The beast suddenly charged out of the white mist.
Wen Ran dodged instinctively, throwing out those life-saving magical treasures given by the old man without hesitation, while dragging her weary body to run away.
She was not proficient in her skills. Even transmitting one person with an array was already a struggle, let alone two people. Now, she was utterly exhausted. Without the numerous treasures on her, she wouldn't last a minute.
The beast was relentlessly pursuing her. Wen Ran didn't dare to look back. In her heart, she cursed Shen Wu a thousand times over and couldn't help but speculate with the worst malice about that black-hearted person.
Could he have deliberately lured her in to take her life!
Just as she thought this, Wen Ran realized she might have been mistaken because she saw Shen Wu.
The young man in front of her was dressed in white, stained with blood. He was leaning against a tree, his head slightly lowered. His thin body seemed even more fragile, and his originally fair face was also marked with bloodstains. Such a battered appearance was shocking.
If he intended to harm her, there was no need to make himself look like this mess, right? Could it be he really came to capture a magical beast for her!?
Though the dense forest was vast, Wen Ran's desperate run had led her to Shen Wu. It could indeed be said that this was fate.
Hearing the commotion, Shen Wu lifted his eyes to look at the person approaching. Seeing it was that originally delicate but now disheveled girl, he slowly curled his lips, "Ranran..."
Before he could finish greeting, Wen Ran pushed him behind a tree.
"Shen Wu, I really owe you! Stay here and don't come out!" Wen Ran stomped her foot and ran in another direction.
The beast, already enraged by her, also turned and followed suit.
Emerging from behind the tree, Shen Wu tilted his head slightly, looking somewhat puzzled.
Wen Ran felt she was truly touching, as if a saintly halo was about to shine upon the earth. Before today, even she didn't know she could be so selflessly sacrificial! It was such a pity for this plot to make her the vicious female supporting character!
A cold wind suddenly appeared behind her, and Wen Ran dodged to the side. A nearby ancient tree was snapped by a sharp claw. She felt a chill throughout her body, falling to the ground due to the impact, and seeing the charging beast, she instinctively raised her hand to protect her head.
Suddenly, she heard the sound of blades clashing.
The person appearing in front of her was holding a long sword, effortlessly blocking the beast's clawed strike.
His casual stance seemed to further enrage the beast, which roared, revealing terrifying fangs.
Suddenly, countless Sword Arrays appeared in the air, trapping the demon wolf within, giving it no escape. In a breath, only blood churned. Its flesh was peeled off alive, leaving only a skeleton that slowly toppled into a pile of flesh.
Yet a drop of blood carelessly fell onto his jade-white face.
A nauseating smell of blood spread.
He turned around. Under the dark environment, his expression was also mysteriously elusive, yet he still asked with concern, "Ranran, are you alright?"
Wen Ran felt she was very much in trouble, holding back the urge to vomit, "You... weren't injured?"
It seemed Shen Wu found this question hard to understand. After a moment, he glanced at the bloodstains on himself, then smiling softly as if just realizing, "I was too excited from the killing, so I didn't notice dirtying my clothes."
He blinked, innocently asking, "What, scared you again?"
His dark eyes were clear and pure, his smile naive and harmless. The few drops of blood on his face looked like sinister flowers blooming in the snow.
Oddly beautiful.
