Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 – The Abandoned Awakes

Overan System – Hidden Shipyards

A ship emerged from the shadows of the Overan moon. Not birthed, but forged its vast hull gliding silently over the black, predatory and sleek despite its monstrous size.

5,000 meters of durasteel, carbon-mesh plating, and invisible tech.

This was The Abandoned.

A vessel unlike anything the galaxy had seen since the fall of the Infinite Empire. Powered not by standard hyper-fusion or kyber cores, but by Dark Hypermatter an unstable, potent energy source found deep within the Rakatan Archives scavenged from Lehon. It pulsed like a heart gone wrong, its hum deeper than any sound should be.

The ship's spine glowed faint violet. Its hull was coated with stygium crystal mesh, enabling complete stealth even in open space. It carried:

Three Class 1 hyperdrives (and two backups)

Four stern-mounted dark-energy fusion engines

Star Cannons, capable of cutting dreadnoughts in half

Barret guns for precision orbital bombardment

Heavy turbolaser batteries, triple-layered across the port and starboard sides

Gravity well projectors, for pulling ships from hyperspace

Tractor beam assemblies, magnetic rippers, and nano-scrambler fields

And most of all it was fast.

Unreasonably fast.

A beast cloaked in shadow, forged for speed, strike, and annihilation.

Testing Grounds – The Unknown Regions

Shepard didn't launch her with fanfare. There were no admirals or fleet reviews.

He sent her into the void.

Deep into the Unknown Regions, past navigational hazards and dead stars, into lawless systems where failed colonies and exiled warlords still scraped by.

The Abandoned became a ghost.

Its crew loyal Seraph elite and hardwired droids ran cruel simulations against real targets. Pirate outposts were incinerated. Smugglers were pulled from hyperspace and crushed mid-flight. Even a forgotten Separatist holdout on a drifting asteroid was wiped clean—used as target practice for the Star Cannons.

Entire worlds blinked offline.

The data streamed back to Overan, encrypted and analyzed.

Every flaw was corrected.

Every delay optimized.

And the final reports?

"Sublight traversal: 36% faster than projected.""Covert engagement rating: 98.7% undetected.""Structural durability: withstands full salvo from Imperial-era Star Destroyer analog.""Target elimination efficiency: 100% within range."

A warship had been born.

And no one knew it existed.

Overan – The Army of Ghosts

While the galaxy debated budgets, fleets, and separatist declarations, Overan's skies darkened with shuttle traffic.

Shepard's private army had reached 50 million clones.

Every one of them custom-grown, their DNA refined by Shepard's early breakthroughs in accelerated stability. Gone were the aging defects of the Kaminoan models. These clones aged quickly, trained faster, and retained far more than their predecessors.

They were distributed across Overan's multiple artificial islands, underground training fields, and orbital simulators.

They lived in silence.

Trained in shadows.

20 billion rounds of live fire had already been expended in planetary drills.Over 300,000 tanks, walkers, and modular gunships were in production.Atmospheric drops and void insertions had reached a 93% survival success rate.

But his jewel was not in mass.

It was in excellence.

The Seraph Commandos – 1st Gen Legacy

Standing atop a massive training dome, a line of 1st Generation Seraphs—the original super soldiers—watched silently as the next evolution of warfare unfolded before them.

They were legends among clones. Hardened veterans from Lehon, Muunilinst, and deep covert raids. Their armor bore the marks of Rakatan blood, not paint.

Their duty was simple now:

Forge the next elite.

The Seraph Commando Corps had grown to just over 40,000, handpicked from millions.

These were not rank-and-file soldiers.

They were saboteurs, assassins, special ops units, cyber-warfare agents, and insertion teams capable of turning entire battles.

Training was brutal.

Live combat simulations ran 26 hours at a time.

Loyalty tests involved temporary betrayal to test nerve and instinct.

Night-drop challenges over Overan's polar storms.

Melee fights with electrified vibroblades—no protection.

The weak were recycled. The strong moved forward.

The Seraphs taught them with no compassion—but total respect. This was war.

And war was coming.

Meanwhile – The Republic Stumbles

Back in the known galaxy, the Republic flailed.

Its economy still healing from the Flash Collapse.

Its politics divided between peace and war.

And across space, small conflicts flared like sparks… not yet a fire, but soon.

And in Overan's orbit, The Abandoned returned from its first campaign.

Not a scratch on her hull

Her engines cooling. Her cannons resting. But her databanks?

Overflowing with death.

Shepard stood in her command bay as the gravity well arrays powered down.

"Now," he whispered, "I have what I need to begin."
