Chapter 9 - Guardian Meeting 1

[Mortal Realm, Unknown Location]

"Welcome, Iron Rose of the Isambard family, it's rude to arrive late to a meeting, especially one you called," A voice said; it belonged to a middle-aged man with fiery red hair and thick eyebrows.

Jake, who felt extremely dizzy and nauseous like he had just ridden on a superspeed rollercoaster looked around trying to understand where he was, he noticed he was standing on a similar stone platform as the one on the beach; but this one was in better condition.

Looking to the ground he saw that it was made from a kind of blue crystal, it was smooth and glowed, giving off an indestructible feeling.

The deep voice of the man caught his attention, and as he made eye contact with the man he felt he was being stared at by an apex predator who could end him with just a thought, he felt the temperature around him increase slightly as he began sweating.

Luckily it didn't last for long as Granny Ronae shielded him with her aura hence freeing him from the oppressive feeling he felt from just being gazed upon by the fiery man.

"Sorry if I arrived slightly late, my little visitor here was hungry after the flight" Jake heard Granny Ronae say "Now, I would tolerate no one to pressure the little one with their aura, so please withdraw as much as your aura as you can and let us begin this meeting"

Jake, Granny Ronae, and the man that appeared from the sandstorm; who she called 'Sandman' in his head stepped off the stone platform onto the crystal floor and walked towards the seated people, with Granny Ronae and the Sandman at the lead while he quietly trailed behind using the chance to survey his surroundings.

They were in a large circular hall with everything made from the same blue crystal as the ground, there were no windows and doors; all the light came from the glowing crystal wall and ground, but those are not what stood out the most.

Huge statues lined the walls of the hall, that was the reason he first thought it was a temple; giant statues made from the same crystal stood at intervals around the hall, there were 15-foot statues of women and men, each very life-like and because of how the crystal glows the statues looked like they were alive as they stood there majestically, some with powerful looking weapons on their hands, some with terrifying looking creatures by their side, some just stood; it was as if they were frozen in time and crystallized.

One statue stood out amongst all of them; it was a statue of a young man who had flowing hair and a face that demanded respect, he held a double-bladed spear, his statue stood taller than the rest and was made from golden crystal instead of the blue, just looking at him Jake felt like kneeling and paying homage.

To say the least, the hall was exceptionally beautiful but that was not all, with every breath Jake took in here it felt like his body was being cleansed and reborn; like the air was purifying him from the inside out, it was extremely refreshing.

The stone platform was located at the far end of the hall and towards the center, there were large chairs made from the same crystal as the floor in a round formation, there were about thirty chairs and most were already occupied by powerful looking people.

At this point Granny Ronae and the Sandman had each taken a seat and Jake stood beside Granny Ronae as he carefully glanced at the people in the hall, they totaled about twenty six people in the hall, and he saw a woman with a weird snow white dog with five tails on her lap, a man whose hair was bright purple with same colored eyes that seemed to have lightning crackling inside, he saw things that would normally only be seen a fantasy movie but now he was seeing it himself.

"I know we all have things we would rather be doing now so I'll get to the point" after some moments of silence Granny Ronae spoke.

"10,000 years ago the Mortal realm was split from Nyvoria and since then the spatial barrier has isolated our realms, but recently we all have noticed the presence of the people from Nyvoria here on earth, and they have only grown more frequent," Granny Ronae said as she looked at other guardians "I'm sure each of your families has noticed by now that the barrier is getting weaker and while it prevents people above a certain power level from crossing; in due time it will weaken enough for powerful beings to step in and when that happens we will be doomed" she paused and looked around.

"It's been too long since Earth has been cut off from Nyvoria, the Aether here is too sparse, no spirit herbs, nothing; but at the time Earth is filled with a lot of tombs and relics from the great war"

An old man in a blue kimono with wave patterns on it said.

"The fact that we all managed to reach the level we are in shows that we are geniuses who managed to use this worlds' Aether to its full capacity, but in the end, it's not enough"

The old man shook his head and sighed "The greatest crime a weak man can commit is to have a treasure that attracts the strong, the Mortal realm is weak but with all the still lost relics are like fresh meat to the wolves, they will not care about the cities and countries, they will tear it all down"

The room fell quiet again as the guardians knew what the old man said was true, humans of this age were too weak, they stood no chance at resisting, and even they the Guardians would fall if the Nyvoria finally invades, and Jake who watched finally understood how dangerous a situation Earth was in if these powerful beings, anything bad enough to make them worry what would it do to the rest of the world?

"That does not have to be the case," Ronae said looking at her fellow Guardians "I made a little investigation and found out that all places the invaders have entered our world through; are convergence points where our two realms are slightly connected"

Hearing this, the eyes of some Guardians flashed as they looked at her.

"I'm not sure but if what I think is right and they can only enter through convergence points then we can at least set up defenses at as much convergence points as we can so as not to be taken by surprise"

The woman with the strange dog spoke up after "My family can study the locations of their entrance and find similar points around the world then we can send the locations to each of you"

"It's just as Lian said; when she sends the location each family closest to a convergence point will guard that point, I have already bought the hill where the dead tree they used as an entrance stands but I doubt they would use it again," Ronae said after nodding at the woman with the dog.

"I find it strange that these Invaders who visited last went after a lost tomb of a Mythical Whisperer, even after 10,000 years how could they know where to search Ronae said in low voice "They were three this time, a Gold rank whisperer, a Gold Rank Summoner and a Beserk King who probably broke through when they fought in the skies of Star City"

Turning to look at the young Jake who felt out of place in such an important meeting Ronae smiled at him.

"Which brings me to my next reason for calling this meeting, this young man here witnessed firsthand the battle between the three Invaders" she said as she waved her hand using her aura to gently nudge him into the center of the hall.

Standing in front of all these people and feeling their powerful gazes on him immediately made Jake extremely uncomfortable, he avoided them but the gaze of one of them was deeper than the rest, it was a man with dark skin that had strange symbols on it, he had a purple cloth with stars on it wrapped around him leaving half his chest bare, thick locks of hair on his head and he wore a strange hat, what got Jakes' attention was his eyes, they were milky white and clouded, it was obvious he was blind but his gaze felt more piercing than that of the others like he could see all his secrets, those milky eyes were more focused and clear than any eyes he had ever seen.

The man didn't stare for long as he soon smiled and turned to Ronae "This is interesting"

After a moment of silence, Ronae spoke up again "We are old and past our prime, we might be the strongest in the Mortal Realm but we have largely used up our potential" pointing at Jake she continued "You all felt it right? The infant stages of berserk energy, and you can also deduce from his body mass and size of the newly formed meridians that he didn't have to train to produce this berserk energy growing in him"

The Guardians in the room looked at Jake with interest as they had all come to similar conclusions and wondered how this kid who looked like he was still breastfed had berserk energy without going through formal training or being from a Guardian family.

"Ronae, I know this kid is interesting and could be the best genius we've seen in centuries, but what does that have to do with our current situation" a voice that seemed capable of calming a mad dragon said; it belonged to a middle-aged woman with Nubian skin and eyes that seemed to contain the world oceans.

"Thank you for the question Omi," Ronae said as she smiled at the woman "Like I said before this kid who maybe previously didn't have a shred of berserk energy witnessed a fight between being who to him are basically gods, he was subjected to the aura of more than one Gold Rank and even the shockwave of the clashes and ..." she paused as she looked at her fellow Guardians who now had a more curious glint in their eyes

"He not only survived but forcibly unlocked berserk energy" she paused as she let her words sink in.

"If this world can create such a genius, how many more lay undiscovered?"

"I know we all have our family servant forces and even secretly sometimes recruit talents, we largely overlook a lot of people because want to keep it a secret, but I have an idea"

"If we can openly recruit as many children as we can, maybe find a lie to tell the public to make them allow us test as many children as possible we can find talents that may even surpass the ones in our families"

"If we can find a way to reverse what the Invaders did and open a portal to the Ascended realm from here we can send a group of these elite teens there, there they could grow stronger faster, but their main goal would be to find any items that can help increase the aether of the Mortal realm which in the long term will strengthen it and give rise to more people who will help in this inevitable war" Ronae concluded.

For a moment the whole hall froze as they stared in shock and disbelief at Ronae.
