Chapter 1 - The Night of the beast

The village of Ravenswood lay shrouded in darkness, its residents huddled in their homes as the night wore on. It was a night like any other, yet the air was thick with an unsettling energy. The wind howled through the streets, rattling the shutters and extinguishing the torches that lit the way.

Ava, a young apprentice blacksmith, sat by the fire in her family's forge, hammering away at a glowing piece of metal. Her father, the village blacksmith, had taught her the trade, and she took pride in her work. As she hammered, she felt a strange tingling sensation in the air, like the earth itself was warning her of something.

Suddenly, a loud crash echoed through the village, followed by screams and shouts. Ava's heart skipped a beat as she dropped her hammer and rushed to the door. She flung it open, revealing a scene of chaos. People ran wildly through the streets, pursued by creatures unlike any Ava had ever seen.

The monsters were tall, with twisted, humanoid bodies and razor-sharp claws. Their eyes glowed with an otherworldly energy, and they seemed to be drawn to the sound of screams. Ava watched in horror as the creatures tore through the village, leaving destruction and death in their wake.

As the night wore on, the monsters grew bolder, and Ava knew she had to act. She grabbed a nearby sword and joined the fight, determined to protect her home and the people she loved. But as she fought, she realized that these creatures were not just mindless beasts – they seemed to be hunting something specific.

The creatures targeted the village's strongest warriors, taking them down with ease. Ava saw her friends and neighbors fall, one by one, and she knew she was in grave danger. As the night wore on, the monsters grew stronger, and Ava grew weaker.

Just when all seemed lost, a group of survivors stumbled into the village square, led by a grizzled old warrior named Thorne. Thorne had fought in battles against dark forces before, and he knew how to take down these creatures. Together, Ava and Thorne fought side by side, taking down monster after monster.

As the first light of dawn crept over the horizon, the creatures retreated, vanishing into the shadows like phantoms. The village lay in ruins, and Ava felt a sense of dread wash over her. She knew that this was only the beginning – the monsters would return, and next time, they might not be so easy to defeat.

Ava looked at Thorne, her eyes searching for answers. "What are these creatures?" she asked. "And why are they hunting us?"

Thorne's face was grim. "I've fought many battles, Ava, but this is different. These creatures are not of this world. They're here for a reason, and we need to find out what that reason is if we want to survive."

Ava nodded, determination burning within her. She would uncover the truth behind these monsters, no matter the cost.
