his mind, Ash felt the familiar yet unknown energy start to pour into his body at an extremely fast speed.

A moment later, he moved his body around, adjusting to his new strength with a wide smile as he felt satisfied.

But then, he remembered something and thought to himself. 'The deduction is the same as the second time I upgraded my rank? What about the first one? Could there be an error in the calculation? Why did the system calculate differently, then?'

"You're right, host. It was because when you upgraded your rank for the first time, the system only counted the cost of upgrading from the peak level to the next rank and decided to write off the cost from the low to peak level of each rank." The mechanical voice rang in his mind once again. But this time, it answered Ash's doubts instead of giving him a notification.

"Ahhhh, I see. No wonder the calculation seems off." Ash mumbled softly as he nodded his head.

Subsequently, Ash checked his personal information since he actually had never even taken a look at it.

Looking at his personal information, Ash was surprised when he saw the Divine-level Space and Time Element.

"Huh? I don't recall ever earning that as a reward. Where did it come from then?" Ash muttered to himself, recalling the rewards he had received so far in case he missed it.

"That attribute awakened automatically thanks to your bloodline and physique," Aetherion explained, overhearing his confusion. "Your elemental affinity far outstrips your rank because your Voidwalker Dragon bloodline and Eternal Void Chronobody physique inherently bond with space and time—arguably among the strongest of their kind."

"So that's how it is." Ash nodded in understanding.

"Otherwise, how else could you understand space and time so easily?" Aetherion sneered.

"Fuck, I thought that I was the chosen one." Ash mumbled in disappointment, as he had thought that he was just built differently.

"The chosen one, my ass." Aetherion rolled his eyes at how Ash confidently thought that he was the chosen one.

"Tch, let's go right away then." Ash clicked his tongue and changed the topic by heading northwest.

A few minutes later, the three of them finally arrived in front of a huge residence, incomparably better and larger compared to the current Vohn family.

The Heiyu Family residence's structure was more like a town because there were literally thousands of people who lived here.

"Stop!"

"State your business and your identity! Otherwise you will be treated as intruders!" One of the guards stepped forward with a firm expression.

"This is the Heiyu family's residence, right?" Ash asked as he wanted to confirm things clearly first.

"Of course!" The guard said it proudly, then frowned when he realized something. "Waitt… Who are you? Why would you even come here if you weren't even sure this was the Heiyu family's residence?"

The other guards also became wary and instantly put their hands on their weapons as if they were ready to take action.

"Li Jian, remember to take care of those above silver rank and spare the rest, including women and children." Ash waved his hand casually.

Li Jian nodded his head at the order and stepped forward with a grin as he put his hand on his unsheathed sword's handle.

"What the fuck are you talking about?" The guard in front realized something was wrong and yelled. "Stop! If you dare to take one more step forward, we'll use violence!"

"Get out of this place if you still value your life." Li Jian chuckled, ignoring the warning as he still walked forward.

All of the guards, including the captain, who was in the front and had been in charge the whole time, instantly drew their swords and looked at Li Jian with killing intent.

"You want to come at me one by one or all of you at once?" Li Jian said as he still walked calmly.

However, he stopped right after a few more steps and tilted his head, looking at Ash with a smile. "My lord, watch closely. I'll teach you as best I can."
