Detective Dick Grayson is looking over files at the precinct in Bludhaven. As he does, he is approached by two other detectives.
"Hey Grayson, you wanna come get a drink with us?" One of the detectives asks.
"Sorry guys, I have a full plate tonight." Dick answers. The detectives nod and walk out of the precinct. Dick looks around and sees no one in sight. He drops the files, grabs his jacket and leaves. A few minutes later he walks into an empty wearhouse and opens a secret passageway to an underground basement.
In the basement, there are computers, Wing Ding's, and workout equipment. He looks at the computer and sees a video of the person that he's looking for. He then looks over at his suit with a smile on his face.
"It's time to get to work."
Later, a man is running through the streets of Bludhaven, constantly looking over his shoulder. He tries to climb a ladder to the roof, but a wing ding is thrown through his sleeve, trapping him to the wall.
Nightwing comes out of the shadows, scaring the man. He pulls out a gun on the vigilante, but he quickly disarms him and punches him in the face.
"William Drake. You're a tough man to find. I know your working with Black Mask so let's not drag this out. Just tell me where he is."
Nightwing tells him.
"Sorry I don't know who that is. I don't know anything." William replies.
"You really want to play this game, huh? Ok."
Nightwing grabs Williams hand.
"Your crazy, I told you I don't know anything."
William tries to struggle free.
"Look Willie, I don't want to do this. I know you don't want me to do this. So why don't you make this easier on both of us and you just tell me where he is."
"...I don't know."
Nightwing dislocates one of his fingers.
"You got nine more fingers before this gets serious."
When Nightwing doesn't get an answer back, he prepares to dislocate another finger.
"Ok, ok, ok. Iceberg lounge."
"Black Mask is in Gotham?"
"Yeah, he has some business with the penguin, I don't know when he'll be back."
Nightwing grabs William by the shirt.
"What kind of business?"
"That's all I know."
Nightwing let's go of Williams hand, but sticks a tracking device on his jacket.
"Ah, my fingers. You broke my damn fingers." William says in pain.
"Relax ya big baby, their not even broken."
Nightwing grabs his hand again.
"No, no, no, wait."
He pops Drake's fingers back into place, causing him to cry out in pain.
The next day, Dick is back at the precinct when he hears two other detectives talk about the vigilante called Nightwing and he smiles. He is then approached by the police chief Ellen Yin and a new detective.
"Grayson, this is detective Aaron Cash. He transferred from Gotham, just like you, so I thought you could show him around a bit."
"Roger that, Chief." Dick replies
He then shakes Aaron's hand.
"Mr. Cash, welcome to the show."
"Thanks, I hope I can keep up."
"Don't worry, it's mostly dull around here. You'll be fine."
Meanwhile in a large building, a man named David Li tells Black Mask about William Drake's encounter with Nightwing.
"It appears that Bludhaven has it's very own vigilante." Li says.
Mask slams his hand on the desk in frustration.
"We got out of Gotham to avoid the dark knight, now we have to deal with this guy stopping our deals all the damn time, and cracking down on our boys."
"Indeed, this "Nightwing" is becoming a nuisance."
"And we need to handle this before it becomes an even bigger problem."
Black mask gets up and faces the window.
"We need to put this guy down. Now."
As that's happening, Dick is sharpening his wing dings at his secret base of operations. He quickly stops as he hears something behind him. Dick then quickly throws a wing ding that lands in the wall, inches away from Barbra Gordon who is in a wheelchair.
"Nice to see you too, Dick."
